The McKinney Oktoberfest is an authentic German festival!! Unique selection of German brew & food. TIP: bring your biggest drinking cup & double up on your beer order or you'll spend 20 minutes waiting in line for a refill. The later it gets the longer the wait, no joke we waited 45 minutes for beer only to find out they were sold out of our favorite flavor. Authentic German fare like brats, pretzels, and struddle. Food is ok, eh, it's a festival so don't expect too much. TIP: buy food/ drink "tickets" asap when you arrive!! No one will accept money. You do have other options however outside the festival food vendors. There are several local restaurants open. We ate at Square Burger. It helped a lot to sit inside with a/c for a while & have access to a clean bathroom. Live Polka & German music is Friday & Saturday evening. Lots of singing & dancing, so much fun! There is also a small carnival area that's actually appropriate for all ages. Some rides are for toddlers and a few are for dare devil's. $$$$$We had a great time!! This was our 3rd year to attend. Admittance is FREE. Snapchat heaven, lol.. Saw incredibly cute fur babies (yes you can bring your furry family members). A lot of folks wearing their traditional German attire, very cool. All kinds of art, jewelry, nick knacks etc.. Security was intense, cops posted at every corner & a few on horses. It was extremely crowded & hot, no lie. We will return next year even more prepared than the year before.Hope this information helps you :]

Good food from both festival booths and especially the local restaurants on the square. Fun atmosphere, friendly patrons. Most bands/entertainment groups were just OK but the headliner BRAVE COMBO was awesome, what was just another festival on a hot Texas day instantly came to life!!!!! Otherwise if you are a fan of unending HOT beer it's for you.

Lemonade was totally melted when I got it. At least the ice was. Jumbo corny dog was okay. Apple streusel was good. Typical fair food where everything was overpriced. You are better off getting food in one of the regular restaurants. Not very many German artifacts for sale. The nutcrackers were pretty cool. Lots of beer and wine. Stood in line while people just talked and talked to wine vendors. Finally just gave up. Parking is atrocious unless you want to park at a church and ride a shuttle. Doubt we will go back next year.
