Skyline Ranch

Skyline Ranch was an amazing find for GRRNT after city ordinance changes made is such that we could no longer host our annual off leash picnic at Lake Meadowmere in Grapevine. The grounds at Skyline Ranch are huge so that dogs had plenty area to run, sniff, and play. Plus, they have a creek with several small pools that allowed the dogs to splash, get muddy, and have fun! They have a huge picnic area and an outstanding pit master that provided us with a great lunch option during our picnic in Fall 2014. They also have a very nice looking indoor facility that we didn't utilize this time because the weather was so amazing. I've been too and been in a lot of weddings and each venue lends a uniqueness to the event. You want somewhere that is organized and has a staff able to handle any contingency. You want a venue that makes your guest feel welcome and taken care of. I can say this place doesn't fit any of the above. If you know there will be over 300 guest attending, you should have enough staff to serve and clear the dinner dishes at the same time, have enough tables for each guest plus two for crashers, all the tables set and labeled correctly, the AC on (it is Texas afterall), and have someone from the venue coordinating with the wedding planner to make sure things run smoothly. But here is what we were left with: No AC, the wedding party/family tables were not reserved (luckily we smart wedding guest figured it out before the New Couple arrived), there were no utensils for the appetizers, the wedding party and family of the bride and groom shouldn't have had to stand in a buffet line (they should have been served at their table FIRST), did I mention no AC? The dirty dishes stacked up and there was no one clearing the tables. A lot of guest were leaving due to the rising temperature inside so those who were standing and eating could have sat down if there was a clean spot to sit. When asked where to place the dirty dishes of the guest who have eaten and departed, the staff snapped back, " they'll get to it when they can." Uh... NO!! They should have had enough staff to begin clearing as soon as they saw the first empty dish! The staff also snapped and smarted off to the lady who made the centerpieces and party favors for the tables. They refused to follow her instructions on how to correctly place the items. I know this cuz I left the church right after the recessional to head to this place in order to get my parents seated in a good spot before the crowd came. They hadn't even finished setting up and the guest were in route! I worked for a catering company/venue for years and never in my life did we ever let our guest down. Even if we had multiple events back to back, each one had the proper staffing, made sure everything worked correctly, and no guest ever heard the word NO! I heard that a lot today. The high point of this wedding was the ceremony itself. It went off without a hitch and the New Couple were breathtaking! Beautiful in spite of the reception spot lacking in all things to continue their beautiful day! Choose your reception venue very carefully. Make sure to read reviews and really check around to see if the reviews are legit or not. Folks spend a lot of money on weddings and their money shouldn't be wasted by crappy business. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

You & your staff did an excellent job of providing my Family Reunion guests with "10 STAR" SERVICE in every aspect: comfortable & Cool indoor event space, fun games with "cash prizes", wonderful swimming pool to keep folks cool outdoors, fun outdoor games and so much more .... We all enjoyed Mr. Pitre's excellent presentation of your awesome outreach program directed towards at risk young black males.
