Tommy D. "I have been wanting to try this place for quite a while now and I'm glad I finally made it!! it is an Indian/Mexican food That is similar to how chipotle serves. Cilantro rice in a bowl I got half chicken and half steak, (they also do a salad bowl option ). Then you have an option of three different styles of Curry, I chose the smoky which is a little spicier, and the flavor rivals many of the other Indian food locations at about half the price. beyond the Curry there are four or five other sauce toppings you can get, I opted for the spicy cilantro and sour cream.Staff is super helpful and friendly! If you're looking for something different, that is delicious and has a reasonable price I highly recommend this place!!"

It is a lunch buffet so you just go straight to the food and start! Love all the options they offer here. I am pretty much going for their Butter Chicken, grilled chicken legs and Mutton Curry. Loving the flavor and freshness. They also have salad and other veggie options too. A good place for lunch for sure."

Josh C. "I can understand why Al Markaz is such a cornerstone of the Pakistani community in DFW. Located just across the street from the Hmart complex, AL Markaz offers arguably better quality and cheaper groceries than any other place in the area. The food in the food court is solid and felt like I was eating in someone's home. Here's a breakdown of what I got:- Mixed chaat: A mixed assortment of potatoes, tomatoes, yogurt, fried pita. There are probably other things in there that I don't know, but overall the taste is refreshing and has a bit of spice, sweetness, and savoriness. - Bihari kebab: Ground meat that's presented like an upside-down bowl. Very good seasoning. The consistency was a bit mushy for me but otherwise, taste was amazing.- Chicken tikka breast: A bit on the drier side and not as seasoned as the other items on the table.- Naan: This is 100% the best naan in town. I would come back just for this.Service was great! Workers came around often to see if we needed anything (e.g., utensils, napkins, plates)."

Favorites include a standard order of dhokra for snacking & mixed grill for a protein fix with a few different well seasoned and tender meats. Also a fan of the nihari which is flavorful, not crazy spicy and not under an inch of oil. This time around also tried out the haleem which was great and would definitely reorder."

Some appetizers are available immediately, but the rest is cooked in the kitchen. There is a large seating area with both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is quite large with, all of the Indian favorites you can imagine. Plenty of vegetarian options too. We ordered butter chicken and chicken vindaloo and both were served very hot. Crissy H. "If it wasn't for the Elite event, I never would have known about this delicious restaurant. Thank you for hosting us, I enjoyed my time and experience. When we walked in, it was a bit different from what I had expected; but I liked the calm their lighting provided. The little wall of water was very nice, it added a nice touch. We had a minute or two wait before being seated and we were served our beverages, within five minutes of being seated. There seemed to be one person tending to a few tables, but he was later joined and I was happy to see that. As more people came in, it was good to see he had additional help. The cute little robot assisted too; of course, I had to plug the robot in there somewhere. For the appetizer, I read some of the reviews from my fellow Elites and went with the veg assorted. It was so delicious and full of flavor! I honestly could have eaten it with a side of meat samosas and would have been more than happy. The veggie and meat samosas were the best thing I ate that afternoon, it was so good good good! I will go back just for those and to try a seafood entree, I like other meats, but fish would be my overall preference. The lunch tray (meat) was plentiful and filling; I ended up bringing most of it home. Between the appetizer and meal, you're stuffed by the time everything else is served. To top it off, I had the Sunrise Martini. Do not be fooled, the alcohol sneaks up on you. It was good! We were served a complimentary Chai, man oh man, it was good. It wasn't a normal Chai, it was better. When I'm in the area, if they're open, I will stop by and get more samosas, they're the best! The manager was the sweetest. When we received the receipt, I noticed we were charged for a complimentary (Elite) item and brought it to her attention. The manager was on it and corrected the issue, quickly."

Aruna K. "Always my preferred stop for Indian street food like the chats, sugarcane juice, the vadas, various fritters, pastries and so on, the food we had was great in taste but not heated at all, I mean acold day and chilli bajjis- its meant to be steaming hot even if its only microwaved .The pani puri though was great with the hot ragda, and the sev also had ragda which was hot. Still, the street food here is better than closer home so .... even when everything is served in take away plates and boxes. Of course they have huge array of Indian food in terms of dald, pacchadis, kooras and so on, and it is a part grocery store too, so basically like one stop shop. Ambiance is - you can probably guess from the above, a little noisy and crowded, and the limited seating area is acceptable only if you get lucky to get the front two rows.In summary- an traditional Indian in Dallas ; You simply cannot survive without depending on Swadeshi for one thing or another."

My favorite part of the ambiance was the battery-powered candle at the center of the table. It added to the vibes of the somewhat dimly-lit interior. We ordered a variety of appetizers that were all so delicious and flavorful: seekh kabob, aloo tikki chaat, paneer pakoras, and samosa. Besides the samosa, I had never tried any of the other items before, but I loved every single bite of them.I got the chicken tikka masala for my main entree, and it was one of the best tikka masala I have ever eaten. Bruno F. "I've been to this establishment twice and the first time I was a little skeptical. I was trying to give it another go, looking for a different result but it confirmed my first experience. This place doubles as a small grocery store while serving meals. There is too much microwaving going on in the kitchen. So I would question if there was any cooking or just reheating. Staff was friendly. I got the spinach chicken, butter naan with a side of rice. The spinach chicken had soup like consistency. The rice was ok but the naan was a hot mess. You know when you stick bread in a microwave and it gets hard like a rock. Definitely not made in house and was heated up. It was so dense and not really that great. There is no spice level. If they ask you mild or spicy, there is only one level, spicy. Flavor wasn't horrible but you can do better than this. This lunch with a can of soda $20. This was it for me. It's not worth the price, find yourself another Indian spot, unless you're ok with mediocre food."

It was incredibly hot and we had to use the menus to fan ourselves- quite uncomfortable. There were five of us and we all opted for different choices from the menu. I chose the veg hot and sour soup with the shrimp chili garlic Hakka noodles. Those of us who picked the soup were served first, along with those who ordered French fries. The soup was incredibly salty but also had a nice spicy kick. One coworker hated it and the other, who ordered the veg Manchurian had one sip and didn't return. It was odd how food was delivered. It was one at a time, with approximately at least 10 minutes between delivery. It felt uncomfortable to eat when others were still waiting for their orders, but we were on a tight schedule.I ordered the Hakka noodles with shrimp, which was surprisingly tasty. It was a large bowl and I had to take the rest home.Another odd thing was that warm bottled water was served instead of iced water (I didn't spot an ice machine nor fountain drink in the restaurant.)The waitress never checked on us, so she had no idea how we liked our food. Will I return? Most likely not. Between the super warm temperature of the restaurant and lack of customer service, I will opt for another fusion eatery.Bummer!"

Robert M. "Was considering going to the new "Indian fine dining" restaurant at Water Street, but the more I read their reviews weighed against their prices, I decided I needed to investigate other options since my main desire was "great Indian food" that didn't need to come with white table cloths and and a view of the lake. D Magazine recently referred to "Spices of India Kitchen" as the "hidden gem" in their February 15, 2024 "Best Indian Restaurants in Dallas-Fort Worth" article. Being less than 10 miles from me and after reading their mostly glowing reviews, I was convinced I needed to give them a try. Ordered the butter chicken and lamb roast, both with biryani rice as well as the garlic naan. Even though the dining room seems more than adequate, I got the order "to go". Everything was delicious! Definitely some of the best tasting Indian food I've experienced over the years.
