Since Hachi has the word Omakase in the name, I think it's only fair to draw comparisons to Kinzo in West Frisco. My wife and I were considering going to Kinzo, which we have visited twice already, but we ended up here on a whim. Ended up being a fortunate decision. We ordered the Chef Special, which is an omakase dish for 2-3 people. The food was fresh, thoughtful and included enough variety to hold your foodie interest until everything was gone. The server/owner really spoiled us, in the most genuine and enjoyable sense of the word. To be fair, the venue is not as large and elaborate as Kinzo but equally manicured, and there's no denying there's more of an immersive vibe in the ambiance at Kinzo. Both places are phenomenal, and if you're ok with skipping the omakase with chef's commentary at Kinzo (which you need to do at least once in your life) then I am pretty sure you won't regret visiting Hachi.

My wife and I went last night for a date night and it was a great experience! Omekase was affordable and delicious! The chef we had was from Yokohama and such a friendly man! The quality of the fish, flavors, freshness, and textures were AWESOME! What a great experience. For anyone who is a fan of the anime "Food Wars" there were several moments where a bite of Chef's sushi sent me straight to the ocean, almost as if the fish was just caught, cut, and transferred to my mouth. Service reminded me of Commander's Palace in NOLA, aka IMPECCABLE. Our server had water cups refilled if the ice melted just a tad, plates replaced with just a little food dirtiness, and was at the ready at all times (granted it was not that busy at the time). We paired our meal with one of their sake selections which was clean, crisp, smooth, and delicious. And it came in a super cool carafe!
