What a gem! Chanmaru is our go-to place for tofu sundubu. If you're unfamiliar with the area, you can easily miss it! Chanmaru is in a shopping area behind Starbucks. You can also find other Korean restaurants, a hair salon, bakeries, and ice cream spots. There's ample parking, if you can't find one in front of the restaurant, there's more available a little ways down. When we walked inside, we were immediately greeted and seated. The restaurant is bright, clean, and comfortable. Since we knew what we wanted, we didn't waste any time. You have an option for mild, regular, or extra spicy. If you haven't noticed from my previous posts, I like mild. The vegetable sides are a must try! They gave about 12 sides - all were well seasoned. The sundubu was tastey and enjoyable. I highly recommend it especially on a cold day or clear your sinuses. We have sundubu where I grew up, but this is very authentic. The other food on the menu looks very tasty as well - kalbi, kimchi pancake. YUM! Like many Korean restaurants, they serve soju.We will be returning soon!

Came back just bc they gave out 15 banchan, this time knowing full well we can't take home the banchan leftovers. But still unhappy with the ahjumma (older lady) service. 4 of us , we ordered galbi $29 I think , soontofu $16 and tteokbokki $13, she saying we didn't order enough food. My kids are female , they don't eat much, they are 90 and 105 lbs. ahjumma said tteobokki didn't count bc it's appetizer. Ended up ordering extra bibimbap $16 just to please her. Ended up taking home the bubimbap and tteokbokki bc it's so much food. Didn't get banchan refill bc it's too much food. My kids barely touched the bibimbap and tteokbokki. I knew it was gonna be too much food right off the bat, that's why I just ordered galbi, tofu and tteokbokki. If the service was good, and no forcing us to buy more, we would have come back. Not after this. They need to think long term vs short term. Short term at the moment yes we plunked down more money to make the server shut up , but long terms they are driving customers away. She needs to see the situation , if we were 3 teenage boys, she could have said food isn't enough. But my kids are scrawny girls weighing 90 and 105lbs, I'm a female and my hubby. Only 1 male. How could we eat that much? It's a shame coz the food was actually good

When I come home for a visit I love to stop by. This is my 2nd visit. The staff are so sweet and friendly. It's great that they put the soondubu soup with a grilled meat. It makes it easier for you to order. I got galbi and seafood soup. The best part about coming here is they serve so many banchan varieties. I was served 14 wonderful banchan right after I ordered. I liked them all but their kimchi is so good! They bring an egg out so that you can crack it on top of your boiling soup that comes out. Everything was delicious. It is a must try place for authentic Korean.

No notes. I mean c'mon, look at ALL of this banchan! Plus, they let you add ramen to your tofu soup for just $1.99 more (which surprisingly not all places are willing to do). I also feel like the spicy tofu soup is the perfect amount of spicy. You can taste it but it's not going to kill you.

Chanmaru has become my favorite restaurant in the area! TONS of delicious, fresh, unlimited side dishes, the main dishes are so flavorful and the portions are huge. We discovered Chanmaru on accident and it was the best accident ever!

After driving by this spot countless times, I finally decided to give it a try. I ordered the galbi combo with spicy cold noodles and mackerel. Everything was delicious, but the Bonchon selection really stood out--each dish was a hit. The kimchi was perfectly balanced, juicy, and full of flavor, while the cold spicy buckwheat noodles were an absolute favorite. The best part? We were served by the most charming grandma, who made the experience even more special. The atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal.

Chanmaru is a popular Korean restaurant in the Carrollton area, offering a variety of soft tofu soups and other entrees. I was recommended to try this place out, and I was not disappointed! If you love banchan as much as I do, you will love Chanmaru because they offer the most side dishes I've ever seen at a Korean restaurant. Super tasty and they offer sides I've never tried before. I would come back just for that.Their menu offers entree combos which is great if you want to try a soup + meat dish. I recommend trying their spicy pork/squid, and I love their seafood pancakes to share. When I visited, service was attentive and staff were friendly!

Visited for lunch as a party of two, sat right away. Food came out very quickly and the amount of sides they bring out is crazy! I believe unlimited bc she refilled some of our plates a couple of times without us asking. Friendly. Prompt. Clean. Wonderful shopping center, ample parking. We will be by again

This is my favorite Korean restaurant. Service is great and traditional feeling. All the soups are amazing. We ordered the ramen soon tofu, LA kalbi and beef rib soup. It comes with rice and lots and lots of banchan (small side dishes). These are seasonal and are always great. Atmosphere is very positive and inviting.I fully recommend this restaurant. It has the best soon tofu soups in the metroplex.
