Blackie's Bait Shop

We have been coming to Blackies Bait in Walnut Springs since we moved here in 2020. They have the best atmosphere. The food is consistent and the staff is very friendly. We just went and had catfish and pizza on Thursday of this week.

Just had a nice experience here at Blackie's Came because of the steak reviews and we were not disappointed. Steak was prepared exactly as we asked. Portions were perfect, staff experience was a good balance. Received a welcome from the owner and manager will enjoying dinner. Other staff was also attentive as they passed by although our server was on top of her game. We will be regulars here now that we have found this quaint spot.

What an interesting place in Walnut Springs of all places. The eclectic interior with so much eye candy to stare at on the walls is whimsy at it's best. Many bits and bobs, here and there are great fun. On this visit, I was just in to have a couple of beers with my Bro in Law, who as usual, knew everyone in the place. I cozied up to my beverage of choice and engaged in conversation with the bar lasses. First off, a very cold long neck seemed perfect to divulge in. On another visit a year ago, we dived into a couple of steaks which one needs to pre-order and were tasty. The bartendress was polite and full of conversation and pleasantry's were exchanged. A couple of locals we pulled up to engaged us in tales from Walnut Springs and what was going on at their ranches. At this time of day, they place wasn't packed but the folks that were there were on the older side like me. Got a good giggle out of the sign in the bathroom. There is an outside area, that I didn't fully investigate, but looked like a place where music may be offered. We had a short visit this time around, but it will always be a place to drop in when we are at the ranch.

Been coming here for a year now, driving 37 miles to eat and experience the Cabo atmosphere. Last night the crowd was light but all staff seemed rushed and inattentive. Steak was served 10 minutes before other menu items. No explanation. Order was wrong because waitress not interested in pleasing, just get it done attitude. Mentioned that order was not delivered as ordered but ate it anyway due to the long wait. No manager addressed it. Bill reflected no compensation. Nothing offered for mistake. Very disappointed in this small business and how no attention to detail was given. Sadly, we won't return

Blackies Bait Shop is another Of Blackies restaurant/bar that is a little out of the ways but well worth the drive. It is in an old building in the down town area. Finally made it for steak night. They offer a 14-16 oz ribeye grilled to order. Comes out smothered in garlic butter which topped it off nicely. Ours came out just as ordered and how we like it. Steak was tender and seasoned just right. Dinner comes with loaded baked potato and salad. The Bait Shop has a full bar and a good sized menu. Saw some pizzas that came out that looked really good and will go back and try one. This is a neat place to go hang out and have a few drinks. There were a number of families there so is kid friendly as well.

Blackie's came highly recommended to us by friends down in Cranfill's Gap so we decided to take that route back to Fort Worth and have lunch on the way home today. Well, whatdayaknow, we rolled in today on the Saturday of the Rattlesnake Rodeo weekend. But amazingly at a few minutes after 11:00 the place was empty. Miss Anne ordered the Be Linda Sandwich which she thoroughly enjoyed. A+ in her book. I went to order the pizza they brag on, a 12", and our server said, "We can do a smaller size just for you." Well, yeah! So I ordered a small with all the toppings I wanted, pepperoni, sausage, Canadian bacon, black olives, green peppers and onions. Meats are 1.50 each and veggies 1.25. I didn't ask but I assume that the prices are the same for this little pizza, which would make the larger pizza a better buy, I guess, as the little pizza cannot accommodate as much of each ingredient. But, regardless, the flavor of every single ingredient burst through and the bottom of the crust was so wonderfully crispy. Another A+. As we are old timers we both took half of our orders home with us for supper. We plan to make this route from FTW to the Gap our regular route now so we can dine here. So enjoyable.

Great steaks and great people! Atmosphere is perfect for Walnut Springs. A must visit- reserve your steak early!

We had fried fish with cold slaw and fries with hush puppies. Everything was good. Service was good and ambiance was nice kinda felt like we were in Florida. Definitely willGo back.

Atmospherer is crazy good. The owner (Dobber) knows how to treat his customers. Try it all pizza , salads and steak night a must.

Best steaks and wonderful people. We drive 40 minutes to enjoy Dobber's great steaks. Anytime we have guests, it's worth the drive to take them to this treasure.
