You'd think after frequenting this place throughout nearly 25 years that I'd know the owner's name. Big friendly Korean looking fellow. He always recognizes me (though he doesn't know my name either) and greets me with the warmest smile ever. I actually haven't experimented with the menu much. It has changed once or twice over the years, but the cashew shrimp has always been there and that's all I ever get. It is definitely a happy time when I get it. Now, there are some annoyances I've learned to deal with. The containers are VERY juicy and will leak if you tilt them at all. Be very, very careful. Of course, the rice will soak most of that up, but that's in the top compartments in the tray, so be careful. Also, don't plan on using the napkins they send. They out them in the bottom of the bag. And as careful as you can be, they still leak and napkins get soaked. The goal is to keep it off my car seats and if it takes some sacrificial napkins, then so be it. I just ate, but even thinking about it has me wishing for an order of cashew chicken right now. I love this place.

I've tried this place more than once and consider it very sub-par Chinese with few options. Rice is nothing special.

We've been coming here for years. Some of the dishes are very tasty but we were going for bland when we last went and we got bland when we ordered lo mein. If you want value, this is it! Good prices for a good amount of food.

I went here for lunch today. It's about as good as you'd expect. I'm not saying it was bad - I had a decent lunch and am very full. But it just wasn't anything to write home about so I am writing here instead. There are so many restaurants in the area like this one and I never go to any because they all look a bit run down. I'm going to try to visit them all so I can help you know if they are worth it.This is a very casual small chinese restaurant. There are about 10-12 tables inside (see photo). You order at the counter and sit down. The menu / items are a bit confusing. The menu up behind the counter doesn't have much listed, but there are a number of old photos with pictures and labels for many dishes. I got a hot and sour soup and a sesame chicken with rice and a diet Pepsi (no Coke). This came to $15.The hot and sour soup was freshly made - you can usually tell by how cloudy it is (or isn't, in the case of fresh soup). It tasted different than what I was expecting. Almost like it was made with a dense chicken broth. It didn't have any of the usual vegetables in it like mushrooms or bamboo shoots. Just egg and tofu. It was ok, but not great. They do give you some nice fried won tons to go with it.The chicken came out a few minutes later and it was funny because it looked very much like the picture - not super appetizing. The chicken had a heavy glaze and the rice was brown but I do not think it was brown rice. The chicken was all right - very sweet, not a lot of sesame on it but you know, for a place like this, is was good. I mean I ate the whole plate so that must mean something. The rice was shady - I couldn't tell if it was white rice mixed with a little soy or what. I always am wary of places that serve rice like this - they used to mix old/leftover rice like this and serve it as fresh. It was fine - bland but didn't taste off.I mean I had a decent lunch but I don't know that I am hankering to go back. It's good but not great.

I've been to many Chinese restaurants during my lifetime, but Joy Luck is by far the best! I live in Grand Prairie near I-20 and 161, but the 10 minute drive is definitely worth it.I'm a big broccoli and chicken fan and the "Broccoli Plate with Chicken" doesn't disappoint. The ingredients are super fresh, but the white sauce definitely makes the plate special. I'm not really a broccoli and beef person, but the brown sauce thy use with the "Broccoli Plate with Beef" is super delicious, as well. I was told that all of their sauces are made from scratch. In addition to the amazing food, the owner and staff are also very nice and friendly. This is my go to place when I want some good Chinese food! If you're in Grand Prairie, there's no excuse not to try it out! If you're in Dallas, Arlington, Irving, Duncanville, Cedar Hill or Mansfield and you're wanting to try something new, it's definitely worth the drive!

Great customer service! The gentleman who took my order was friendly and personable with me and everyone who walked in. The orange chicken I ordered was incredible, absolutely loved the crunch and flavor on the orange chicken. The only negative I'd say is, way to much sauce and the fried rice had no flavor or vegetables. Other then that, I'd recommend trying this restaurant out.

Joy Luck Joy Luck is your typical Americanized Chinese restaurant. I've never been inside of the restaurant because we always order takeout. Usually I like to eat authentic Chinese food. However sometimes I prefer eating Americanized Chinese. The dishes overall have an average portion size and good flavor. The lo mien are like pasta noodles but slightly thicker and have good flavor. The fried rice is just plain fried rice that has nothing on it. There meat dishes are cooked tender and all taste how they are supposed to be. The only dish I don't like is the sesame chicken because there is a tiny bit to much batter on the chicken and there are also small pieces of fried batter with no chicken. My most favorite dish they have is the kung pao chicken. The dish is mild and I wish it was spicier. The dish also has nuts and water chestnuts to give the dish a crunchy and refreshing texture from the water chestnuts. I recommend ordering the beef lo mien, kung pao chicken.

Service was fast. I had the fried rice with chicken, the crab Rangoon and a side order of sesame chicken. The rice had a great flavor the crab Rangoon seems frozen and fried but I still liked them and the sesame chicken was tasty as well. The portions are huge. My only gripe is that the lady said I could only have one set of cutlery. It was enough to feed 3 people.
