With all the hype around Japanese sandwiches--and how good they looked--I had to give this place a try. I ordered the egg salad sando, a matcha latte, and fries. The egg salad sando was good but could have used a bit more seasoning, like salt or perhaps a touch of paprika or cayenne to enhance the flavor. The fries were pretty standard frozen fries, nothing particularly special. The matcha latte, however, seemed to be made with authentic matcha, which I appreciated. It came unsweetened, and the only sweetener option available was honey, so keep that in mind if you prefer a sweeter drink. There's very limited seating, and the shop closes early, so plan accordingly. We also tried the dessert fruit sandwich, which was enjoyable. As expected, the sandwiches are on the pricey side, making this more of a one-time experience unless you're really craving a Japanese sando.Parking in the area can be tricky--if you're lucky, you might find a spot nearby, but be prepared to pay at the meter or through an app.Overall, it's worth trying once for the experience, but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way for it again.

Heard the hype and had to stop in to try this place out. We arrived to a delightfully tiny restaurant and a very welcoming and pleasant staff. We placed our order for a Chicken Katsu Sando, a Cajun Ebi Shrimp Sando, Fries, and a Matcha Horchata. The Sandos were hot and fresh with great flavors. The fries were downright awesome, well seasoned and very tasty with delicious Yuzu ranch. The Matcha Hochata was excellent, best Matcha I have ever had. So if the food was so good, why the 4 stars? These sammies are expensive! 2 Sandos, fries, and a drink was just under $50. It is downtown and the food is great but we are still talking some pretty petite Sandos. If I had a craving I would be back for sure, but the pricing keeps this from being a go to.

My friends and I stumbled upon Sandoitchi after walking around Downtown Dallas, and we were intrigued by the branding of the restaurant, so we went in to see what it was.The restaurant itself is relatively small - there's only a few counter seats (~6 or so) but there's some seating outside the restaurant as well. The menu consists of different types of Sandos, but hot/cold or savory/sweet, and different types of matcha as well. My friends and I weren't that hungry, so we got one sando to split between the three of us.We ended up choosing the Spicy Chicken Truffle Sando, and WOW it was delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly, with a crispy breading that added to every bite, and the truffle sauce was delicious. Highly recommend, added plus is that the restaurant has a fantastic view of the Dallas Eye.

The sandwiches are amazing. Fluffy bread, delicious filling, the strawberry matcha was so light and fluffy while the chicken katsu was perfectly crunchy. It's a pretty space with friendly employees. It's not a quick stop (expect to wait 10 minutes if there's no line) and the price point is high for the size of the sandos but they are high quality.

The sammies really aren't all that. The spicy truffle chicken katsu didn't taste like truffle at all. The egg salad sando, while well-cooked, was pretty bland. The fries were the best part of my meal. The staff is A1 and while I may return to try a different sando or two I wouldn't say it's a "must try" spot. Great view of the eyeball, though!

Finally got to try Sandoitchi - this popup sando shop has been around for years, but I just got my hands on it at their location in Downtown Dallas! The years of waiting and reading about the hype were well worth it.I will say parking is a little challenging as it's mostly street parking, but there's plenty of outdoor seating for you to enjoy your food once you get past that hurdle. My sister and I ordered the spicy truffle chicken, shrimp ebi cheeze, and a matcha latte and our food was brought out quickly to us! The bread was oh so soft and squishy and did a good job of retaining structure as it didn't get soggy. Spicy truff had a nice heat, but I particularly enjoyed how unique the ebi tasted with the shrimp.Lastly, the matcha is absolutely to die for. They use oat milk and one of my favorite matcha brands - Rocky's! Would 100% be back.

It is so awesome that Sandoitchi has a location in Dallas! Might also be It's only American location as well! Many excellent katsu sando options including an ebi fry (shrimp fried katsu) one, beef, pork katsu, steak, and dessert options with strawberry. An amazing assortment of beverages as well including banana Millikan and various matcha tea drinks including banana matcha tea. A selection of Taiwanese Lays and other chips with unique flavors. Service is prompt and other the interior is small, there exists plenty of seating outside. Highly highly recommended if you are ever in Dallas!

Stumbled upon this gem while walking downtown. Couldn't resist a sando. I got the spicy fried chicken and it was decent. The hojicha latte was super tasty. Nice spot to stop by for a quick bite or drink.

Ah, Sandoitchi, the quirky gem of Downtown Dallas. If you haven't visited yet, just picture this: you, nibbling on a pricey but delightful hot sandwich, while sitting directly across from the city's famous giant eyeball sculpture. It's as if your lunch is being intensely judged by a 30-foot-wide optic nerve, but hey, that's part of the charm.Let's start with the sandwiches: they are genuinely good--particularly the hot ones. They strike a delightful balance between fluffy bread and savory fillings, and if you close your eyes (to match your stone-faced neighbor across the street), you could almost imagine yourself munching on a sando in Tokyo. Almost. The Asian chips that come with them are unique, with flavors that dance between quirky and genuinely delicious--these aren't your standard salt-and-grease-crisps. Instead, they offer a crunchy adventure that will have you guessing the seasoning if you choose to ignore the bag label, which feels like a mini-game to go along with your meal. Now, let's talk drinks. They are... how should I put this? Let's say, they are sophisticatedly priced, likely reflecting the privilege of watching Dallas' most notable public sculpture while sipping. Whether the price tag is due to the view, the imported ingredients, or just an ambitious business model is up for debate.Speaking of ambitious--yes, the wagyu and lobster offerings are here for those feeling adventurous, or for those who might have accidentally inherited a fortune. Expect to drop close to $100 if you're venturing down that decadent path. But hey, sometimes we splurge on something ludicrously fancy just to say we did, right? All in all, Sandoitchi is a one-time experience if you're curious or nostalgic for Japanese sandwiches, or just want to Instagram the vibe. It's not an everyday stop--unless you're trying to impress the eyeball across the street with your spending habits. While I've seen some regulars who have presumably decided to make Sandoitchi their new hobby, for the rest of us, it might be more of a "been there, done that" situation. If you're on a daily sandwich quest and looking to get the most flavor for your dollar, other Downtown Dallas spots will certainly do a more merciful number on your wallet. But for those days when a hot sandwich, unique chips, and a good-natured stare-off with a giant eyeball sound like your kind of midday escape--Sandoitchi is ready to welcome you, fancy drink and all. PS: Don't forget the dessert. ;P
