El Primo's Mexican Grill & Cantina serves up authentic Mexican cuisine with a modern twist in a fun, vibrant setting. Known for their house-made margaritas and Tex-Mex favorites, it's the kind of spot where you can settle in for a casual lunch or a lively evening with friends.I stopped by on a Monday afternoon around 2 PM for lunch, and the restaurant was pretty quiet. We were seated in their massive covered patio area, which was nice and airy, though the quiet vibe meant there was no problem grabbing a table.I ordered the Pecan Chicken Flautas, which were a standout. They take chicken, chopped pecans, and cheese, roll it up in a corn tortilla, deep fry it, and top it with a tequila-lime slaw, queso fresco, and Mexican crema. Mine came with a side of queso, cilantro lime rice, and refried beans, making it the perfect hearty lunch. I loved that they give you the option to turn what's usually an appetizer into a full meal--it was flavorful and super crunchy.To pair with my meal, I had the Blue Champagne cocktail, which is an upside-down margarita served with a Prosecco split. It's as fun and festive as it sounds, and a great way to kick off pre-gaming before the upcoming Cowboys game I was heading to that night.Service was the only hiccup. Despite the restaurant being pretty quiet (only one other table in our section), service was surprisingly slow. Not a dealbreaker by any means, but something to keep in mind.Overall, El Primo's delivered great food and drinks in a laid-back atmosphere. I'd definitely come back to try more of their menu, but maybe when I'm not in a rush.

Definitely not south Texas Mexican food but what they have is tasty. They have a great variety of salsa too.I really enjoyed the Jalisco Old Fashioned but unfortunately our server rarely came by after the food came. They were not understaffed so I guess that's how they roll in North Texas.

Large restaurant that's good for bigger parties. There's a covered patio area with live music sometimes as well as an upstairs dining area. We visited on a Friday evening and there was free valet offered as well as a bounce house in front of the restaurant. The food was good, though I think service on the second floor differs a little from the first level dining as we were given plastic cups with water and our tortilla chips were in small paper food service trays.

I had my post birthday dinner here. What an amazing night. The service is always exceptional. The staff is so friendly. My server was Roni she was attentive to all our needs . Ambiance is beautiful inside and outside. Family oriented. They had bouncy castle for kids they have rides outside for kids . Casual dining or dressy dining your choice. Every one was happy and friendly. Valet parking. Not expensive they accept donations . They gave me a birthday dessert. They have mock tails . Tv located through out the restaurant. Amazing place. Staff is always friendly. Ty for making my birthday dinner amazing.

Hubby and I used to make this our date night place. The food is good and atmosphere is nice especially the new patio that was added we enjoyed it. Since then Mansfield has been growing, we just started trying new spots.

By far the best shrimp enchiladas I've eaten. Enjoyed happy hour bc their drinks are good! Paloma please!

El Primo's Mexican Grill is located off Matlock Road in Heritage Plaza, serving classic Mexican meals and margaritas in a beautiful modern setting.We came by to dine in on a weekday afternoon, and we're seated right away from the lovely hostess. Inside is very spacious with plenty of chairs and tables in a dimmed environment with blue LED lights surrounding this fine establishment. There is a bar inside with multiple TVs throughout the restaurant, playing local sports and news. There is also a patio dining area with garage style doors that open during the cooler months in Texas. Our waiter handed us the menus and gave us ample time to browse through the drink and food menus before he came back to take our order. For the drinks, we went ahead and placed an order for the berry margaritas and blue margaritas. We went ahead and ordered the fish tacos and had them grilled. For the kids, we ordered the queso macaroni penny pasta, which came with potato wedges and a small serving on banana pudding. Last but not least, for the main entrees, we went with the prime steak beef fajitas for 2. Chips and salsa were also served to us as a complimentary dish, and the salsa was indeed very herbal and tasty!Our food came out within 15 minutes, looking stunning as ever, and I was ready to dig in. The fish tacos came with 2 tacos in a flour tortilla and Spanish rice with black beans. They tasted fantastic as the fish was well seasoned and grilled. They were garnished with a cabbage slaw and a special sauce. The steak fajitas were looking exquisite and smelt phenomenal! They came perfectly cut into strips with 2 pieces of corn on the cob and a redskin potato. They were garnished with green vibrant chopped cilantro laying beneath a bed of thinly sliced caramelized onions and red and green bell peppers soaking in the beef drippings making it flavorful than ever! Along with the beef fajitas came sides of freshly made guacamole and Pico along with cheddar and mozzarella cheese and sour cream. Beneath the sizzling dish of fajitas were soft and warm flour tortillas waiting for you to stuff and dress them properly so you can eventually devour them.The customer service provided was second to none, and our waiter provided top-notch service to us and was eager to serve us in every way he possibly could. They have happy hour specials on select drinks and food throughout the week, and the margaritas are as good than ever. They definitely didn't skimp out on the tequila, and the drinks came packing with a flavorful punch!I'm looking forward to coming back and trying something different from the menu and maybe catching one of their happy hour specials they have.

Go on a Friday night for live music! Great spot to meet with friends for drinks & dinner. The Mexican Sangria was delicious. I had the chicken baked chili relleno, yum. There were 3 salsas to try. I loved the pineapple salsa with chips & the creamy jalapeño sauce was good on the mixed veggies with my meal. Our waitress was friendly & attentive.

Food was good. The service was fast and it was good Mexican food. The portions are big a decent lunch spot.Lunch for 2 =40 coconuts

The food and atmosphere was amazing! Went for a lunch meeting and can't wait to go back. Exceptional service as well! Highly recommend!!!!
