Don Melquias Mexican Restaurant

This is the Benbrook locationFor a newly open restaurant, I'm giving them the GREAT score. First our waiter kept our salsa and chips replenished... which I'm not sure was a good thing, as both are very tasty. My first choice of a Chili Relleno (stuff chili) the kitchen was out of. My second Enchilada La Bandera was very good. We also a Fajita salad and it was a generous portion as well and very good. The service was excellent. The waiter did everything to keep us happy. Also, I liked that the manager was out on the floor observing and helping. Don't expect if you don't inspect!The ambiance does need some improvement. The noise level is good... much better than most restaurants. The light level is over the top...bright! Appears to be new lighting.. hopefully a dimmer can be installed. There is still an 'office' in the front that really could be used for a guest waiting area and really help the traffic flow at the front door, as it is really crowded with people coming and going. It's take away from the dining experience to be standing in the way of people attempting to leave and no where to move to with people coming in. There is a patio! I have been told that the space is not usable. I hope that is not the case or repairs are coming soon. It was be a nice place to enjoy drinks and dinner. Overall, I can see Don Melquias~Benbrook doing very well.

Don Melquias Mexican Restaurant is a bit out of our range, and we do like the place that is closer to us... But we see this add in our Church bulletin every Sunday, for "15% OFF - Good only Wed, Sat, Sun - With Bulletin", so we decide to give it a try. It was perfectly OK, with very good service. I'm a sucker for a relleno, so I had the:"CHILE RELLENO DINNEROne poblano pepper stuffed with ground beef, chicken or cheese, covered with our amazing queso sauce. $11.99"It was good, but I'm still in search for a grilled option.Since it's a new to us place, Thuy went for the:"MEXICAN DINNEROne beef enchilada with queso sauce, one chicken enchilada with sour cream sauce and one tamale with chili sauce. $12.25"Pretty good. Nothing crazy good. Not quite enough to have us drive this far... But if we were in the neighborhood Wed, Sat, or Sun, and if Thuy was in the mood...

This review is for the Benbrook location.....service was great, friendly staff, food was really good, chicken enchiladas were great, bean & cheese nachos as well. Love the chips & salsa!! Very bright and clean restaurant.

This is our go to spot in Acton when headed to the lake. They recently updated the inside (see photo) and included new tables. They have COLD beer and the service is always outstanding. Houston is super helpful and is our waiter most of the time. We get the chicken fajitas and it's a huge portion that comes out. My son gets the chicken strips and loves them also.

I was very surprised at the quality of the food.We were a party of four and waited for 50 minutes for our food. I'm guessing they're shorthanded by the hiring signage they have posted. We ordered fish tacos, flautas, and cheese enchiladas. The enchiladas we sent back to reheat and the fish tacos were just bland.The flautas weren't anything to brag about.The trio of Fajitas were okay! However, the chicken and shrimp were very dry, and the beef fajitas were tasty but tough. The waitress we had seemed to do the best she could.Just because a parking lot is full doesn't mean the food is good. Being the only Mexican restaurant in town, it is what it is.

Friendly service. Food was good but nothing outstanding. Not bad for a small neighborhood place.

Bean/Cheese nachos GREAT! Chili Rellenos, great! Our server was RUDE! The other server in our area was great! Clean and pretty quick. Good salsa!

Great prices, good food, good margaritas. Service was good and fast. The tortilla chips are heavier than the thin ones and I prefer them that way.

Food was great came from the kitchen hot as is expected when ordering Mexican food! Tap beer was cold!Server was awesome, went out of here way to make everything the way you want it.Place was clean and staff was friendly.

The food is excellent, the ambiance is enjoyable and the service is very pleasant.I have eaten a lot of Mexican food in my lifetime but I can honestly say this place is my favorite. The flavors are wonderful. Most of the dishes are on the spicy side. My niece brought me here originally, pointed out that my enchilada sauces were the colors of the Mexican flag. The chicken enchiladas were packed full of meat, the beef enchilada was also packed full of meat. They're poblano pepper was delicious. There are several other items on their menu. I want to try prior to traveling on.For the ambience, she pointed out the fact that every booth had a painted scene on it that was unique to that booth. The chairs if you sit at a table, I found more comfortable than the boost simply because they were more barreled shape. I am a full-time RVer. Texas is my home state and I cannot get enough of it. But I can honestly say the Mexican food here is the best I have had, where the restaurant still exist today and the families have continued it. Before I leave this area, I will make several more trips to this restaurant.
