Just saw Shucked at Fair Park - so easy to get into venue. Alot of parking staff to assist you - parked and already behind the car waiting for us was the nice staff lady with the shuttle - WOW; what a start - excited to go but not a C&W fan at all - this play quite surprised both of us that attended with the fantastic songs - singing voices and on going jokes. Kept us both laughing the entire time. Upon leaving, expected extreme wait time but a surprise again on how easy to walk to the car (yes, shuttle available ) and get right out - no wait time as everyone was courteous and moved smoothly out of the parking area. Drinks - food served prior to show starting; also a lunch area provides a buffet we'll be checking out soon. Looking forward to a great season.

Overall...we have been season ticket holders for a decade...we love musicals...I should say that if you love musicals, this is the ticket to have...We just came back from Oklahoma. This is a reimagined Oklahoma from Mr Fish. It's a disaster. To say it's Oklahoma by Rogers and Hammerstein is an absolute lie. Major changes, terrible staging, awful castings make this a must miss musical. It further calls into question the decision to include it in the season tickets.Come Monday I will request a refund for this musical. The rest of the season has been fine...but this version of Oklahoma should not be included in ANY season anywhere. There are NO scene changes. The casting has an oddity of characters...some literally larger than life...The one "dance" scene after intermission is unforgettable for how terrible it is. I'm sure I will have nightmares about this dance for years to come as one of the worst scenes/dances in over 10 years as a season ticket holder. Then in a backdrop of increasing gun violence, the ending of the classical Oklahoma is changed to be a near suicide by pistol of the villain. Senseless violence that is absolutely not needed in the story, and calls into question of the death is justifiable.Absolutely a disastrous musical...

My wife and I have probably seen about 20 shows here by now. I love how easy it is to park here and to get the chance to be in Fair Park for something besides just the fair! There are lots of neat little restaurants nearby that feel much more local and real than something more fu-fu downtown. We've seen some big ticket musicals here, from Hamilton to Hello Dolly, to The Color Purple, and more, and I honestly have to say this theatre is as fun to see a show in as something more traditional like the Pantages back in LA or the Orpheum or Opera House in SF.I am just so truly grateful to have a venue in town (in addition to the Winspear Opera House / AT&T Performing Arts Center, of course) to see great shows in in a location that's meaningful to Dallas historically. It doesn't hurt either that their Broadway seasons have been much stronger than AT&T's the last several years!Keep it going, y'all! and I can't wait to see how it all looks once it gets more renovated!

Oklahoma! was a mess. The cast simply did not gel; they could each sing, but together...a cacophony. The set, mood, and film portions were unnecessarily dark and depressing. Seriously; who thought total darkness, gunshots in a crowded theater, and a bloodbath at a wedding were good ideas given the current climate and events in our hurting country? We left at intermission. What a waste of time and money! I am seriously rethinking my season tickets for 2022/2023.

I was so glad to see everyone back out at the theatre to see Wicked. The Music Hall is wonderful, everyone on staff was very courteous and professional. The parking is a little congested so plan on arriving at least an hour earlier than curtain to get parked and inside unless you are ok with $25 for valet. I took Uber from Highland Village and it was only like $20 to get front door drop off, totally worth it. You still got to wear a mask walking around and while seated but if your are in the crystal Palace buffet stead you don't need it

Open review (letter) to Alfreda E. Rollins, Patron Experience Manager at the Dallas Summer Musicals Music Hall at Fair Park ([email protected]). I have been a season ticket holder either in my name or my show partner's name for over 16 years. Each renewal we would call the box office to see if we could jockey into a better position. For the last almost 10 years, we have had 1st row. We bought these for a reason. I wanted no heads, no distractions, no obstruction to the action on stage. This season, we show up and find that the orchestra section has been gutted and now hosts up from 30-40 seats in front of me. I went from 1st row to 6th row overnight without the courtesy of first offer to buy those seats, without the courtesy of a notes, without the benefit of even trying to be able to move to another section. By this action, DSM has told all original 1st to 5th row (some of major donors to the guild), that we don't matter. A new set of high paying patrons can now be accommodated.I urge you to rethink this horrible way you have treated 100s of original and long time individual and corporate members.

Felt like a police state. We were not notified of large bag rule they said went into effect on July 1 "because of Covid." You are not allowed to bring the $4 water bottle you buy into the theater "because of Covid." Chug it in the hall. You are not allowed to take your mask down for two seconds to even itch your nose without an authoritative usher harshly demanding you to pull your mask back up.Overall this was the worst experience I have ever had at DSM. I have been coming here my entire life. The head male usher told the man two rows in front of us to put his mask on twice during the first act, and the female usher must have thought my husband and I were the culprits because she came up to us IN THE MIDDLE of the first act to tell us, "her usher told her we weren't being compliant with masks." I told her it was the man two rows in front of us and to please leave us alone. Then, during the second act she tells my husband and I we have to leave. We asked her why, but she just said we needed to leave and weren't allowed in the theater any longer. We were so confused... There were FIVE POLICE OFFICERS standing outside the doors. She accused us of taking photos and "flipping her off" WHAT??!??? So, now I have been harassed and humiliated by a girl who falsely targeted my husband and I? It was the man two rows in front of us!!!! Are you kidding... $600 for two tickets to see Wicked and this is how you treat your patrons? You're out of your mind. The police officers felt horrible for us, and we're trying to tell us how they don't enforce masks only walking us out at the request of management. But we had our masks on THE ENTIRE TIME. When we asked to speak to management NO ONE CAME! They would only give the police officer a card to give to us. We couldn't even tell ONE SINGLE staff member that they had the wrong couple! We were shook. Is this real life? Unacceptable to be Unacknowledged by the building staff, and escorted out of a venue by the police. TA teenage girl usher harassed us and falsely accused us of actions we did not take, which resulted in five police officers walking us out of the building. Also, the bathroom lines are out of control. I wish I could give you negative 5 stars, DSM. Your ushers mistook us for another couple and no one would even speak to us about it.

I had the chance to go to 2 musicals at Music Hall at Fair Park. First was Wicked and then Phantom of the Opera. I thoroughly enjoyed both my times there, getting chills listening to all the classic songs and experience the great acting. Regarding parking, I was expecting having a difficult time finding a good spot, but it was seamless from my experience. We parked across the street within the park and there was a yellow shuttle driving around that could fit about 20 people. It came fairly regularly, about every 3 minutes....aaaaand it was free! Oh how I love free parking, especially in the heart of Dallas. One thing I would suggest to people is that you need to go to the bathroom before the chaos I call intermission. There are only a few bathrooms available and I, quite honestly, was in line for 12 minutes. 3 minutes before doors would close for the 2nd act!!! (I made it btw) So, either go before the play, don't drink anything, or wait til after the play. Intermission was stressful!Other than that, I recommend DSM. I enjoyed my time and would like to go back to see other musicals!

A theatre built in 1925 just isn't up to what 21st century audiences want in a facility. Bad sight lines to stage, poor sound from actors, no potty parity for women's restroom during intermission. The show was great just the building needs to be replaced. A theatre built in 1925 just isn't up to what 21st century audiences want in a facility. Bad sight lines to stage, poor sound from actors, no potty parity for women's restroom during intermission, seats are too close front to back. The show was great just the building needs to be replaced. I posted photos of their gun restrictions and screening for audience members before the show. As of Jan 2022 one has to wear a mask inside although after the lights go down sort of hard to check what you have done. Also women can't bring in large purse. They had clear ones being given out but not for long. Best to leave purse in car.

I went to see The Book of Mormon this weekend. The Audio Techs were clueless. Many people had trouble hearing the actors, especially if there was any laughter from those who were close enough to the stage to hear. I brought it to the attention of DSM, and they basically said that the touring group used their own sound system; have moved on, and is not their problem. Tickets are a small fortune, and they want to adopt this attitude? They have done this before. I can certainly see where a touring group would use their own Audio Deck, but the speakers belong to the venue. Regardless of how expensive or state of the art a system is, if the person running it is clueless, then it is a major problem. I am going to keep hammering management until I get my money back! Their attitude is unacceptable! This is the first time that I have seen this production, and they ruined it for me!
