Out of town visiting my sister and she brought our family here for dinner. I trust her taste but also, Sushi in a Dallas suburb? I was skeptical. But this place lived up to the excitement she had. Great fresh fish. Awesome rolls and nigiri. Kind service. Great mix of sakes, wines and beers. Not fancy in terms of decor but you don't need that when the sushi is so tasty.

Everything we got one of each thing and shared everything. We got the Nabeyaki Udon and it was good! Very light broth and chewy udon. It came in a ceramic pot that kept it hot for awhile. We also got the heart attack roll, the Taiki roll, and the crunchy salmon roll. My favorite was probably the crunchy salmon. For some reason the Taiki roll was much spicier than the heart attack roll, even though the heart attack roll had bigger slices of jalapeño. We also got 6 salmon nigiris. One thing I will say, I did not realize that all the nigiris came with wasabi in between the rice and fish. I hate wasabi, so I ended up trying to scrape as much of it off as I could. We also got the spicy edamame. They were okay. I was expecting a saucy spicy edamame, but it was just a light sprinkling of some type of chili powder that did not have much flavor on it. I'd just save the extra dollar and get regular edamame if you were between the two.The service was great! I'd recommend calling a day in advance to secure a reservation. It is a small, but cozy environment.

FOODSalmon Salad - they gave us a small dish of salmon with mayo and onion. Tasted very light and a great way to start the evening.Taiki Roll - Has jalapeños which give a kick. Not too much masago inside. Definitely just packs a punch. Crunch Salmon - Good amount of crunch on the top that was crispy. Salmon is fresh and pretty good roll.Kamo Soba - The broth is pretty yummy. It has a decent portion of duck and shiitake mushrooms. Personally, I think it would be good with udon noodle versus the soba noodle.Tempura Zaro Soba - I really like this version of the soap of where you dipped the noodles in. It was the first time that I had some noodles and it's a very refreshing dish. Also, the tempura was very crunchy. It came with two pieces of shrimp as well as two potatoes. Would highly recommend and pretty good deal on the price.VIBESThere is booth seating, which consist of benches with cushions on it as well as table, seating and seating at the sushi bar. The lighting is on the dimmer side, and it gives sort of like a studio vibe with the brick wall, as well as just a comfy homestyle with the counter. SERVICE Service is great! Everyone seems very welcoming and they are quick to refill drinks

I'm MAD! Mad bc I grew up in Richardson and never found this place until now!Love the options, It felt like there was enough of a different quantity of items that absolutely anyone could find something they love here! It wasn't too many items (think cheesecake factory 700 page menu) lol.The quality was spot on, The tempuro was perfectly cooked, nice portion sizes, and sushi is fresh. 10 out of 10 Ambiance: Dark and moody lighting, warm and family owned feel! Plenty of seating. And love sitting at the sushi bar and watching the chefs prepare their art.The prices were reasonable and solid quality. The server was attentive. I know and she had multiple tables and still ensure that all tables were taken care of sure I'll be right there. Also I was greeted right away with who may have been the host or maybe one of the owners. Service was excellent and friendly.

Tried Masami on a Friday night per a coworker's suggestion! Parking was somewhat hard to find as the restaurant was very packed, but we only waited about 15 minutes for a table since it was just two of us. Sushi was decent for the price, but nothing mind blowing. Some pieces were a bit chewy and didn't taste super fresh. It gets the job done if you don't want to make the trek downtown to get your sushi fix.

Fantastic lunch option around Dallas/richardson if you're craving sushi. They have pretty affordable and sizable lunch box options that includes: sushi, sashimi, chirashi, katsu etc. the raw fish quality is pretty good. The decor is very comfortable and relaxing as well. I loved the welcome sign that goes up and down as the front door opens .

Great place for sushi at a reasonable price! We had dinner for two for around $125 and left very full. They have special items not on the menu on a blackboard. The service was great and it's cute/ simple inside. I really liked that it felt like a hole in the wall/ authentic. They have a wonderful selection of desserts too - I had the black sesame flan! So delicious!

Originally,we were going to Chiliso's 2 doors down, but we saw that Masami was open for lunch, so we decided to go in, but no one came to seat us, so we left and then, one of the servers came outside to get us, so we sat down. We've been here 5 years ago, but I didn't care for the owner(he was talking his personal business and insulting, very unusual for Japanese person to do), so I didn't go back. This time, we sat at the table and ordered. I ordered shrimp tempura and salmon combo and it was ok. However, sushi rolls were good. Sashimi salad looked decent. PB said they were good, bc he ate every crumb of it. Our server was attentive, just right amount of friendliness. The place was busy with customers at lunch time. We finished it off with tempura ice cream and it was really good. That's one of our favorite desserts at Japanese restaurants. The only thing that turned me off was they serve sting ray!! I got to pet, play and feed the sting rays at sand bar in Grand Cayman, so that to me, was distasteful!!! I didn't think sting rays are edible!!! Anyhow, We will def return for the sushi rolls and Tempura ice cream.
