Papa G's Sport's Bar & Grill

This is very simple. I'm here right now. I've been here for 45 min. I sat at a round table right by the front door with the main walkway right next to me. I've had 3 waitresses pass by me multiple times even serving the guys next to me. One waitress actually tripped on a chair at my table. Nobody has come near me. Being in the service industry I just can't fathom that. The manager James even walked right by me. Serious dump for service.

I mean I can't possibly rate it any higher than a one star because we never got served. Guy up front pounced on us like we stole something in order to check our IDs. Sat around at a table for 20 minutes and nobody ever came to us. Server looked at us several times but never stopped by.

Papa G's is bigger than it looks from the outside, featuring dozens of TV screens and two bar areas. If you don't see the game you're looking for, just ask the manager - he found a Big Ten hockey game for me on a channel that many local bars don't have. Service was very friendly. Unfortunately the interior was completely shrouded in cigarette and cigar smoke. I had no idea smoking in bars was still a thing. Felt like I'd been transported back to the 1990s, when a night at the bar meant coming home with smoky smelling clothes. I wouldn't recommend this place at all if smoke bothers you. If you don't mind the smoke, there's an OK domestic draft list (including one or two craft options) and decent bar food. Beer is relatively cheap. Don't think I'll be back though, unless they make it no smoking. I recognize smokers need options too, but not for me.

We've been here quite a few times now. The one and only negative is that they allow smoking inside. If you don't mind it then great, sitting inside is fine for you. I personally try to only go if it's a day I will wash my hair otherwise my hair carries the smell home with me. BUT they do have a nice outdoor space. There are sunshades, fans and misters and sitting at the outside bar is actually pretty comfortable even when it's hot out. It's definitly a dive bar but the food is really good. If you are around the area and like mimosas, bloody marys or screwdrivers on Saturday or Sunday before 3pm then you CANT BEAT their prices. Between $2.00-2.75 a drink. Every time we have been there for brunch there has been 2/3 of the same bartenders and these girls are WONDERFUL. The service is always great. They are friendly, attentive and take care of us. All of the food I've had has been great as well. And it's priced so well!! There's no where else in the area that we can go and have that great of bar type food for that price. They do have a couple pool tables and a couple other bar games (darts).

Great food, wonderful environment and great people. The staff is very helpful and very friendly! A great place to go to have a beer, get some good food and watch sports.The potato skin chips are awesome!

I come back here about every 6 months or so. Each time it's a little more "Divey". It's big, has patio seating, pool tables, dart boards, lots of TV's. It's a little concerning that they have to put up a sign saying no motorcycle club colors, but I was there in the afternoon. It was just the usual day drinkers. If you have an issue with indoor smoking, keep driving right past. If you want a cheap beer and a chance to get a tooth knocked out, come on in!

This place is just not good at all. If you're not a smoker, I would recommend avoiding it altogether. I had a headache the entire time we were there because the smell of smoke is so strong once you walk in the door and it stays with you the whole time you're there. Customers are allowed to smoke in the entire restaurant, not just at the bar. Service is terrible, consistent with almost every other review here. We were there for nearly two hours in what should have been a 45 minute trip at most. We had a different waitress every time someone came to the table so we didn't even know who we were actually tipping. We only had our water refilled once and as I was having my order taken the waitress was watching the tv above me the entire time. She didn't even realize I had stopped talking or was staring at her until the tv segment she was watching ended. Food is cheap. You get what you pay for clearly. It wasn't the worst meal I've ever had, but it was far from good. I wouldn't pay for the quality of the food I received again. I won't be back and I would advise you don't even try it.

Went for a couple beers and a burger! Food was amazing and good service! The patio is really spacious as well as the inside. Plenty of room for a large party and they have a lot of pool tables and TVs on patio!

I like this place but seeing $8.99 online for a chicken salad & it being $15 when I go to pick it up is CRAZY. Fifteen dollars for a chicken salad from a dive bar..... When I asked about the price difference the bartender informed me "that's the correct price after 2pm." Never again.

Mitra, Heidi, Courtney, Brittni , and James are awesome! Great service every single time! Eva is pretty ok too I guess.
