Hungry Fox Restaurant

We had dinner and lunch at the Hungry Fox while staying nearby. We really enjoyed it both times. First was dinner: Queso with chorizo (great) for an app, then we had Their Smash-burger special & grilled fish - both were great! They had live music later in the evening which was fun. The following day we decided to go back (both because it was good and there aren't a lot of options without driving an hour around the lake). Second time around we got nachos for an app (great). I enjoyed the smash burger so I got that again, we also got the fried catfish. The catfish was good enough. They have a great bar, and a surprisingly good bourbon selection. The Meh: The beer on tap was barely chilled, borderline room temp. Get a bottled beer. The service was okay, they were moderately busy but it felt understaffed. This wasn't really an issue because it's the type of place you go to hangout, not to expect the best service of your life. The waitresses were busting their butts to take care of everyone. Overall it was a great spot, we went twice in the 2 days we were there, so that says enough. If you're debating on somewhere to go, just go here.

Great experience!!!! The food was wonderful and the views are spectacular!! Friday night they had live music so that is an added plus. Get the three amigos- salsa, guac, queso!!!The drinks are delicious as well!

Didn't realize they'd switched solely to family style dining for dinner. $14.95 per adult, pick your protein and 2 family sides for the table, ($3.95 additional sides) salad and hush puppies for appetizers.Salad was fresh and cold, pretty generic though, iceberg, some grated cheese, croutons, and grape tomatoes. Choice of dressing. Hush puppies were okay.I ordered the fried catfish because it's always good, and it was this time too. But I liked the old catfish dinner for $13.95 that included hush puppies, slaw, beans, and 1 side. The family style service is a little clunky, service itself was sporadic, I think they're trying to make the family style idea work to turn tables faster, but just put in a buffet if you're gonna do it that way, how often does a four top agree on two sides? That's about the same average price for a weekend dinner buffet. I liked the menu better the old way, maybe they'll change it back. Catfish was still good though.

This place looks scary. The getting to it is again a bit scary by car- fine by boat. The service is laid back very simple sort of place- probably family owned and ran. The food is AWESOME. I really can't say that I have ever strayed from the catfish myself... it is too freaking delicious to even think of trying anything else. We have also had the nachos as appetizers and they were yummy as well. You HAVE to try this place!!! Do not fear the outside nor the fishing lure sales area as you walk in ;) I am telling you the food ROCKS!

If you want to have great yummy food and amazing service come here! Must try the popular PK punch alcohol drink! Yummmy. You can tell the new owner put a lot of time into this menu. Also check out the cabins they are Amazing this place won't disappoint.

Cool place on the lake. Tried it for lunch one week day when it got hot. It was a cool place to relax and the food was great!

Some of the best catfish I have ever eaten so 3 stars! The tartar sauce was excellent as well. The rest of the meal was mediocre and the service was flat out awful. The ice tea was tasteless, the coleslaw was bland and no employee ever once acted like they were remotely happy to be there. Had to ask for mustard three times, and had to go and get our own napkins and lemons. The young blond waitress actually walked off WHILE WE WERE ASKING FOR SOMETHING!! Nobody was friendly at all. When tourists are where you make your money, be nice to them!

I am not a catfish fan but the catfish at this place is amazing!! Have had the blackened catfish several times and never been disappointed. The bartender/waitress at the cantina, Jasmine, is great!! Very friendly and attentive! We ordered the fried strings and pickles and SHE sent them back because they looked terrible! Terry, on the dock, was friendly and helped us secure our boat. The biggest complaint is that they only serve beer and wine! Wine based cocktails... A full bar would be a great addition to this place!!
