This was my wife's and my first visit to Blue Mound Cafe but definitely won't be our last. We had heard from many of our friends how much they love dining at Blue Mound Cafe For breakfast, lunch or dinner.Upon arrival, we were greeted with a smile by Jordan. She also ended up being our server for our visit. We loved the decor in the restaurant and the signage with the cleaver "kitchen like" sayings. The signs gave us some ideas for our kitchen at home.We looked over the menu and ordered coffee. We were delighted when our mugs of coffee arrived with "Community" on the outside of the mugs. Community Coffee is one of our favorite coffees and what we use at home. After looking over the menu we made our decisions. My wife, who absolutely LOVES French toast, ordered the French toast entree. My decided on the mushroom, Swiss and sausage omelet. My omelet platter included hash browns and a biscuit and gravy.Our breakfast entrees arrived and everything looked SO good. On my omelet platter there was a large amount of hash browns which was good snice I was able to share with my wife. My omelet was wonderful. It was prepared to perfection and packed full of deliciousness, lots of mushroom and plenty of sausage. On to my wife's French toast entree. She's very picky about French toast and how it's prepared. She said it was the BEST French toast she'd ever eaten. She was a happy camper with a happy tummy.We loved the story on the back of the menu how Blue Mound Cafe was conceived. The story was very touching and heartfelt. We'll definitely be back VERY soon. We talked about come for dinner instead of just breakfast. So excited we found a new restaurant we really like.

Came here for breakfast with a party of ten. Food was just ok. Nothing special or memorable, Biscuits and gravy were average at best. My wife's omelette was more cheese than egg. Not good. Main comment is about their tipping and credit card policies. Standard gratuity on a large party is 25% on the gross, not subtotal. Plus another 3.5% on credit or debit cards. Getting nickel and dimed like that just leaves a bad taste. We have no problem tipping more than 20% for outstanding service but for that to be the standard rubs us the wrong way. Then to charge 3.5% for even a debit card is just poor form. So our $55 subtotal became $75. We won't be back.

So, to start off, the service is extremely slow. Over half of the restaurant was open for seating and it took over 10 minutes to be seated and there were only 2 parties ahead of me. Then, we waited over 10 minutes before anyone came to get our drink order. One of the other people in our party of four said it was the same experience with her when she was in last. I sure hope the food is worth the below par serviceI'll let you know if we ever get a server.... Ok, finally got a server to come over and take our order. The grits I ordered and the bacon were really good. The eggs were average, nothing special. But the biscuit was pretty bad. Overcooked and very chewy. Not sure I'll be back with all the breakfast options in the area. With that being said, the restaurant was fairly full. So maybe I was having an "off" day?

This place has the usual cafe decor with plenty of seating available. The staff was friendly and made sure we knew the specials for the day before we ordered. My son ordered the silver dollar pancakes, which were much larger than we expected. He said they tasted good and couldn't even finish them all. I ordered the BLT which was PACKED full of bacon! The bread was toasted nicely and I upgraded my fries to onion rings. The onion rings had a great flavor. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak, which he also enjoyed. He didn't want his roll, so I ate some of it and let me tell you, it was SO good! We also ordered a cinnamon roll to go, I haven't tried it yet but it looks delicious!

Tried Blue Mound Cafe tonight for the first time. Stopped in for an early dinner. The café is tastefully decorated and has plentiful seating. Our server, Isabella was great! When taking our order, she asked great questions and once the food came out she remained attentive but not intrusive. Everything we tried was delicious. Nothing came out cold. We also found the restaurant to be extremely clean! I saw the reviews about things sliding around on the table and we experienced the same thing. The only difference is that nothing was dirty or "greasy". We found the texture of the table tops caused the sliding and it was not the end of the world. We will definitely be back!

We went on the first Sunday they were open and really enjoyed it. We got there mid-morning, right before the rush. The servers were attentive & friendly. They keep your coffee cup filled. The coffee was really good, like a smooth medium dark roast. The portions are MASSIVE and our food was very good. I got the breakfast quesadillas with bacon. They are stuffed! I couldn't even eat half the quesadillas and kept eating the hash browns but they seemed to be never ending. The salsa is really good! The box of leftovers felt like it weighed 5 lbs, lol. My Mom enjoyed her senior breakfast. The only thing that could have improved for the business is the older woman with short white hair working the hostess stand and register could have kept her comments to herself or a staff only area. She kept making comments like "just terrible" "such a disaster" while huffing and puffing. And from my perspective as a diner, we had a good time, saw staff working together to figure things out, lots of tables smiling with food on the tables & we enjoyed our food and service. We wish them the best of luck and plan to come back to try more great things! Will probably share an entree next time unless getting something that will be good as leftovers.

Food was good and the portions were reasonable but a little pricey. Then again, in these days I can't really fault them for it. $4.50 for a small side serving of gravy for my son's chicken fried steak...Service was great! Our server was very attentive and very accommodating. She was always checking up on us, making sure we had all our drinks topped off and everything we needed.The place used to be Oldwest Cafe and they've made a lot of updated changes inside.

I'll start with this is hands-down, the best chicken fried steak I've ever put in my mouth and in my 60+ years I have eaten a lot of chicken fried steak. They also have top notch sides and the corn bread is a must try also! There are so many marginal reviews here on yelp about this place, and they are all wrong!Great food! Great prices! Super friendly staff! Mondays and Wednesdays the chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken are only $8.99! Way to go Blue mound Café!!!As Arnold once said " I'll be back!"

We were 6 adults. Service was slow and unsmiling, food was fine. Five of us had a meat-n-veg lunch plate or a sandwich basket. The worst thing was that our 6th person wanted only a single side (though she also later bought a dessert to go), and at checkout, the restaurant tried to charge her an extra $3 for having not bought more food -- a surcharge not noted anywhere obvious on the menu nor on a sign, nor was it pointed out by the waitperson taking the order. Unacceptable.
