David Beard Catfish & Seafood

We went here today got lunch after church. It's about a 30 minute drive bug we had heard good things from z as family member do we decided to go try it out. When we arrived we were immediately seated at a table, she took our drink order and brought it to. My wife ordered the senior Cajun catfish plate and ordered the regular catfish plate. The plate comes with fries and hush puppies and three strips of catfish. With that you can also go to the salad bar. The lettuce was fresh and crisp and the other toppings were O K and there were lots of choices but the pinto beans were amazing. The food was brought out while I was working on my first bowl of beans. The portions were generous and fresh cooked. The fries were thin cut so I knew they would get cold quickly but they were hot when they served them to me. The catfish was definitely fresh cooked and very hot. As I said, I had a bowl of beans and we also had a salad bowl from the bar. Our wait person was Alyn. She was great. Fast service, very friendly. Took time to explain to first time customers what was offered like free drinks on the senior plates. We will going back to this restaurant regularly. I understand about fresh cooked food as I was a manager for Wendy's for 32 years. Their prices are very modest especially the Sr. Plates that are $9.99 for lunch.

Service, good salad bar, food was very good. Ample seating. Very good decor for a sea food place.

Really good food , nice people. MUST try the salad bar .Clean bathroom and cheap prices for a good portion.

Food...salad bar was decent. Chicken gumbo I was disappointed in. I expected chunks of chicken, it was like very few small pieces like from canned soup. Hush puppies were good. Service...waitress was great. She was nice and did her job.Ambiance...place was clean and great decor for seafood restaurant.

My wife & I are new to Azle & saw this place & gave it a try on Saturday. I never pay attention to reviews until I make my own judgement.... This place has excellent catfish! It was fresh & hot, the salad bar was good, especially the pinto beans!We lived in Arlington for over 30yrs & this place is on par with Catfish Sam's, an Arlington institution!The only thing that was different was how quite the place was... It wasn't very busy I guess due to it not being a Saturday dinner kind of place.We will be back!

We walked in and waited a good solid 2 minutes while the man behind the register finished his paperwork before he would seat us. We were sat in a booth by the front window and we waited a good 5 minutes before a server came over and apologized for not seeing us.I ordered the shrimp plate with hush puppies and salad bar. Hubs ordered the fish and hush puppies which came with salad bar.The salad bar had items on it that looked like they were past their shelf life. Patrons beside me were commenting the same thing. The best food we had all night was the pinto beans that you get on the salad bar.My shrimp were very tough and as I was eating I noticed that the poop bag (think Chef Anne from the Food Network) was inside each on of the shrimp. Some it was in the coating and some it was still attached to the fish. Gross.Service was better once she started waiting on us but this place is a big miss for us and I can't see us returning any time in the future.

Food was delicious!! Great service!!!! Big shout out to the gentleman that served us. Loved the salad bar too!! They needed some background music, but other than that, it definitely won't be our last visit!!The restaurant itself had a very 90's feel, which was personally homey to me.

My wife and I was here during an off busy time. Surprised by the timely attention, excellence in quality and cleanliness after what must have been a busy time. Salad bar had been freshly restocked even though it was late evening. Definitely recommend their Cajun Catfish.

We have gone to many, many Dave Beards Resturants and the favorite being in Wascom, Texas. All have been good even the tumbled down shack in Waco.The one on Jacksboro Highway is fine and how people.downgrade it i will never know. Would like to say more but it would not be allowed.

Not good. Fish had no taste. Chicken fried steak grease and bad taste. Hush puppies tasted freezer burnt.
