Master of disguise. That is how best to describe JJ's Taco shop. This is a genuinely great Mexican food stop that should be a brick and mortar location, disguised as mall food. I swear I can think of a few places that are sit down Mexican restaurants, or that charge you as such, that are not even in the same ballpark as JJ's.Nothing is less than fresh. The flavors are layered into all the ingredients. The picture you have in your mind of how you want the order come out to you comes nowhere close to the actual final product. They exceed your expectations. Super, super fast service, yet the flavor is as if it took forever to get them to that level. The meat is tender. Not tough beef, but simmer, delicate, tender, juicy Beef Asada. The onions are sauteed and add depth. We had Quesadillas and Loaded fries. Got it home, the food was still piping hot. The tortilla shell was buttery, crisp, just really packed full of meat, cheese, onions, goodness you'd expect at a much higher price point, at a sit down Mexican restaurant. I had one issue. I am 1 pound from 200, Covid-19 gains, and the portions are generous and are not going to help with my trying to cut back and lose the extra 5 I gained the last year or so. Oozing with cheese, stacked with meat. Thanks JJ's. You are not helping me lose weight. So whatever you think about mall food, toss it out, rethink it all. Imagine white linen on that mall table. Imagine a wait staff doting on you if you need too because this food is on par with that experience. Even valet park your taste buds here if you must.Tip generously because you did not pay what this food is worth at the register. You didn't, trust me. The amount of meals and portions I got would have cost no less than 25% more plus tips at a couple of other spots close by. This is why I felt okay tipping generously. I was still way ahead. Till next time. Stay safe, get your vaxx, and booster, if not for you, for someone you love. Don't be that story of someone that said they should have. We need you alive and Yelping. We need you enjoying good food, great experiences, and the love of your family.Take care.

My review is for the watermelon drink and queso/chips. Needed a quick snack and it hit the spot. I'd come back to try the tacos. But the Korean corndog next door always grabs my attention. Enjoy!

So let me start by saying, this shop is in North East Mall's food court. I know, I know, five stars for a food court joint?! C'mon now... This spot has THE best elote, and steak asada tacos. Reasonably priced, with INSANE flavor. Yunno what Guy Fieri says about flavor town??? Well, this place definitely takes you there!! Wishing this place was a stand alone spot, I'm sure they'd make a killing!!!!! A literal GEM.

Extremely underwhelming food. I'm so surprised by some reviews raving of exploding flavor and to die for food as this was not my experience by any means, but did note that a lot of those reviews were from quite some time ago. Maybe the quality of this place is descending along with the mall itself as Northeast Mall is expected to be just as dead as Ridgemar Mall in the next few years. I had the steak asada tacos after trusting a positive review, and deeply regret spending money here. They put an overwhelming amount of large grilled onions in the tacos, which I had to pick out, a generous amount of low grade beef (you will find yourself spitting out so many fatty pieces of meat that you cannot really enjoy the taco) and this is all stuffed in one thin corn tortilla where traditionally (at least in Texas) you see tacos have two tortillas. I sense a lot of corners being cut at this establishment and don't care to spend more money trying to see if they'll get it right. Steak tacos are your bottom line judge of a good taco shop, and this place is just not it. I was also very shocked by the claim of exceptional flavor since I had to add salt and pack on a large amount of hot sauce to enjoy my lunch even a little bit. You are safer sticking with your typical fried rice food court options.

Just moved to Texas from Colorado and saw this place in the food court at the mall. Decided to give it a try and couldn't be happier! I ordered the asada steak bowl and it was spectacular. The ingredients and toppings were fresh, the steak was juicy and cooked perfectly. It's great to find small businesses with amazing quality food, I highly recommend this if you're looking for a great place to eat. I was so impressed my step son wanted a bowl too and then we got a quesadilla for my other son. Thanks for the amazing food and we will be back!

I went to the mall to get my necklace fixed & decided to try this place. I ordered elotes & a taco plate (corn tortillas & i chose biste as my meat). They give you a choice of 1 hot sauce out 6-7 different kinds varying from mild to hot. That's what I took the one star off for. I love my tacos! I love my chili/salsas; I have never ever been to any restaurant, street taco, fast food, etc.. that limited the amount of hot sauce you could have. The portion of the taco plate was good for me. Most places give you 3 tacos but I was satisfied because the tacos were very full of meat. The beans were very flavorful & on point. The rice was just as flavorful, I'm just not doing carbs so I let someone else have those items. My cheat was the elote! It was huge! The picture doesn't do it justice. It was piping hot too. Very nice. Everything would have been excellent if I could have had 4 hot sauces to try different ones instead of 1. I don't want to pay extra for a teaspoon of hot sauce. Other than that! Good tacos!

Poor customer service and care put into food will not be back. Swinging by for work after coming multiple times for something fast I've ordered my vegetarian burrito without problem maybe 5 times. I pay normal pricing every time even when my burrito is meatless. My order is simple. I stop by wanting soup they're not serving, I ask for gorditas they ran out, I ask to build my burrito get told no. Good bye JJs taco shop I will never order or bring family and friends to try ever again.

Discovered a small taco shop today. They have an extensive menu including weekend specials, lunch specials and a drink menu. I opted for the blue crab enchiladas with a side of black beans. As you can see from the photo the presentation is similar to what you'd expect to see in a upscale restaurant. The portion was large in my opinion since it came with a large basket of chips and salsa. Speaking of salsa, I was presented with a sample of mild to wild salsa. Tempt your tastebuds and try this little corner restaurant. I was impressed with the quality, presentation and surroundings.
