I just want to start by saying this place was delicious. I had the ribs, the brisket and the Boudin. As you can see in the picture, everything was fresh and delicious. I absolutely love the brisket and ribs. They were some of the best I've had here in Dallas and I devoured it. I really like the age mac & cheese the cheese was great and I will definitely be back.My boyfriend recommended this after I got him a facial for Christmas and I am so happy that he did.

I went to Smokey Joe's for the first time recently and had a great experience! The brisket was tender and flavorful, and it had a good amount of bark on the outside. We also tried the brisket boudin and jalapeño cheddar sausages, and both were good but I think I preferred the texture of the jalapeño cheddar sausage. The mac & cheese was creamy with some pepper added in. I think what surprised me the most was the Frito pie, which I thought might be too much, but it actually had a great balance of flavors. The crispiness of the Fritos went really well with the brisket and the soft beans and cheese on top. I would get that again if we went back. At BBQ places I usually get banana pudding, and the one here was one of the best versions I've had.The inside of the restaurant is fairly small, but it wasn't too crowded when we were there on a Thursday night. I could see this also being a good place to get takeout from!

Food Review: Smokey Joe's BBQSmokey Joe's BBQ offers a cozy and clean atmosphere with a small dining area and polite, welcoming staff. During my visit, I ordered the brisket boudin, collard greens, cabbage, and cornbread. The brisket boudin was a highlight of the meal. The meat was tender, flavorful, and paired beautifully with their house barbecue sauce. It's clear they've perfected the art of seasoning and smoking their meats. However, the sides didn't meet the same standard. Both the collard greens and cabbage were underwhelming. They lacked seasoning and tasted as if they were simply boiled, without any additional effort to enhance their flavor.Overall, Smokey Joe's excels in their barbecue, but the sides could use more attention to detail to match the quality of the main dishes. I'd return for the meat, but I'd likely skip the greens next time.Rating: 3.5/5

First time stopping in here at Smokey Joe's BBQ. Right away you can definitely tell this is a local spot the whole community has been enjoying for years. This place had a whole story behind it that I truly loved. I went ahead and pretty much ordered everything that was recommended to me by the lady in the front! The ribs fell right off the bone, sauce comes on the side and it was truly amazing and authentic! The Mac & cheese was to die for, and by far one of the best briskets I've ever had. Jumping to the dessert it was a 10/10 and homemade by a local lady. The only reason I'm not giving a 5/5 is because I received my bbq warm to cold. I wish I had received it pipping hot! If you're in the area i definitely recommend trying this place out! Cheers,

I seen this place on instagram, it looked really good an for the most part it was good. The brisket was smoked and tasted really good, I solid 9/10. The ribs wasn't my favorite, they tasted like they was fried for a little bit lost the smoke flavor 6/10. The sausage didn't taste handmade or nothing 3/10. The Mac was alright a the bean wasn't good at all. It wasn't the worst place I been to but it's worth a try brisket was the best

Great BBQ Restaurant! The food is amazing. I love it that the owner offered a BBQ cooking class for boys. it was phenomenal! The boys (& their parents) learned a lot!! He even gave samples, gift bags, and snow cones to the boys. The restaurant was full. I am so grateful that he held the class. What a great way to give back to the community!I took my grandson because it seems that he will like cooking just as his dad did. Especially since my grandson's father was killed in an auto accident, having this class for boys really helped me & his mother. And, the BBQ was great!! The meat was tender and VERY tasty-- with or without the sauce.

I had to have BBQ when in the lone star state and Smokey Joe's came to the rescue!!! It's in the middle of the highway close to DeSoto but TRUST it's worth the drive!!! I had the ribs and the brisket Mac and cheese and omg I'm salivating!!! The ribs were SO meaty and the BBQ sauce was incorporated into the meat well. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I had enough ribs for two servings. The baked beans were also good and the green beans come with bacon bits. I do think the green beans are canned but they were still good being mixed with the bacon grease. As for the Mac and cheese it was interesting they added pico on top which was refreshing. I do wish it had a little but more guac but nonetheless it was amazing. It had so much tender brisket I had enough Mac for two sittings. My partner had the half roasted chicken because he doesn't eat pork for religious reasons and he was satisfied. Definitely wish the chicken portions were bigger but it was still perfectly seasoned. I highly recommend this BBQ joint when south of Dallas!!! Cheers to the meat sweats!!!

I've been going here for over 10 years. And even embraced the competition BBQ (bark) that is the signature now. But as of late I've pulled away from the ribs because I always got either burnt ends or something too close to the firebox. Well today my sliced beef sandwich was so meager. Nowhere near where it used to be. I was so disappointed. I know prices are increasing, but I'd rather have price go up than stay the same with a smaller portion. And it was lukewarm when I got it.
