Belzoni's Catfish Cafe

Stopped in for the post church lunch run. The customer service here is 5 of 5! My drinks were never empty, and they were glad to help out with menu decisions! The appetizers arrived hot, fresh, and fast! Very tasty pickles, and seasoned to perfection. The catfish is on point and done right!! This place sets the bar for what catfish should be!!! The decor is a simple and straight to the point!

This place is top notch. Every time I'm in the area I come here to eat the catfish! The people are awesome and show Mississippi hospitality. Me being from Mississippi I love everything about this place! You Must go grab a meal!!

This is by far the best catfish I have ever had. He makes his own batter. Delicious! I was greeted at the door w a very friendly worker and the owner. Super friendly and nice! The service was impeccable. The ambiance is cute but the quality of food and service is the best!

Been wanting to try this place out since they opened. Finally made it in a few weeks ago. We arrived right as they opened so we were the only patrons for most of our meal. Our waiter was super friendly, not overly knowledgeable as he recorded part of our order wrong, but we corrected it before he submitted it. My husband had heard they have good burgers here, and I'm a sucker for a good burger. We both ordered a burger with okra as our sides. He also placed a to-go order for a catfish plate. It took a little time to get our good. While the presentation looked good, I could immediately tell my burger was over cooked. Tried my first bite and yes, it was over cooked. The burger was dry and almost flavorless so I added some salt and pepper. Hubby and I both think the patties are frozen - not sure, but they definitely didn't taste fresh. Our mistake maybe for ordering a burger at a fish place. The okra was also over cooked and just didn't taste that great. I see a lot of other reviews talk about old oil, so that could possibly be the reason. I ate half the burger and took the rest home to the kiddo.When we got home, we tried the catfish. That was the real star of the show! It was still warm, the outside was perfectly breaded, the inside was flaky and tender. The flavor was all around delicious and the tarter sauce complimented the fish very well. If we come back, we decided that we would steer clear of the burger and only order the catfish.

Today was my first visit, I won't be back. Order the Double Catfish with okra and coleslaw. One piece of fish was thin so the outer edge was crunchy. The second was a larger piece. When I broke a piece off to eat a slimmy string pulled away and when I tasted it it wasn't pleasant. I smelled it and there was an odder to it. The okra and hush puppies were greasy. The grease tasted old. The coleslaw was edible but not spectacular. I don't like writing bad reviews, but I felt I should tell my experience.

I couldn't reconcile the Italian "Belzoni's" name with "Catfish Cafe", so had to check this restaurant out to see what it was about. Turns out Belzoni is a town in Mississippi, and it claims to be the Catfish Capital of the World. This information is displayed on a large picture in the restaurant's small dining area. The interior is unremarkable but seems clean and well maintained. Chairs are surprisingly comfortable. The owner and cook, Mr Cooley, was friendly and you can tell he takes pride in preparing great catfish. Our server was also friendly and attentive. We ordered the catfish filet basket and the whole catfish basket. Our sides were corn, turnip greens, and onion rings. The server explained that each fish order is prepared fresh and will be extremely hot when it is served. And it was. After allowing a few minutes for the fish to cool, we found it to be excellent. The outer coating was crunchy but the fish was moist and flaky inside. Delicious. The fish is served with a tartar sauce that has a lot of flavor. The sides were all good, but there was nothing special about them. I recommend Belzoni's if you're looking for great catfish.

Great service! Great catfish and Burgers too. Very clean restaurant with a very friendly staff. I will be back for sure. Food made fresh and served hot.

Well' I was a little disappointed, the service was great. We getting it to go and were going to eat in the car heading to Granbury to our lake house. The catfish was slightly fishy and the grease they fried it in had slightly unpleasant taste, I meanIt was still good, I had better tasting catfish from there in the past. The fillets were large and the batter crispy so all said they have done better. It was near closing time so maybe that had something to do with taste with oil there were using. It is still worth giving them a try. The first few times I tried them the fish was great! Oh, the turnip greens were and are always first rate!

For starters the young lady who took my order was so Dam sweet she made my tooth hurt . I ordered the two catfish plates with coleslaw and fries and the fries was the only reason this place received 4 stars instead of 5 . Will be going back

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Five stars for the Owner Dwight and his outstanding team at Belzoni's. I have a lot of food allergies, so he and his staff went out of their way to make sure my order was cooked to perfection. What a fun, casual place to enjoy amazing food.
