Massey’s BBQ

Arrived at Massey's BBQ first time for me and second time for friends. We were greeted by the owner with a big smile. He went thru some of the suggestions of choices, highly recommending the onion rings.I ordered the Massey Mess (frito pie) with brisket. It was delicious!!! Had the regular sauce. I really liked it! It was just the right amount of spicy.The restrooms are very very clean. Clean bathrooms are always appreciated!It is a big place with lots of tables to sit.

I loved this place, the facility and the staff.Todd Massey greets customers, makes sure they know how the ordering and seating work. Booze will be available after October 13th, once Massey and his stellar team navigate the Texas law corn maze. I ordered a loaded baked potato, which turned out to be the size of a nerf football, turkey on the side. The turkey is diced, which I found appealing; it is the most flavorful I can recall, if a tiny -- hey, I'm splitting hairs -- bit on the dry side. Regular sauce is exactly what you'd expect, and I slathered the turkey with it. Hell, I'd put the stuff on Cheerios.A clean and sprawling faciliity with various dining venues, all tastefully Texana. It is not Hard 8 BBQ nor does it try to be. Pleasant, comfortable, and a guaranteed success that will hopefully trigger a Johnson City-Fredericksburg symbiosis along the 144 link between unpolished Granbury and its more laid-back wealthy sibling, Glen Rose.Todd has a great vision; it might ultimately frame the distinction between two towns.

Todd greeted us at the door and went over the specials as we walked in, made us feel welcome and overall added to our experience. The food was great and we really enjoyed our time here.

What a surprise to be greeted by the owner welcoming us the moment we walk through the door! Great service, really good barbecue. The sliced beef and chopped brisket sandwiches were delicious and the hand cut, buttermilk onion rings were crunchy and tasty. Definitely recommend!

You cannot miss this big beautiful building while headed out towards Glen rose. What you can't see from the front is the massive covered outdoor dining and stage area that is included and miss miss the pickle ball court tucked off to the side. But let's get to the BBQ since that's what we were really here for. Walked in to meet the owner who gave us a menu tour. Settled on turkey, ribs and brisket with potato salad, baked beans, green beans and onion rings. Comes with option of regular or spicy sauce and pickle/onion/jalapeños of course. We didn't love the brisket but the rest was spot on! Turkey was tender and juicy. The onion rings were so good - house made fresh. The sides were all perfect. The ribs were huge and peppery. We made record time crushing it all and left stuffed with a good ol to go tea. Great job Masseys on delivering some excellent BBQ in a beautiful building.

The Loaded Baked Potato with Meat is all that you need! But I would throw in the okra anyways!!! Sit outside and enjoy live music on Friday nights- it's toasty and fun!!!

Great wings and rings, loved this place. Owner and staff were great! Perfect for after golf.

Where do I start? I'm an avid meat smoker myself, so I have a decent wrap around good and exceptional BBQ! Well today was more than excellent. From the owner greeting us the moment we walked in. To thank us on the way out. Staff was exceptional and as friendly as could be. Not fake but sincere, I read people quite well. Now let's talk about why I tried this place for the first time. We are from Lewisville Texas visiting Glen Rose and felt like Mexican or BBQ. The group picked BBQ. We had ribs, sliced brisket, jalapeño sausage with pinto beans, Mac and cheese, onion rings and fried okra. Sweet tea to wash it all down! The sauce both plain and spicy were rocking it as well. So to end with, if you don't try this place it will be your loss for sure. Couple picks of my BBQ just to show you I know what I'm talking about. Thank you Mr. Massey

Service was great and they had awesome Brisket sandwich and tacos. Prices were very good too

Staff is nice and the restaurant is kind of neat overall. Brisket is moist, but lacking smoke and seasoning. I would make the same comment about the jalapeñosausage, very bland and not smokey. Their smoked mac & cheese tasted like something that came out of a box. Over cooked and no smoke. Best item I tasted was the Onion rings. They were delicious.
