Foster's in downtown Roanoke has long been one of my go-to sushi spots, consistently delivering fresh, flavorful rolls that never disappoint. Whether dining in or grabbing takeout, the food remains top-notch. However, my experience today left something to be desired in the service department.I stopped by to place a to-go order for date night, and the bright spot of the evening was Aarti, who was friendly, polite, and efficient in taking my order. She even guided me to the bar to wait while my food was being prepared. But here's where things took a turn--despite sitting there for about 10 minutes, neither the bartender nor the manager acknowledged me. No offer of a drink, no simple "Hey, we'll be right with you"--just silence. Now, I'm a patient and easygoing guy, but being completely ignored wasn't exactly the welcoming vibe I expected.Thankfully, Aarti circled back to check on me, proving that at least someone on staff was paying attention. Ultimately, the sushi was as fantastic as ever, but the lack of basic hospitality from the bar staff and management was disappointing. I'll be back for the food, but I hope the service gets back up to par.

I'm a fan of Fosters. I've been here now twice I think and it has fresh sushi and tasty. Had love at first sight roll and some sake salmon. The martini I wasn't a fan of but. Everything else was excellent and service was good.

This place continue to be fantastic, a great sushi happy hour choice. I wish there were more alcoholic offerings for HH, as I'm not big on martinis, but still the food variety is great. This time we started off as usual with an avocado bomb and heart attack - these are must order items!! Then we tried 2 new things - the spicy pork bulgogi lettuce wrap, which were very great and a nice way to vary up what we ordered, and for sushi we decide to try the Oakley Dokey. This roll was good but I think I still prefer the Firecracker off the HH menu - although there are a few more I want to try that I haven't yet that could change that. Service during happy hour has always been good and quick to get food out. Definitely the most affordable and delicious sushi option that I know of in the area!

I took my team out to thank them for doing an awesome job. One of my coworkers did some research on best restaurants near our office and found Foster's. We were craving some sushi and Asian food. One of my coworkers got crazy roll and steak hamachi. Another coworker got shrimp hamachi. I got sushi and sashimi bento and yellowtail roll. We all loved our food! The restaurant was super clean, the staff were super attentive, and the food was super tasty! We're definitely planning our next lunch at Foster's so we can try more dishes.

Fosters is a hidden gem amongst downtown Roanoke. They have great selection of rolls and appetizers. The servers are very helpful and the Sushi chefs are absolutely dialed in. The panfried dumplings are some of the best i've ever had. They also have hibachi on the menu as well, which is very nicely priced. It's in a great location and the inside is clean and nicely decorated. Give it a shot the next time you're craving sushi.

In town for a corporate meeting and had takeout from here. Order the 6oz Chicken Hibachi with fried rice and miso soup. The food was ready in 15 minutes and was very good. My only complaint is that there should have been more vegetables in the meal. Otherwise. I would go back and hear again.

If you're ever in Keller this place is a must-try. The food is delicious and reasonably priced and the service is incredible. I ordered the Propose roll (spicy tuna and jalapeño inside, yellowtail, thinly sliced lemon, and mustard outside), a spicy salmon roll and the yellowtail belly and salmon sushi. Everything was fresh and had great flavor!Their drink selection is also top notch, including the beer and sake list! The premium/flavored sakes are worth the extra penny for sure.Fiona was my server and was just so lovely. She showed me all her favorites on the menu (salmon was her recommendation) and really made it feel like she was having me over for dinner in her home!I'll definitely be back to try everything on their massive menu. It's clean and upscale enough for a nice date or work lunch/dinner, but casual enough for a weeknight bite. My new favorite spot!
