Krispy Catfish

I wanted to get my seafood badge. This was the only place that I could think of that was convenient. I called in my order to save time. Finding a parking spot was easy. The Owner quickly greeted me right away. He said, he bought this place 7 to 8 months ago. They painted the walls White and got new countertops. It was very nice in there but, it was a little warm. However, they had two blow fans to help keep it cool.It was almost 4:00 when I went by. There was only one other couple on a date night here.I got Catfish Strips, Fries and Two Hush Puppies. Strips were nicely breaded and crispy. Fries were crinkle cut but, seemed like Steak Fries because they were thick and long The Hush Puppies were sweet and crispy.I will come here again. New management and I can definitely taste and see the difference! I have been a Krispy Catfish customer for YEARS. I stopped eating here for a while because the quality had gone down hill. The new restaurant is clean and bright with new chairs, tables and drink fridge. The catfish is seasoned well, not too salty. Catfish has been consistently Krispy, and I've fortunately or unfortunately been returning once a week! They now serve the most delicious hush puppies and coleslaw! Anyway, I'll be back next week for my weekly fix!

This was a family favorite. Today the plump catfish fillets were reduced to dried out skinny sticks. Don't bother.

My lady wanted catfish (per the norm) for the weekend, so we looked for a spot in the area. Found this place the pictures looked legit, so off we went. We ordered the 1pc catfish dinner, 6 pc shrimp dinner, two sides of coleslaw and one egg roll. Here's the verdict;$29.00, later we received an extra piece of catfish, a side of okra that we didn't order which was cool. The egg roll was definitely overpriced for the size at $2.49. They may want to decrease that price back to their old one of .99 cents. The portion size were excellent, the fries and hushpuppies weren't fresh. The cornmeal on the fish and shrimp was salty making it difficult to eat the meal. The fries were over salted as while, the okra was fabulous right along with the coleslaw. Not bad! Everyone knows I'm a catfish snob. Growing up in the country in east Texas where your aunt fryers fresh catfish to perfection means you have high standards. Just moved to Fort Worth and needed a fix. Looked at places on Yelp and came across this spot. I live on the north side so I knew coming south meant it would be legit. Easy ordering and friendly staff. About ten minutes wait. Not bad.Fish is previously frozen but they do a good job making sure to remove the water prior to frying. Cornmeal is excellent. Seasoning was decent. Will try the strips next time. Overall not bad. I'd go back!

First, I love me some fried fish and catfish for sure! Use Yelp to find me a place close by. This seemed like it might be worthy of a 4+ score, but after further review not so much. First, it was hot in there, like 85 plus. No direct sunlight coming in, simply to AC was working. Second, funky oder in the air. Best thing about my first impression was the guy behind the counter, very pleasant and eager to help and make things right. And the music, old school R&B. Now, those speakers were singing in my ears. The food was a solid 4. Ordered the #16, with a side of okra. They forgot the fries and hush puppies. They finally got them to me, but by the time they arrived the food was cold. Without AC, I think I will order ahead ask for my order "to go" next time. There is room for improvement. Hope next time I come by I can give them a 5. For now, Overall, a solid 3.5 out of 5.

Dear Seniors,We love the catfish here, but sadly they never have any sides. She said tonight when I went in they would have tomorrow. But they say the same when my wife goes to get dinner. Again catfish is great, but I suggest you call first to see if they have sides advertised. The French fries tonight we're old and my two hush puppies were old too. Happy Trails,Chris and Sharon

So we were in the area visiting my family & wanted to grab some lunch. Good ole Yelp popped up options for catfish & skrimp, so we went with Krispy Catfish & called & placed our order. We were about 10 mins away & arrived before the food was ready. I went in & was greeted right away....very friendly staff. Food got ready & zoomed over to my sis house. Got in...spoke....got ready to eat after saying grace & chowed down. I really can't say much smart comments when the food is really way below average....it really gave me "chain restaurants" vibe!! The seasoning on the fish & shrimp.was just basic seasoning & the coleslaw was a bag mix.....the only decent things were the hushpuppies & okra. I wish restaurants would work on at least attempting to make their own tartar sauce....that aqua blue packet of tartar sauce ain't what it is!! Not a fan...won't be back

I grew up going to this place with my grandfather. Went by for the first time after his passing and it seems to have been bought by a new owner. Remodeling has taken away the homey environment it once had. Cameras added inside the store, a self service fridge with unhealthy out of house drinks. (Energy drinks? Prime?) Self service sauces /utensils is no longer an option. The catfish itself just doesn't have the same technique when being cooked. The breading fluffed and crisped separating from the fish. It was pretty rough getting through the meal for the price payed. It's painful to see such a staple food establishment go through such drastic changes. The interaction while getting my order taken felt short with a disinterested demeanor, ending with a forced smile.

Food is prepared when you order so it's not waiting under a heat lamp. Foods tastes good. Customer service is excellent. The guy at the counter is always nice and friendly. Seating area is clean. I would recommend this place.
