"The best place to have some fun in Waxahachie! Very nice and clean and cool electronic boards."
"The arcade was really fun. Unfortunately we came on a Monday at lunch and none of the other attractions except bowling were open. 4 of us played for an hour on around 100 dollars. The young man assisting us seemed to be the only person working. He was very helpful and kind. There were very few things open to do with kids on a Monday so we waited several hours for this place to open and were disappointed that we could not do an escape room or anything else. It would be helpful if it indicated that only bowling and video games were available until 5."
"If you're looking for something fun and unique to do in the North Dallas/Denton area, I highly, highly, highly recommend you try this place out. My daughter and I have wanted to try Axe Throwing for a long time now. We were looking for something fun to do on a Saturday night, and she remembered she heard about this place, so she called them and reserved us a booth. We arrived 15 minutes early to sign wavers and watch a quick safety video. After that, Eric took us over to our booth and gave us a lesson on throwing, as well as showed us the different ways to throw the Axe. Once we were comfortable, Eric let us loose, but stayed nearby incase we needed him. It took us a couple of games to really get the hang of it, and once we figured it out, the fun just kept on coming. They have multiple games to choose from to keep things interesting: bullseye, tic tack toe, zombies, connect 4, and more. After your Axe Throwing session, you can keep the fun rolling in their Billiards room with a game of pool. They also have drinks, snacks, and some pretty cool swag for sale as well. The staff here is amazing. Everyone was extremely welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Eric initially taught us how to throw and kept us entertained and engaged throughout the entire experience, which was a added benefit.I HIGHLY recommend this location for tons of fun, to blow off some steam, for special occasions, or just because... you'll really have a blast! Just make sure to wear closed toe shoes, or you can't throw. Thanks guys, we will be back!"
"I came here for a company party. The games and drinks were fun. The food was mediocre. The staff was polite albeit understaffed.Overall I enjoyed it, but they need to have more people on hand, the bar line was too long."
"I think I found a sport I can compete in. A surprise night out and we all had a good time. I think we're going to build a target now. Or join the league. We'll see."
"Wonderful service- we had a tall, brown haired young man who had quite a large crown of us to service. He was so quick and accommodating. We all had a hankering for all the foods that Friday night- tacos, chicken strips, sandwiches- etc. large portions, hot, fresh, fantastic! We had an incredible staff outing, thank you, icompete! Sorry for the blurry pic- guess I was having too much fun- it was epically delicious!"
"This was so much fun! And you might even find out you're a born natural axe thrower! We were greeted by the staff when we arrived. We waited a few minutes for our reserved table to be ready. No biggie. Once our spot was ready we were given instructions on how to throw and the staff even gave us tips. Staff watched up throw a few axes and would help us by correcting our throw and it really helped! He even told us how to play games. There's a sign you can take a pic with when you hit a bullseye that reads "My First Bullseye". You can bring your own beer and wine and food - that's a plus! The business wasn't that big and parking might be tough if it's busy downtown, but it's definitely worth it. Going with a group is fun, but throwing axes in a lane all to yourself sounds nice too!"
"I had a great time at Smoking Axes a few weeks ago. I went with a large group through our HOA and we rented 2 lanes. Most of us were noobs at throwing knives and axes and the staff did an excellent job of walking us through what needed to occur so everyone had a safe and enjoyable time. I was super impressed with the beer selection as well as their food menu. I didn't personally eat anything but all of the sandwiches that came out looked amazing. I'm definitely going to come back and try the Cuban sandwich next time. If you're in the mood for some fun and beers, definitely check out Smoking axes!"
"Took my nephews there today. They really enjoyed it! The staff was polite and informative. They gave them good instructions on how to throw the axes. We will be back!"
"Axe throwing is a big trend right now and I have been very curious about trying it out. We had so much fun! You pay per person per hour. Non-axe throwers do not have to pay. They also have some games (arcade, Jenga, etc) for kids and adults other than axe throwing. They serve beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks. You can bring your own food if you'd like. If you go on a weekend make sure to get a reservation, bc it gets pretty packed! The staff was very helpful and attentive. If it's your first time, no need to worry they teach you how to throw and give you pointers throughout your session. I was initially told their axes don't bounce since they have plastic handles vs the rubber ones most ax places have. They still bounce and slide back toward you!! It's actually not quite as scary as it sounds and you get used to it after a bit! Just make sure to pay attention, lol. We had a really enjoyable experience and it was fun thing something different from the norm. I will definitely be back to sharpen my axe throwing skills!!"

Be SURE to read the fine print on their website for the their promotions. We came here for my nieces birthday on a Tuesday and expected to pay $2 for bowling and beers. Nope! $72 for 7 people to bowl and full priced drinks. The signs around the establishment say $2 with no disclaimer on the bottom. There are disclaimers on the website. Bowling was fun. I like the lanes and all of the cool lights. The bar staff and everyone else we encountered were very nice and attentive. The music was also pretty good. Throw backs that I hadn't heard in a while.

First time axe thrower. The staff gave us a rundown on how to throw and didn't leave until we were comfortable. There were multiple target games we could play, but had to track score with a mouse/cursor. The staff would check on us every few minutes to make sure we were doing alright and made casual conversation. You can bring food into the establishment but not drinks as they have a good amount of canned beers. They do have snacks and random items (koozie, axe koozie, shirts, etc.) for sale. There is also four pool tables in the opposite room of the axe throwing room. It's nice to have two games at one place to mix it up a bit. It's a small place and wasn't busy when we were there, but could be a nice hangout for a bunch of friends.

As a family we've been looking for a place to do an escape room. Came across this place on the web and on Sundays they have a discount (from $29 to $22) so we made a reservation for six online. After fees and such it came to about $154 or so. They do have cancellation insurance that you can use within the last 72 hours for $3 each but we felt like we didn't need it for same day reservation. The place has a bar food type menu wings, burgers, decent mix of combination appetizers, sliders, chicken fingers, salads....Beers on tap as well as axe throwing and so concerned about the mix of those two....LOL... Also classic video games arcade so was definitely worth the trip today. It's a nice place and feels like a place you can hang for a day. Plenty of televisions for watching sports. The escape room was fun. Ryan who was our host was very friendly and very helpful....Lord knows the things he must see and hear as families work through things and argue like we did... but you get 60 minutes to get out and we did it with a minute to spare. There are a few other options for escape rooms so it does lend itself to return visits. I think the challenge was pretty fair and did require team work. We each were able to contribute so definitely a family friendly environment. We did the escape from Alcatraz. Three hints are given and they also are kind enough to give little baby hints along the way which helped us on our very first escape effort. They do have costumes that you can use to get into the spirit. Overall a fun time in the escape room and we'd do the other themes but definitely on Sunday with the discounts. We didn't do the axe throwing. The video game setup is either $12 for an hour of gaming from the first swipe (so don't swipe and then do the escape room) or $15 for four hours. Seemed to be no question that the four hours was best value. However, in hindsight an hour is plenty of time for games. After about two hours we were definitely getting weary of it, and after three hours we were ready to go...Just for clarification we did the video games after the escape room. I thought the food was pretty good. We had among us the boneless chicken wings (with BBQ flavor), chicken fingers basket, Timber Hamburger, a salad, and the chicken tacos. Probably came out to about $65 before tax and tip. Good and fun vibe from the staff there and some great nostalgia as the video arcade had among other favorites: Joust, Donkey Kong, PAC-man, Ms Pac-Man, punch out, track and field, operation wolf, zaxxon, and a slew of pinball games. Overall around $90 on video games, $150 for the escape room, $65 for the food. For six people about $50 more or less per person for a solid 4-5 hours o fun. Have to say fair value and a good time so we will be back.

I was looking for something to do on a Sunday night and I found this place on the good olé yelp. I've never thrown Axes before so I thought it would of been a great adventure. So when I got here I was looking for parking and parking wasn't bad. There is a lot of street parking and a large parking lot in the back. The parking lot is well lit so I feel pretty safe leaving my truck there for the amount of time I will be there. As soon as I got there I received a great and happy welcome from the owner. I signed the standard waiver and they introduced me to the bar which I was fairly happy see. Then since it was our first time ever throwing axes we received great tutorial for throwing them. After the tutorial we were off and running. We had a blast learning and trying something new. After we were done the owner took his time to meet us. He was a good guy and I was happy my money was going to a good business owner. I would highly recommend this place to all that would love to try something new.

iCompete definitely has some great potential to be a place I visit often for group activities. It is a pretty convenient location in the mall so there is abundant parking and the entrance is right by the door. I haven't had the food, but the drinks are pretty solid and the bartender gives a nice ratio in the cocktails. Definitely a place you can have a great time in! The tap is nice as well, but wish there were some more unique options. The only complaints I have is that it is super warm inside - when we were in the axe throwing area it was very hot that we were excited to leave to a different area. The dart area was cooler as it was in a bigger area, but we still didn't fully cool down from there. Another thing is with the ace throwing - the boards are kind of worn out so it's really hard to nail one in there as often as if you went to a legit axe throwing place. Also, the system seemed kind of unorganized. Once you finish your activity, you have to move on and find your waiter to help you set up the next section - whereas some places will have it set up for your arrival according to the time. Obviously it is a hard system to nail, but if things could be a bit more seamless and less confusing I would definitely come more often. The darts was really the highlight of the night - the board is equipped with a ton of mini games to play that are super fun for groups! I would come here mainly for the darts. The baseball simulator is also super fun and can be really hard to get, but it's a great experience as opposed to going to outdoor batting cages!

Came here for a weekday visit and had a blast! John was ve let helpful with safety instructions and tips throughout our session to make sure we were hitting our targets and able to get our axes to stick. Love that we were able to bring our own food and drinks to share with our group! Would definitely recommend coming here for a cool new experience with friends or date night!

"Yesterday we had a blast at tomahawk studios! Fun filled time, with activities for adults and kids! Would definitely recommend this place to a guys night out or even for a church gathering or team building activity! Will definitely be returning and bringing more friends and family as well!"
"My friends and I wanted to do something different but fun aside from our normal eat and drink routine. We came here and had an absolute blast! Jayden and the other guy that worked the front desk were extremely nice and down to earth. We did the smash room and boy oh boy, it's a workout for sure! This room is NOT for the weak! We will definitely be going back to do axe throwing."
"Mike and Lone Star Axe throwing are hands down the best! We came into town to do a social event in coordination with a conference. Mike helped coordinate everything, his communication was outstanding and his customer service was second to none. We had a great event all attendees were thrilled with the event and it was a roaring success. I hope we get to do this again and I will not ever hesitate to lean on Mike and Lone Star again to help us throw an amazing event!"
"What a fun way to spend an hour !!! It was Friday, early in the day, no crowds & we were the only ones there.....Traveling through and ran out of Museums to see... so Axe Throwing idea came to the table. Hubby said YES !! This place is clean, plenty of lanes & nicely decorated for an Axe place. We felt welcomed..... especially when we didn't have reservations.Yes..... highly recommended when traveling through Alvarado, Tx."
"We had a team building event here with about 25 managers. Everyone had fun and enjoyed lots of beers !!! The staff is very friendly and helpful, and safety is a top priority. They do not serve food here, but they did allow us to bring in our own food which we catered from Jason's Deli."
"Went here for a team building event. Staff is not only super friendly but spends the time with you to help show you the ropes. No food or drink, but you can bring your own and use a small room to set it up. Had a total blast"
"It's only been open for two weeks but we had a blast here. The electronic scoring makes it easy to keep track of the score. The folks running the place made it very comfortable for us to learn and by the end of the night we were all cheering each other on. We will be back!!!!"
"Great atmosphere, great food & drinks, right on the river and usually have live music. Great for the whole family."
"What a great experience!! This was my second time throwing axes so I'm not any good and looking for help to improve my game. This was the first time throwing for my adult (20's) kids. Unlike my first experience (which was 5 minutes of instruction and you are on your own) the experts stay with you to coach, keep score and provide instruction. We had a great time throwing and playing different games. High tech and very cool. Would highly recommend."
"We had a blast at Axe throwing, this was my first time however I was able to make a bullseye. This is a great event for a group or even with a date. Axe throwing is a must!"
"Social distanced.. great date night. So much fun! The person in the room with us, I guess helper was super sweet and egged us on. Felt great to get out for a bit and have a Great fun time! Check em out"
"My friend and I visited for the first time on a Saturday night. We got a great deal on groupon for this location. The lady in charge taught us multiple ways of throwing the axe as we were newbies. I had the time of my life! It's a great way to release stress. The facility wasn't fancy but it had everything we needed to enjoy our time. It's byob so we brought a cooler of beer. They do sale snacks, drinks, and ice just in case you don't bring anything. We will definitely be back!"
"Had a fun girls nightout. It is BYOB so we brought a little cooler with drinks. Staff was very friendly!"
"Our small company hosted our annual holiday event at this location. Most of us had never done axe throwing but we all agreed it was one of our best events. The owners were helpful and fun and everyone had plenty of opportunities to practice and compete. We had it catered by a nearby Mexican restaurant and had plenty of room to set up our gift exchange table, a beer and wine table plus a buffet style dinner. Plenty of seating for our group of 20. We all agreed it was a much welcome change to the usual get dressed up and go to some fancy boring restaurant."
