"I placed a take out order here on November 4, 2024 after competing in a Jiu Jitsu Tournament in Dallas. I was craving BBQ -- thanks to Yelp, I stumbled upon Smokey John's. It was about an hour to closing so the place was almost empty. But the staff here were still very attentive, professional and friendly. Popular menu items include: slow-cooked brisket, juicy ribs, house-made sausages, fried catfish, blackened tilapia, collard greens, candied sweet potatoes, and mac and cheese.I ordered " The Smoke Plate" brisket with collard greens and Mac n cheese. And they did NOT disappoint! When in Dallas, you have to stop by Smokey John's for some BBQ, you won't regret it!!"
"Oh my goodness y'all, this is REALLY good BBQ!!We often do Railhead or Ribbee's for ribs but this is actually better. Wuite a lot better. We had the chopped brisket sandwiches and the smoked Mac & cheese. The sandwiches were BIG (see pic) and the meat was actually chunks of brisket- not like so many others that are mush. Think Chick-fil-A nuggets compared to McNuggets. Great flavor & smoke. The Mac & cheese was pretty spicy & had something crunchy on top that added a bit of depth. We both really liked it - especially dipped in the BBQ sauce provided on each table. Only thing that could be improved on was the girl at the counter. Acted like she would've rather been anywhere else. Seems like a pretty good place to be as far as I can tell."

"We came here after watching the longhorn cattle drive at the Stockyards; with a fairly large group of 7, we were worried about being sat (indoors with the AC for sure lol). There wasn't any issue & they sat us immediately, which was a nice surprise. Our server was also excellent: attentive, funny, & just seemed like a really nice guy. We each ordered a drink, I got a piña colada. The cocktails mostly came in huge goblet glasses, which was awesome, especially for the price! They were really tasty & refreshing. Each of us also got a little dish of salsa & then baskets of chips for the table, which is how you can tell this was going to be a bomb meal. I got Huevos rancheros & this was seriously some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. The eggs were fresh, the refried beans were just incredible, & the potatoes were delicious. We all ate ourselves into a food coma because it was all so good that we couldn't help it lol. Toward the end of the meal, we also got 2 tortilla warmers full of fresh tortillas, which we ended up taking home because they were so so good. At one point there was also a mariachi band, so that was super fun! We were joking about moving into the restaurant & that feeling still stands! I'll 1000% be back to Fort Worth, if only for Esperanza's."
"I cannot complain one bit about this place. the food is Outstanding. The service is to match, its GREAT eating for 2 days! they give you too much food. And the ambiance.. top notch!!!"
"Loved the steak and mushroom sandwich. The toppings sent it over the top!Got potato salad as my side and it was not my favorite."
"This place is out of this world! I had never tried traditional African food before but I really wanted to so I asked my friend who was born in Ghana where I should go and let me tell you, he steered me right! I enjoyed every bit of it. The Fufu was delicious, I got the egusi stew with goat. Solid choice although I think I might go with a different meat next time (or no meat since I'm trying to go vegetarian ugh), the Soyu was very spicy and tasty and of course you can't go wrong with fried plantains! I am an adventurous eater but I was a little worried fufu might be too much for even me but nope! It was wonderful! My only recommendation is that you take some stomach meds before hand if you have a western palate because I was burnt up with the spices. 10/10 would do it again."
"I always crave the masala dosa from Deccan but this time wanted to try a new dish and got the tandoori chicken daal tadka and I've never had anything like it. It was full of flavor and spice. Service was exceptional. Our server, Shashi, brought out pickled mangoes for us to try and some yogurt for when the food got too spicy. Grateful to have this restaurant so close to home!"
"Carne Asada Fries! NombreNi decir nada Mas!!!! Had the cheese and you can tast the Seasoned meat, with fresh Pico! Going back afterWork!!!"
"Local is almost always good. This one was really good. I went more out of curiosity, wondering if it was just another coney place. I assure it wasn't. The place is neat, country eclectic with a lot of hot dog and city related items, that was the deco. Small sitting area, not meant for huge groups. The dogs weren't part of a q quick serve recipe. They obviously had to prep parts of the fare. I had the Aimee dog and the Texas dog. Both were amazing. Aimee dog was bratwurst, looked steamed or boiled. Was gray and moist, not dry and charred from a grill or a pan. Skin still snapped when bite. Sauerkraut, bacon, grilled onions, and spicy mustard on top. Great taste!! Texas dog was a spicy dog, shredded cheese, grilled onions and jalapeños, topped with bbq sauce. This was a really good combo. My first thought was the bbq sauce may throw it off, but it's a light amount and doesn't distract, adds to the overall flavoring. Really good. Haven't had anything else yet, they all look good. I like a place with variety and goes off the list of normal fare. Definitely recommended."
"Holy smokes - this is some of the best BBQ I've had around Flower Mound / Denton County! You will see the passion that goes into this restaurant once you step inside, and chances are, the owners will swing by to say hi. Their menu boasts a wide range of smoked meats including affordable and delicious steaks from Thursday to Saturday nights. I enjoyed the brisket on the burger and on top of the Mac n Cheese as well. The sides were just as impressive as our entrees. This spot is not to miss if you're in the area."
"Love their food. Always fresh, tasty, and good sized portions. Authentic Fort Worth BBQ. This restaurant has been a staple in the area for a very long time. Their longevity is a good example of the quality of their food."
"This is a wonderful comfort food/home cooking restaurant. All ingredients are fresh and cooked to order. Every bite is amazingly delicious. I Learned about the restaurant opening about a year ago but when I looked it up on Yelp, it appeared to be only catering. Not so! The restaurant is open Monday Through Friday from 8 to 6 and Saturday from 8 to 5 I believe. When we walked in we were greeted by Mama Gina and she really treated us like family. The shrimp and grits are the best I've ever had. I brought dessert home and haven't tried that yet but I'm excited to."

I was visiting in town and had a craving for hot links. So I looked up this place and had my brother take me there for the first time. Well let me say the atmosphere was chilled and not over crowded. But the staff was super amazing! They greeted us when we arrived and explained how to order food. We both ordered the fried fish basket, it came with five pieces and fries. I got small greens and Mac&Cheese. Greens were good and same with Mac&Cheese. Also, I got the hot link basket with fries, to go, ordered with no salt. We had to wait about 15-20 on the fish basket and it was worth it. They came hot and seasoned very well. My brother was full and enjoyed it. I had sweet tea and peach cobbler for dessert, which I brought back to the motel for later. And to top it off, the Sons owner stopped over to thank us for coming and had a wonderful demeanor. I would definitely come back again, because the staff was constantly asking if we needed anything.

My parents had been ranting and raving about this place, so when we came to Fort Worth to visit we had to try it. Here's everything we ordered: - loaded papa with sausage: huge portion! Both mother in law and daughter ordered one. They liked it but didn't act overly enthusiastic- brisket burrito: my husband said he wished it didn't have cheese on it because it took away from the flavor of the meat- brisket elote cup: I ordered this. It was flavorful and the brisket was super moist. My only complaint is that it was quite overly salty - half baked potato salad: good and tasted very fresh. Could've used a tad more flavor- jalapeño sausage: needed more of a kick- spicy smoked Mac and cheese: not cheesy enough and not spicy at all - pork belly jalapeño popper: very good I would definitely come back here and try the other meats and sides. The food was solid and very interesting and creative. I love the Mexican twist on Texas barbecue. I just felt like the flavors were all a bit underwhelming - I would've preferred a bit more heat to the spicy items and less salt overall on the brisket. Cute place with great service though and while they don't have a kids menu they do accommodate with quesadillas and grilled cheese for kids who don't yet have a refined enough palate for delicious bbq. Oh and the portions are very generous!

Took a look at the menu and could decide what to get. We landed on a few different menu items: barbacoa tacos, caldo de res, menudo, and caldo de pollo. They put a lot of meat in the tacos. You could easily make 2-3 tacos if you split the meat up. The caldo de res was way better tasting than the caldo de pollo. I would spend the few extra bucks for de res. The menudo was DELICIOUS! It's definitely a must. Food was priced reasonably for the portion sizes. My only complaint was the service. A little slow especially since there wasn't a crowd. This place is not for looks either. You come here expecting good, flavorful food and not really for the ambience. Also if you're looking for Tex- mex this probably isn't your place. Walk across the street to Joe T's for that.

Look of place: Imma be honest here and don't hate me. Walking in this place gives me an old school I'm suppose to walk through the back and order away from everyone. I'll just leave it at that. Food: I ordered a breakfast burrito with eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, cheese, veggies. Now I will say the amount of food they put on the burrito was a lot so I'm grateful for that. They put so much they couldn't even close it I had to ask for another tortilla. As far as taste is concerned it's subpar in my opinion. There was no reason seasoning to it other than the sauce I got. I made sure to taste the potatoes and things separately to make sure and though everything was cooked well it just tasted bland for me . Eggs tasted like eggs, bacon tasted like bacon, potatoes taste like potatoes etc. The pink lemonade I guess that's what it is..Tasted unsweetened which I'm guessing that's just the theme here so for someone who needs to watch their sugar intake this would be a good place for you.

Never had African food before so we came here, We got fufu and rice both with beef. The guy at the register was very helpful with the food. The food came pretty fast and I thought it was a lot of food for the price. I loved the rice and it reminded me of Mexican rice. Egusi was very good and the Fufu was interesting. I'd definitely go again and try other African food.

"The carne asada fries tasted amazing! And you can get any of their burritos in a bowl, which I was very thankful for! The drink options are limited. I enjoyed everything here. Also the bands that played tonight were most enjoyable. The people who worked here were nice and did a great job."
"Street bites is an eclectic catering company that features popular street food favorites from all around the globe. Perfect for someone like me who will eat anything from anywhere :-)They did a pop up at my place of work and their staff were very friendly and quick in getting out the food to the very long line.I ordered a bulgogi beef rice bowl, which is obviously the Korean representation on the menu board. They had very generous amounts of beef heaped over white rice and came with a crunchy side salad. The beef were cut more like chunks instead of the traditional thin slices, which I personally didn't care for, but that's a matter of choice. Unfortunately the beef was a little chewy as it had obviously been cooking a while, but it is understandable since they're not cooking to order on this occasion. The sauce was also a bit too sweet for my taste, teriyaki perhaps? Dunno. I'd have preferred some fiery gochujang, but that's just me.The side salad gave a bit of crunch, which was a big plus for me as it added that extra bit of texture. Overall it was a 3/5 for me.The chocolate chip bread pudding with vanilla sauce was absolutely wonderful. Very generous portion which can easily be shared between 4 people on diets or 2 who aren't."
"Daquari:A+++ I tried the peach and mango mixed together. The flavors blended perfectly together, the alcohol content was on point. The 16oz for $7 bucks definitely gave me a buzz. The 3pc HH wing combo: C-They serve wing sections, so in my opinion they may want to reconsider the amount they provide due to the size. The meal came with 3 flats and an order of fries. For $6 bucks I felt the portions sizes were small. Especially since you're only receiving 3 undersized wings, they could've gave more fries to accommodate. However I will say the flavor on the wings (lemon pepper) was OUTSTANDING!!! I would definitely recommend that flavor. Would I visit this establishment again. Yes, but only for the daquari, not the food."
"Spotted at Rahr & Sons Brewery! Tried the number four gyro wrap (all beef) with fries and the Turkish Texan salad with brisket. Tasty, fresh food. I liked that there was lots of greens in the wrap and the salad. Neither entree felt too heavy nor greasy. Also really nice customer service! Check in on Yelp and get a free side of fries."
"We ordered through UberEats which gave us delivery in 15 to 30 minutes. It was here if 15 minutes. The only difference vs. going to your local Tex-Mex place is no sizzling platter. Some complain about the pricing but I checked the nearest Tex-Mex restaurant and fajitas are getting close to $25, so at $20 they are not out of line. Everything you would expect is included. Some say this is Fast Food. It is not. The trend now is to open stores for delivery and take out only. They are more profitable with a smaller space and fewer staff. Even Starbucks is testing this as well as Chipotle."
"...you want some good vegan food, well this a great spot to get your wishes addressed.... Chef knows what's she doing.... check her out and you'll see what I mean....."
"I went her for a meet the mayor of south lake event. The food was spectacular. This little small shop/restaurant you can stop in for lunch or get a quick family dinner take out. This place is perfect for that. There was not one thing that I didn't like. The mushrooms suffer with a cheese mixture was mouthwatering. Then there was a brisket, cream cheese with jalapeños puff thing that made me eat several of them. Sheesh so Yummy!!! The dessert was equally as good with the brownie with some kind of dulce de leche mixture. I can't wait to order a meal here. The owner was teddy bear nice."
"We had the monthly special of BBQ sandwich with side of creamed corn & fried okra. Okra was crispy as I like and no soggy corn breading, creamed corn was extremely tasty & would order again. Sandwich was good with Bbq sauce on the side. I would order again. Just a shame BBQ has gotten so expensive you can't afford to eat it."
"I used Soulgood catering to compliment the non-plant based menu for an 50th party for my husband. Chef Cynthia created some amazing platters that were Soulgood! I would absolutely recommend using her and I understand her food truck menu is delicious too."
"I love their loaded potatoes!!! The best in OakCliff!! Quick take out process and awesome customer service. A bit small inside but great delicious food! Enjoy!!"
"Hidden gem indeed! Check out her website for pictures of her delicious items. My hubby researched local places for our son's wedding reception we will be hosting at our home. He spoke to Cindy on the phone and then we had lunch at her place to try out some of her food. I forgot to take pictures of the food! Sorry!Had the chicken fried chicken with scalloped potatoes (they have 3 different cheeses in it) and my hubby had pork chops. He isn't a fan of them but Cindy's pork chops made him a lover of pork chops you don't need a knife to cut. The chicken was so delicious that I forgot to share with my hubby. Oopsie!Everything at Cindy's is cooked from scratch. We aren't going to have dessert catered for the reception but we wanted to try the peach cobbler anyway. It was fresh out of the oven and served with vanilla Blue Bell Ice Cream. Amazingly delicious and not too sweet, but just right!Needless to say, I will update my review with photos of the food we will be having at the upcoming wedding reception is over because we will be serving Cindy Sue's Catering!By the way, they serve breakfast all day! A plus in my book!"
"I'll be honest with you I have not actually had occasionally go it was one of the spots that I definitely definitely definitely intended to a diet I rather get get something because it's out of a their mobile it's black owned by women that impressed me those two factors impress me very very much the food of the menu looks spectacular and of course I'm a yelper so I got to be a foodie but not just any foodie a foodie that appreciates good food. The last night of my trip to Plano at made plans with the owner but I called it's it's one of those where you look at the meeting and see where they are so you essentially have to drive to where they are and I had made arrangements to meet on my last evening there in Plano due to certain circumstances they were not able to make it and I did call and the only explain to me what happened which I really really appreciate it, however when I go back that's going to be one of the first spots I go to because I will be calling to see where they are before I get there"
"I wish I could give D Jackson 5 stars but the meal I received fell very short when it came to the sides. I ordered a two meat plate of brisket, ribs, potato salad and greens. Now I'm fully aware we can't always expect food to be cooked exactly the way we grew up on BUT they seriously need to change their potato salad recipe. Never have I had potato salad made out of frozen hashbrown diced potatoes, shredded carrots & whatever else was added. The potatoes were still hard which is a big no. Instead of cutting corners just get a big pot & boil down some nice russet potatoes. No shredded carrots & light on the relish. The greens also fell quite short. Although meat was added there was absolutely no meat flavor in the greens, which is ironic. Maybe the meat is added after the fact. I can't say exactly what else they needed but they were not it. I tried to doctor up the sides but instead just threw them away. However, on the other hand the meat was pretty decent - 7/10. I was looking for more moisture & a smokey flavor. The portion size was right on which I am glad of because that's the only part I was able to eat & enjoy once some BBQ sauce was poured on top. I really was hoping to rave about this place because of the hype of prior reviews but I honestly don't see myself returning. Hopefully my suggestions are taken into consideration."
"If you want home cooking, made from scratch deliciousness, you have to try this place. The hot chocolate actually has coffee in it and is absolutely decadent. The red beans and rice had just the right about of spice and the corn bread was moist and very slightly sweet. I dined in but they have a refrigerator case full of meals to take home and heat up. Come on out and support this small business!"
"Vibe- The last time I had their delicious plant based food they were serving out of a book store and so I just had to come to their brick and mortar on my next visit to Fort Worth! It's an entire vibe; there's a good playlist of music playing and there's some seating for you to wait on your order inside.Customer service- Great!!! Food/drinks- I got a Chopped BBQ with the Mac N' Cheez and the street tacos; everything was delicious!Parking- There's plenty of spots in the lot."
"I ordered several Art of Grazing boards from The Coupe during a gathering there and they were phenomenal. Truly! Charcuterie boards can be so boring and stale if not thoughtfully designed, and obviously the freshness of the ingredients is of utmost importance. Too often with charcuterie boards you get that refrigerated taste/smell from something that's been sitting uncovered in a fridge for too long. But these boards were super-well-wrapped until time to eat. There is clearly a lot of care put into each board, and so many beautiful, quality ingredients. These particular grazing boards had a variety of 4 cheeses (like a pistachio crusted goat cheese, sharp cheddars, brie, and habanero pepper), 2 meats (salami arranged like a rose and capicola on the side), a handful of nuts (pistachios or almonds), salty cornichons or olives, plump fruit (raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and grapes), wafer-y crackers, a piece of foil-wrapped chocolate, and a tiny glass jar of local honey or jam. And a sprinkling of vibrant, edible flower petals. It's really very pretty, bountiful, and colorful. See my photos! I'd say these specific boards are a great size for 2-4 people to share. The Art of Grazing's website has all the info on their different boards.. lots of sizes, crudités or cheeses or meats or combos, holiday themes and specials. Looks like they host classes and events, too. Flight nights, brunch boards with mimosas, that sort of thing. Love it. They're in a cute little spot in Southside Fort Worth. And a women-owned business!"
"Food was ok. My daughter's alfredo was the best out of the things we ordered...Can't say I'll be returning, but it definitely wasn't a bad experience. Just not much on the menu that i prefer. Small portions as well!"
"Wowwww riquísimo. Probamos salpicón, camarones al ajillo, paella, empanada gallega y un carpaccio fenomenal. 100% recomendado. Wow amazing. We tried salpicón, garlic shrimp, paella, empanada gallega and beef carpaccio. 100% recommend them."
"Delicious! A gem! Olivia's Scratch Kitchen was absolutely delicious. It was one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. The whole experience from ordering to eating to chatting afterward was just lovely. Olivia's is a very special place! I will absolutely return."
"I love charro beans. This place makes some of the best I've ever had. I'll def order from them here again. I heard from a friend of mine who had their posole recently and said it's the best they've ever had. I'll check it out sometime and see if it's as good as all the hype."
