I like this place. They have creative rolls. If you have roomie sushi eaters or veterans you will find something for everyone. Nice atmosphere. Sushi is good stuff.

Oishii Sushi is nestled away on SMU Boulevard in an unassuming lot that betrays its bijou allure. When the weather is nice, sitting outside and watching collegiate life bustle to and fro while having a roll or two isn't a terrible way to spend a weekday lunch hour, though I would recommend avoiding peak hours, as parking is a bit limited. The rolls themselves consist of sushi classics and items specific to Oishii, and our server went above and beyond to not only recommend to me an exquisite appetizer with a mystery green sauce on the side, he also let me try items that weren't even on the menu still being developed in the experimental stages of creation. While not everything was a hit, there wasn't anything that was particularly unpalatable; it all fulfilled my appetite for makizushi.Oishii Sushi benefits from both its pleasant location and its creative dishes and therefore earns itself a place in my top comfort spots for the time being.

Very nice sushi/sashimi meal in Dallas around "solar eclipse day". Does have a college vibe, as it is near SMU. There were three of us, and we ordered to share - donut roll, sensei roll, roman roll, and wasabi roll. We also ordered the baby bok choy with a white garlic sauce, as well as unagi sashimi and ikura sushi. We normally order more raw items, but we were treating our Dallas host during our visit, so the rolls usually had some cooked items - but despite that, they were indeed excellent. The baby bok choy was delightful. The unagi sashimi and ikura sushi was for the two of us.. :)The reason for four stars was that we signed up (there was a wait, not surprising) and said to mark that we were outside, and waiting for an outside table. Unfortunately, they forgot about us, and even though two outdoor tables came open, they began to seat a party that had definitely come after us. When we mentioned this, they quickly did seat us, but it did feel odd. The table service was fine, but the initial arrival wasn't the greatest.

I stopped by here on a Sunday evening on my way down to San Antonio - the place was packed! I asked for a place at the bar so I wouldn't waste table space. I ordered tuna sashimi and the Royce Roll. I don't think I could give justice trying to describe the amount of flavor that is in the Royce Roll. I've been here a few times prior and have tried at least six other rolls on the menu - all have been fabulous but Royce is my favorite. I love the quaint interior of this restaurant. I think the smaller dining area adds to the experience.

The service is great at Oishii. The restaurant is in a convenient area near SMU and near a number of other restaurants. It's also a popular place which was very busy. However I was looking for a pure Japanese restaurant and I found this place to me more an Asian fusion restaurant for a western audience. I found the sushi to me ok but not amazing. Same with the seafood and Chinese dishes. I saw they also have a variety of Vietnamese dishes so this place is trying to do too many things. Overall, it was ok but it's not authentic enough for me.

Excellent sushi. The wait staff are very nice. I tried several different rolls. Also the sashimi salad is very tasty. It's a good spot to go to for lunch. I would highly recommend this place.

When I moved to Dallas, everyone told me this was their favorite restaurant. As a sushi lover, I was excited to try and finally go around to it. I will say it lived up to the hype! If you are planning on coming here, MAKE A RESERVATION. This place was packed. Parking isn't the best also. I had to do a lap around and luckily there was one spot open. Not sure what I would have done if there wasn't and it will definitely stress me out for future visits. Also, because of how popular this place is, it is LOUUUUUUUD. LOUD. I honestly couldn't hear a word my friend was saying the whole time. As good as the food is, it was pretty miserable. Definitely don't go here for a first date! Now besides all that, the food was amazing! I ordered the Donut roll which was a pretty big branch out for me because I normally order rolls with no raw fish but wanted to try something new and felt this was the place to do it. The roll was amazing!!! So glad I branched out and I will definitely be getting it again. The fish wasn't slimy which was always my fear with raw fish. I will say, as a spicy mayo and eel sauce fan, it was a little lacking on this roll. The sauces was one reason I ordered it and it was very minimal. However I would prefer not enough over too much which is sometimes the case for other restaurants. My friend who never has tried sushi got the Alaskan roll and she loved it! It also looked like something I would like so may try that next time too. All in all this restaurant was yummy and has great food but I may enjoy it more as takeout. The loud environment and limited parking stressed me out but the amazing rolls made up for it!! Definitely try it out!

Usually I check in, photograph, and then write a long review. The night I went to this amazing restaurant I went with friends and forgot all of the usually Yelp stuff I do. I just enjoyed dining. I don't have a list of what we ate, I just know it was amazing. Sushi is one of my favorite foods when prepared well using fresh ingredients. The staff at this Oishii location know how to make great sushi. The fish was fresh, the ingredients to complement the fish were fresh as well. We were able to sit outside on the patio and the evening was lovely. Our server was well versed in the menu and that made the meal very pleasant. Definitely a good experience that I would like to repeat if I am in Dallas again.

I serendipitously stopped here for dinner last Tuesday. What a find! The food was superb and I loved the lively ambiance. Here's what elevated my dining experience: We sat at the bar, which right over the counter and without a glass partition, the chefs are expertly slicing, rolling and plating rolls. On this nite there were multiple chefs and a lot to watch. Always fascinating observing people who are skilled and passionate about what they do. I also loved that the menu included a wide variety of sushi and cooked foods. I tried the spring rolls, subbing tofu for the shrimp. These were 4 large rolls stuffed with vermicelli, crispy tofu and large basil leaves. Hubby had a variety of sushi including yellowtail, poke bowl and the Himalayan roll. His favorite was the Himalayan roll, which was served on a salt block. Cool! The poke bowl needed some help, maybe heat, rice and/or sesame oil.I liked the extensive cocktail and wine menu. We were one of the last to leave, and saw the clean up process. Rest assured this is a very clean restaurant with much attention to detail. BTW, I have also tried Oishii on Parkwood in Plano and had a completely different experience.
