It was time for our TexMex "fix" and we were close to one of our favs, Mi Cocina on the west side of Fort Worth. Arriving, the restaurant was packed for a Wednesday evening. We were greeted by the hostess who said there was a 10-15-minute wait asking us if that would be, OK? We said, of course! Our wait went by fast as we were people watching and taking in the new decor. It had been a few months since we'd been to the restaurant. It had a new remodel with chairs and booths, beautiful, stylish and upscale. After being seated we looked over the menu. Our warm chips and salsa arrived. We love Mi Cocina's salsa, it has a great "bite" to it. Mi Cocina's chips are made from a thicker corn tortilla so they're great for dipping in the salsa. Deciding didn't take much time since we were very familiar with it. We started to order fajitas to share but changed our minds. My wife ordered the crispy taco platter, and I ordered the Luann platter. It ended up being WAY too much, but it looked so good from the description. My wife ordered a small frozen margarita, and I ordered a Mambo, yummy! Our drinks were delicious and prepared to perfection. As we waited for our entrees, we munched down on the chips and salsa. Honestly, we both ate TOO many chips. I told our server, David, please bring us a big bowl of salsa, it is so good. After a short period, our entrees arrived. My wife's crispy taco platter had two tacos on it and Refritos y Arroz (rice and refried beans). My Luann platter consisted of a Guacamole Chalupa, Beef Taco, Cheese Enchilada, Cheese Taco, Refritos y Arroz. Everything was SO good especially on a slightly chilly evening.David, our server, took excellent care of us even though he was VERY busy but made us feel we were the only customers he was serving. What a wonderful visit we had! Mi Cocina thank you for the wonderful service and the outstanding customer service from the whole staff.

A girlfriend and I stopped in for dinner after a day of shopping. Had to wait as they were busy (apparently there is a rodeo in town) but the wait wasn't too long. The food was delicious. Well the aged cheddar enchilada was great. I wasn't too fond of the picadillo but I'm super picky when it comes to picadillo. The cream sauce was also delicious. Our server was super sweet and attentive!I would definitely go back

I want to start by saying I am a bit of a mexican food snob so I have high expectations. Their parking is pretty plentiful because, even though it is a shared parking lot, it is a very large parking lot, so parking wasn't difficult. When our party of 3 walked in, we were greeted and sat immediately. Our waitress came over to take our order, answer questions, and give us recommendations. I chose to get the grouper fish tacos, and I was excited that they had something different besides tilapia, and the waitress made a recommendation on how I should eat my tacos. I was interested, so I added serrano peppers and ranch, and she said that the ranch helped it balance the flavor because the serrano peppers were a little hot. I also got a margarita, and one of my friends got the queso blanco. The queso and the chips were tasty. The chips were on the thicker side but were crispy and tasted fresh. The tacos were okay, I understood why she recommended adding something with spice. The fish tacos by themselves didn't have a whole lot of flavor at all, so the peppers and the ranch did help add flavor to the tacos. I did really like their cilantro rice, and the beans were traditional refried beans. My drink was pretty good, but most of their drink selections are just margaritas. I was a little irritated when I got my check. I had been charged for getting the serrano peppers and ranch. The waitress never mentioned that there was an extra charge when she made the recommendation. I would have liked to understand the cost because I may not have paid extra for it.I also got a to go order and got my husband some beef fajitas. My husband ate the fajitas when I brought them home, and he was also disappointed. He said that the fajitas were just cooked meat. They did not have any seasoning.Tex Mex doesn't mean bland, so to me, the food was just okay.

We had a large group on an early weekend night. Our server, Maria, was wonderful. Chips, salsa, and water were filled frequently. We tried the guacamole , chicken poblano enchiladas , cheese enchiladas, and several combo platters. Each of us cleaned our plates. Margaritas could've had a little more flavor, but were still good and refreshing.

Tex-Mex done right! My date and I frequent this location often, at least once every week or so. Their frozen margaritas are both of our favorite, but be warned, they pack a punch! They have a slew of different takes/versions of margaritas as well as a few other fun cocktails. My date usually orders a beer after his marg and a chilled glass is always offered and always much appreciated. Chips and salsa are complimentary here. Some days the salsa is spicier for whatever reason, but the flavor and consistency - not too chunky or watery - is always on point. There is no happy hour, but the offering of lunch specials that run Mon-Friday until 4pm is a plus. For a $3 upcharge, you can upgrade from refried beans to their "charro" or "bean soup," which I always opt for because it's delicious. You can always opt for double rice, no beans, at no extra cost. This is always a good option because they do tex-mex rice well here.Since we're regulars, it's always nice when a waiter or waitress says hi or hello no matter if they're waiting on our table or not. Seeing so many other tables being said hi to makes it no wonder, there have lots of returning, loyal customers. No extra or overdone attention is paid though, meaning they treat all of their customers as equally and friendly as possible.I'd recommend their chicken quesadilla, bean soup, rice, cheese enchiladas, and maybe their "sunset enchiladas" if you're in the mood to try something familiar but with a slight twist. These particular enchiladas are a bit spicier and come with shoe-string fried onions on top.Critiques:Their queso isn't my favorite, and I also wish they had homemade flour tortillas and/or sopapillas. They don't have sweet tea here, but offer a sugar dish with a variety of sugar alternatives + actual sugar packets. Other than that, I have nothing bad to say. There are private banquet rooms that can accommodate large groups or parties and an outdoor patio area for those wanting to dine al fresco. They have an upstairs bar area that offers open seating and a downstairs area that offers comfortable seating at booths, tables, and booth + table combos. Whether you're dining solo, with a group of girlfriends, on a date, meeting for lunch, or having a meal with your family, this place is great for all of those gatherings.

This was my first time to Mi Cocina. As seemingly happens to me often, we had a brand new waitress. Maria was so kind and knew the menu extremely well for it being her second day on the job. The food was just alright unfortunately. I know a taco salad is not the most flavorful dish possible, but it was very bland. There could have been a bit more seasoning/ zest added to the chicken or veggies with varying textures. It was a beautiful dining room with plenty of space in between the many tables.

Clean and decent food. Service started out good but when my drink was noticeably made wrong twice, I could see the difference in the level of service. I ordered the El patròn margarita and right away could tell it wasn't the right drink but still tried it.. still was a basic margarita drink (which would be fine if the difference in price is 6$). I asked nicely if it was the right drink since I tasted nothing of the grand mariner or in house agave.. he gave an attitude but returned with the same glass(marked it) just refilled with more mixture. He relayed to the manager who didn't care to speak with us. After that we waited and got met with attitude and no care.
