Yes she flies and you can go up in her too!! Note all the other items in the background.
They do have air shows, but this picture was taken on a regular Saturday.

This combination of part tour, part museum, part restoration, and most excitingly part rides is a hidden gem in Lancaster Texas!! You will walk into this large hanger and find a ball-torrent, an MP bicycle, planes in all states of restoration, and then the planes you can actually fly in!!! Come see the quaint museum, which I can practically guarantee you will receive a personally guided tour. I find this type of hands on experience much like a teleport through history. The day I was at the museum two vintage aircraft took flight and to my delight buzzed through the air much to the excitement of the patrons in the planes, and those of us watching on the ground. http://commemorativeairforce.org/?page=cms/googleMap&cms_page=1333Join me in my journey through the various commemorative air force museum locations listed above. If you are looking for white gloves, and snooty high art... You will be disappointed!!! If you love history, love to engage all your senses including touch... You have found yet another home to encourage your inner child, and challenge your intellect.

The beauty of small museums like this is that you can take school-age kids and not overwhelm them. It is not a "hands on" museum like some. But, they will get up close and personal with WW II aircraft and some items within the museum collection won't be found easily at other museums. Make sure to plan time to have breakfast or lunch at the Taxiway Cafe located at the airport.
