I encourage you to support your local theatre. It's nice to see your community participate in shows. The talent is great and the shows are well organized. I recently saw Disney's Beauty and the Beast and the makeup for the beast was an outstanding job! All the characters were so great and really put their heart into the show. There isn't much of a snack section and during intermission there is a long line to wait for the women's restroom so beware. Otherwise, this a great experience to encounter. Parking might be a challenge if the downtown square is busy. But it's in a great location to dine at with lots of places to eat. Great date spot!

Went to see Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. First of all, the actors were really wonderful. The show only has four characters but they all gave strong performances and brought these intense characters to life. I was extremely impressed with the quality of talent! The set was simple and yet beautiful. It was basically a living room, but had great detail and design. The seats were comfy and had a great view. The sound was good. Everything really was just perfect. Can't wait to see another show sometime soon.

Small old-town "feel" for the theater. I was at a screening during the Denton Black Film Festival. The event was well attended from by a well diverse crowd that are fans of film. It is my understanding that the theater is used often for other events and other features. If I'm in the Denton area again, I will check their schedule for any events or films.

It's the kiddos birthday weekend and I don't have alot of time to spend with her.... that's what stinks about working weekends and having a night job. But in my wanderings of Denton square (and prepping for the UYE event I'm planning) I've passed the Campus Theatre many times and on one such day I saw the poster for The Little Mermaid and knew that would be a great idea for my daughter. What was cool about this play is that the whole cast and crew were made up of kids from junior high school up to juniors in high school. They did all the lighting, sets, audio, you name it. And they were good! All of the songs from the Disney movie were in there and my daughter was mesmorized. Once in awhile something clams her up.Although she was singing "Under The Sea" all the way home, it was worth it. Tickets were only $10. They have inexpensive concessions as well.Support Denton businesses.

I've been to this theater many times to see many different shows over the years- Rocky Horror Picture Show, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, the Adventures of Huck Finn, Sister Act, and more! The actors and actresses are always impressive and entertaining. It's small and cozy, and all of the seats seem to be good seats, and they're comfortable. The shows have always been great, and it's the perfect location downtown Denton. It's easy to walk to grab a drink or a meal before or after any show. They sell snacks, drinks, and wine before shows and during intermission, and you can take anything you buy into the theater. The tickets are also reasonably priced. I love having this nearby for some theater once in a while!

This review is specific to my most recent visit for The Addams Family musical, but I can't imagine things would be much different between showings. This was an absolutely, completely, and totally fantastic experience. This show specifically was killer (ha!). We caught the first one and they didn't miss a dang beat. The actors and actresses did a wonderful job and the play was very well-written. I'm typically very musical-adverse, but figured my overwhelming love for The Addams Family would more than compensate. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that I not only enjoyed the dark satire of that beloved family, but even the musical and dancing sections of the play. Well done!!I'd been to Campus Theatre many years ago for a smaller-scale play, but honestly didn't know what to expect now. I was happy to find the theatre itself still in good condition. It's been well cared for and is very welcoming. The auditorium, bathrooms, and lobby were all clean and well-decorated. They had creepy creations all over the hallways, which was just charming as can be and really helped make the experience. The sound and lighting seemed balanced and appropriate for the show. I wouldn't have changed a thing!Another delightful detail: you can get wine or beer for the show, which is served in a disposable coffee cup with a lid. Not sure why that was so enjoyable to drink out of, but it was definitely a nice touch. Can't wait to go back soon for another amazing show!

One of the thing that I find most cool about Denton is the undercurrent of art that not only runs stem to stern throughout the city, but has historically done so as well. Case in point: witness the Campus Theatre - built as a grand movie house in 1949 with the intent of serving Denton's burgeoning college communities, this theater remained in that original role, until the mid 80s when it seems it fell into disrepair and was left vacant for a number of years. Enter Denton community theater, who began using the space in 1990, and as luck would have it, a year later Denton arts organizations banded together, raised a ton of money, and began the renovation of the Campus Theatre into what it more closely resembles today. According to the historical data for the theatre, "A semi-thrust stage, three hundred seat proscenium house, offices for arts groups, scene & paint shop, dressing & make-up rooms, and ticket sales facilities are part of this edifice." That's certainly true: but what I can also tell you having spent some recent time there during the Thin Line Documentary Film fest is much simpler - this plays like a classic movie theater that also caters to live performances, and, well, it probably should do that. 'Cause that's exactly what it is. It's quaint, charming, and the seating was comfortable enough during my stint there. I'll gladly go back. Sounds like folks have been doing just that for years.
