Being British I know what good Chinese food is all about, but having lived in the States for almost 30 years the Chinese food in this country is just OK.However ..... Chongqing House surprised me! not only is the food very good, but they have some great spicy dishes on the menu to which I'm a huge fan of.I have ordered take out twice and dined in once, on all 3 occasions the food has been extremely good. The staff are very friendly and helpful when it comes to recommendations and the restaurant itself is very clean, it is situated in an Asian plaza (Ranch 99 etc..) which is conveniently close by.I cannot recommend enough, if you like Spice or you want to try something other than General Tso's chicken you have to check this place out.

Return or not return?Return. Part of the greater DFW not very good Chinese food scene, but based on my sample of 3 to-go dishes, it's better than most of the others. You know there's a level of authenticity when the woman answers the phone in Mandarin, can't understand much in English, and then gives the phone to who I'm presuming to be her husband, and his English is slightly better. Aside: English or little English, the woman incredibly polite and friendly.Upon entering the restaurant, all 5 tables occupied are mainland Chinese patrons speaking Mandarin.Green beans - decent.Orange Chicken - dark meat option only, and sadly Panda Express is better but this is definitely edible. Lacked a little sweetness, and crispness.Mapo Tofu - best of the 3, and I would re-order this one. Not over sauced and nice ginger/green onion notes. Tasted fresh.Price/value relationship. 100% worth it. Give them your business.

V. Good vegetarian selection, no garlic no onion...what I tried:Hot and sour soup - the best I've tasted, with egg. It can be made without egg for vegans. Vegetable brothDry Fried String Beans - never met dry fried string bean dish I didn't likeChinese Yam w/ black fungus - the yam I hear is a special dish, good crunch Spicy & Sour shredded potatoes - the Chinese way of making this dish not too starchy is to soak the potatoes which removes a lot of it. I hear that this way is good for the liverMa Po Tofu - not badSome cabbage dish - always a favorite Dessert - the rice cake with syrup something - made from sticky rice. Not my favorite but if it's yours, I think it's good

Chinese food that is served and prepared well. Friendly staff and tasty food. Very generous serving and their food is best with jasmine tea to balance all the spices and oil.Place is very clean all the time. Great for bringing friends and family.

The service and food were really good. The restaurant is very clean and they specialize in Szechuan cuisine. The eggplant with garlic sauce, Chongqing style diced chicken with Chili sauce was very crispy tastes like spicy popcorn chicken, honey walnut shrimp were all delicious. Great place for Chinese food.

Green onion pancake and cold spicy noodles were so yummy! cold noodles was really good spiced but not so spicy . Green onion pancake was thin and crispy. String bean is average, cabbage could be skipped. Beef with pickle peppers were good flavor but might try something else next time. Hubby and daughter love the hot and sour soup, different than a lot of places but beefy and good flavor. Staff was nice there.

The most authentic chinese spot in Plano. The food here is really cheap and consistently really good. The place has always been very clean every time we come, and the owners are also very nice! Definitely recommend if you're looking for high quality/authentic sichuanese food.

I've been in the DFW area for 4 years and had honestly been on a hunt for great Chinese food. After visiting Chongqing House..my search is over! With a wonderful assortment of traditional and non-traditional foods, this place is amazing. Service was fast and friendly. The restaurant was impeccably clean. Food was plentiful, fresh and full of flavor. This is my new go to spot that I'll gladly drive to Plano for!

Food is still delicious, but portions seemed to be a little small, especially for the spicy boiled fish fillet. I think their Kung Pao Chicken is one of the best, and the sautéed beef and onion was good too, sweet with flavor. But again a lot of onions and less beef. The wonton soup in chicken broth was alright, I wish there was a bit of ginger in the wonton or more salt in the soup as this lacked some flavor for me.Service is good, they try to be fast but they had a lot of take out orders making our food come out a bit later. The inside is very nice and clean however!
