I have to respectfully disagree with Mark's math. My son Blake has been going to Mansfield which closed last week and will be enrolling into Ft. worth with a lot of other kids from Mansfield. Now, here my math. We paid 350/month for classes. That covered 1 personal lesson a week(1hour), and 1 group/band lesson a week(2 hours). So 3 hours a week. Now your right, it isn't always exactly an hour, but music isn't always just playing and practicing, a lot of times you want to talk with your bandmates, say hi, settle in, and leave with enough space/time for the next kid. So there isn't any difference really. I drop him off at 4:45, he comes out at 5:45, that's an hour, that's the experience. So, back to the math, that's 350$ a month divided by 12/hrs...That's 29.17$/hr. This August will be 1 year for him, he's played 3 shows and is a complete addict, he has collected 7 guitars and basses in less than a year, he practices multiple times a day at home that don't include paid lessons. He has learned to play Bass, Guitar, and Sing...On Stage. So the cost to benefit ratio is more than reasonable to me. Its not 120$/hr...it's more like 30$/hr....respectfully

There are so many great things to say about School of Rock but to touch on a few: Relevant to what the students like. Enthusiasm of the instructors. The atmosphere created with the rock murals and décor. The pledge of conduct the students agree to about bullying, foul language and other important things

Ok..I'm not criticizing the quality of instruction, but this is clearly a VERY expensive option. I believe they're franchised and likely have overhead costs that drive some of this. But check my math: monthly lessons for $360/month. To make it easy, assume 4 weeks per month...so that's 4 lessons for $360, or $90 per lesson. Here's the real kicker...they're 45 minute lessons, not hour long. So, $90 for 45 minutes is $2 per minute. If you extrapolate this to the standard 1 hour lesson (I mean come on, you only offer 45 minute lessons?), then it's $2/minute x 60 minutes or $120 an hour!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me? $120 per hour? You can get a professional engineer designing a spaceship to Mars for that rate. Ridiculous. Work a standard year at those rates and you're pulling in $240k. Yikes. I wouldn't be surprised if the monthly rate and 45 minute sessions are all part of the marketing to hide the fact they charge over $100 per hour.
