Hokkaido Ramen House - Mckinney

The Asian food scene in McKinney is getting better by day and I'm all here for it. Hokkaido is definitely the better ramen I've had in McKinney. I highly recommend to order their appetizers as they do them very well, especially anything fried. If you already live in the area and don't want to travel far for good ramen, Hokkaido will absolutely satisfy your craving.(5/5) Bang Bang ShrimpAbsolutely divine! It comes with six big pieces of shrimp battered and deep fried dressed in sweet, slightly tangy and spicy house sauce. It is so crunchy and the jalapeños and the cilantro garnish pairs so well.(4.5/5) Spicy Garlic EdamameI don't usually order edamame but this one was delicious cooked with garlic butter and covered in savory spicy sauce. It's not very spicy but the sauce makes it pretty addicting.(4.5/5) Shrimp and Vegetable TempuraGenerous portion of 4 pieces of fried shrimp and 6 different pieces of fried vegetables. The battering on the vegetables are so crunchy and the vegetables were not over cooked. As a tempura lover, I approve.(4.5/5) Miso RamenMade with rich pork and chicken broth with light garlic and soy bean paste, the broth has lots of flavor and nuttiness. And the noodles are cooked al dante to my liking.(4/5) Garlic Tonkotsu RamenMade with extra rich pork bone broth with a garlic and shio base, the light fragrant of garlic is nice with the broth. The broth didn't have as much depth as Miso, so consider this a semi-light tonkotsu ramen. Still good!

If you want to come watch people eat worms on Fear Factor while you are eating this is your spot! Tantanmen tasted like fish and nothing like pork. The veggie Ramen had tofu in it. On the menu it doesn't say it comes with it. (Mind you we had someone with a soy bean allergy and it came in the ramen) Fried calamari has no squid in it when it says it does on the menu

I tried the veggie bowl and was initially skeptical because tomatoes were one of the toppings. I still decided to give it a try since it was the only veggie option. I ordered it extra spicy, and while I couldn't taste the spice as much as I expected, I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I appreciated that ordering extra spicy didn't cost extra, and I have a feeling I wouldn't have liked the ramen as much without the added heat. All the toppings complemented each other perfectly--the tofu was fresh and paired well with the spicy broth. The noodles had an excellent texture and stayed firm, unlike those in some other veggie ramen I've tried. I also got a lot of noodle and price was very reasonable.Overall, it was a delicious and satisfying meal. The service was great, and there was plenty of seating!

Normally I'd avoid a sushi place next to a Walmart. But stumbled in after a walk at Bonnie Wenk park. Dang this is exceptional in atmosphere, presentation, food quality and price! The garlic tonkatsu ramen is killer. Wife loved the spicy beef ramen. And sushi rolls were great!

Great ramen and nice service! The broth was pretty good and the restaurant gave a generous amount of noodles (not as much protein- but this was expected). The restaurant was cute, and had plenty of seating! They had boba available and poke as well (in addition to ramen).

After living in Koreatown in Los Angeles, I have my expectations for ramen a bit high. The food was good but the ramen hunt continues. The service was kind and friendly. May be a tad on the pricier side.

ORDER- Combo: Poke Bowl + Hokkaido Milk Tea with BobaThe combo was $14.99 for both which was a pretty good deal. The boba was pretty mid. There was lots of ice, not a lot of milk tea flavor, and the boba was super hard. However, the poke bowl was really good. I got my bowl with white rice, salmon, cucumber, avocado, and mango topped with spicy mayo, poke sauce, green onion, crunchy, and sesame seeds. All the ingredients were fresh and the salmon was really tasty. I will say the only thing was that they put a load of crunchy stuff which kind of overpowered the dish but other than that it was good.VIBESSeating is tables with chairs. Definitely more of a fast-food/casual feel to the place. Lots of groups of people and dates. Very bright lighting from the window and at the time I went in October so they had some Halloween decorations. SERVICEService was overall great and quick. Drinks came out within 5 minutes and food some minutes after. Very nice people!

My cousin swears by this place the spring rolls were pretty good so was the spicy shrimp and the sushi was okay I'll have to try the ramen next time though.

TL;DR: Service was bad, Takoyaki was okay, ramen was completely flavorless with cheap premade noodles that I can get in a 99¢ pack of ramenI have come here a couple of times to pick up Takoyaki for takeout but finally decided to dine in with my wife for the first time. We started with Takoyaki which took almost 15 minutes to come out and we ordered our ramen when it came. We then waited over 40 minutes for our flavorless ramen to come out, all while our waitress avoided us. We watched 2-3 more tables come in after us and all get their food within 15 minutes of sitting down.

Small place ramen was good. Don't expect a lot in ambiance just go for the ramen and enjoy it. We will return
