So, you know that friend in Austin that has a horrible apartment, but during SXSW you still stay there because hotels are super expensive and everything is booked? THIS IS THAT FRIEND, in hotel format.Yes, it's crappy. All the reviews that say the place is dated and this-or-that is broken are probably true. BUT, the bed is comfy. The AC in room 12 got the job done, albeit a little noisily. Staff was friendly. And it was $250 less than any other hotel within walking distance of Billy Bob's where we were seeing Robert Earl Keen.I'd stay here again, but I'd get there early in case there was something seriously wrong with the room I was assigned. That way I could switch to a better room before they were all full. And, they will all be full if there's a good show anywhere nearby. And for all the haters--you will always get what you pay for. If you want the $300 room, book it. Do not book the $100 room on concert night and expect the quality of the $300 room.

I tend to believe that life is pretty simple one example is how you keep your house in order. A hotel is a home away from home. Though it is a business it's whole concept is to create a friendly warm environment. We chose this location because it is so close to the stockyards. The $113 that we paid is worth this convenience. But when it comes to the warm friendly environment this hotel is only a $49 a night hotel. When we arrived the hostess was on the phone nonstop. It was not a warm friendly welcome. I would call it a very efficient method of taking my money and pushing me out the door to our room. When we entered our room we were greeted with Decour that was appropriate for Fort Worth and the stockyards. But once we got settled in we were greeted with layers upon layers of dust, dirt and scum. To add to this problem we had to deal with broken fixtures. My message to those who are seeking a hotel that is very close to the stockyards this is your best option but it is truly a disgusting place. To the owners and management you should be ashamed of taking other people's hard earned money and providing such deplorable sleeping accommodations. Location: five starsDecor: four starsCleanliness: -5 starsPossible charm buried in dirt and repair: 5 stars.

The place is a dump but it was cheap for a one night room in the stockyards. The lady who runs it is rude as hell. don't take any of her nonsense & stick up for yourself. She asked me three times to pay for the 2nd night & I told her I would..then she tried the "must pay in cash" nonsense so I told her she was full of sh*# & that I paid with a card for the first night. If you absolutely have to stay in the stockyards just book way in advance somewhere else

I don't recommend this place to anyone, unless you like to be welcomed to a hot room in the evening with no moving A/C, which is a terrible welcome to any Texas hotel in Summer. The front desk attendant looked like he was about to go out for brunch and to participate in a softball tournament sponsored by "I don't care" types. The location is premium, but DAMN, this place needs help across the board.0.5 Stars Overall

No stars. This place is run by criminals. Double booking rooms. And rude.Wife bought two rooms via Hotwire. When she and her girls went to check in rude lady at desk told her she only had bought one room and that there was only one room available. My wife's paper work said two rooms. Rude lady (stupidly) showed my wife the hotel's paperwork and it "said" two rooms! They had to go to another hotel. Ridiculous! Avoid at all cost. The hotel obviously took Hotwire's money and double sold the room.

Worst "hotel". I have ever stayed in! Arrived at 3:15 & was told to walk around for 30 minutes while they got a room ready for me. I gave them an hour and a half & my room was still not ready. I wait some more while they clean a room & the TV does not work & the toilet does not flush. They move me to the 2nd floor..no elevator in this piece of shit no tell motel..the TV does not work here either, toilet does not flush in this room either. I asked for at least half of my money back & was offered $25 of the $135 I paid to stay here. The location was exactly what I needed but quite honestly, the next time I need to come to the stockyards I will simply call Uber...the cost round trip is about the same & I won't be worrying about bed bugs when I sleep!! My room door does not lock either! I should have paid attention to the reviews I read & passed on this piece of shit MOTEL ..on no level does this dump qualify for hotel status!!!

If I could give ZERO stars I would! The Asian woman who owns this company can not be understood whatsoever! Charged us $99 for a night we did not stay and was extremely RUDE when I tried to get an explanation! DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS HOTEL!

For starters, 'Hotel Texas' needs to be appropriately classified as a 'Motel'. We stayed here on NY Eve due to it's close proximity to the Stockyards. That is the only single positive thing this establishment has going for them. We knew the "Hotel" was outdated & we were okay with that (our group had 4 rooms for the evening) however this place is down right disgusting. Hopefully no one in our group will start the New Year our with a case of scabies or bed bugs.... At $175 per room, you would expect it to at least be clean. Yikes. Wish we had taken more photos but this will give you an idea of the filth we slept it. At least we all had plenty of drinks before climbing in bed!

Granted, I understand it's $90 and close to the stockyards, but it's TERRIBLE. Dirty, terrible management, simply gross. 1. The lady (owner) at the was horribly rude. She wouldn't take my credit card, and wanted cash. She said the machine was broken, but after I challenged her and refused to pay in cash, she finally took my credit card.2. There is not free parking, as listed. When I asked her about that, she said, "You are just going to look around and find a spot on the street."3. Outside doors don't lock. Security does not exist.4. The room: FILTHY - my girlfriend would not only not take her socks off, she wouldn't sit on the bed. Dust is super thick everywhere. There was a half smoked cigarette inside on the window sill - we don't smoke. Walls were destroyed and had holes all in them. The worst park - the entire room smelled like cat piss. Completely disgusting.So...we went to a concert, while there we decided that we were not going to stay there. At 1:00 we went back, got our stuff, and wanted to drop off the key. Nobody was behind the desk, so I rang the bell - LOUD. She finally comes out and asks what wrong, when I gave her the key, and how foul her hotel is, she wanted to show me another room. NOPE.I don't care how close to the stock yards you want to be, and how much money you want to save, DO NOT stay here.

I've never left a negative review. In fact I downloaded the yelp app just to leave this. I know you get what you pay for, but in this case it's just too much. I can deal with bad facilities. I can't deal with overtly rude staff. Some lady lives there, and she doesn't make it feel like a welcoming hotel. She makes it feels like we are invading her house, and everything we do is an inconvenience. When she wasn't in her room, she was on the phone most of the time, as we stood there, patiently waiting for her to acknowledge our existence. The rest of the time she was hold up in her room, with no one left out front to tend to the guests. We were there for two days. Our tv didn't work. Instead of trying to fix it, she offered to give us some money back. Which she never did because I bought online, and received a "discount." So by that logic, purchasing the rooms from hotels.com means we're not entitled to tv. The credit card machine doesn't work, so it's cash only up front. There is no WiFi, so don't believe that. There's not coffee in the rooms. There's a small pot up front. There's no breakfast, so don't believe that. One day we were their she opened up a box of honey buns. All in all. We didn't enjoy it. We felt like we were an inconvenience in someone else's house. Not a valued guest.
