Desi Chowrastha

I live close by and love utilizing the grocery store, I always find fresh produce and spices.I have ordered takeout many times, but lately the food I have ordered isn't what it has been in the past. I always order mixed vegetable curry. The last times all I get are potatoes in my "mixed vegetables ". This is meal number 3 and Very disappointing. Not sure if I'll go back, I don't mind a few pieces, but all large chunks and little bits of something isn't a good curry. The naan was not very fresh, it was very dry like a cracker. Sorry, you don't have any way to directly email you , so this is my only way to communicate that you need to do better.

I wanted this experience to be good! It hurts to write this! I arrived at 1 pm knowing it was going to be busy by the parking lot. I had been driving past this location for months and really wanted to try it. The grocery store part of the building was backed but the restaurant side had a few tables with people eating and no one at the counter. I saw the digital boards with all the items on them, but there was no description and as a novice to Indian food, I was hoping there would be a paper menu or the staff would be helpful. There was no paper according to the woman marking behind the counter, so I asked her for recommendations that were not butter chicken as that is something I've had in the past and enjoyed, but I really want to try something new, I'm not sure if there was a communication barrier or if she was not interested in helping me but she just kept telling me to order the butter chicken. As I was on my lunch break I agreed because I wasn't getting anywhere and I honestly didn't recognize any of the names on the menu, I also ordered these warm pastries. They had in the case that were filled with chickpeas and vegetables. I got everything to go and was told it would be 15 to 20 minutes this was no problem and I went to wander the store. The store had an amazing selection of all kinds of foods I recognize and did not recognize. There was a very helpful girl working that helped me pick out some sweets as well as some snacks to try. There's only one cashier so it took a while to check out, which again wasn't a problem because I was waiting on my food. return to the restaurant and waited. Finally, after 30 minutes, my food was ready and it smelled delicious and I headed home. Once I got home and dished everything out. I realize I had three pieces of chicken in the butter chicken, which is really disappointing. Because they were small and not even bite-size. The sauce however, was delicious as was the rice. I really enjoyed the chickpea pastries. For the price I paid it wasn't worth three tiny little pieces of chicken however tasty everything else was. I also did not appreciate the staff unwillingness to help or at least answer basic questions. I'm not sure if I'll return to this location as I felt extremely unwelcome.

Chowrastha in Northlake offers food of decent quality, and it seems to be a regular stop for us, with weekly visits. Their chai is particularly impressive. While you enjoy the Chowrastha chicken, we have noticed it can be a bit oily at times. Their breakfast options are well-prepared and tasty. The store provides a wide variety of food options, including groceries, vegetables, and meat, all of which appear fresh and of good quality. It's a convenient spot for Northlake residents to enjoy delicious Indian food and stock up on essentials.

For lunch, we ordered Palak Paneer and Butter chicken. Unfortunately, the Palak paneer was not tasty, and the Butter chicken had very few chicken pieces. Very disappointing !
