1540 Bar & Grill Duncanville

Came for an event (mimosas & sundresses) and I will say that it was a full house and I feel like it was too much at one time and hence were the problem started. When we walked in, we had a table reserved and we were told "table number x" to which I replied "can you point me in the direction" and I was told to walk around and find the number on the table. No worries, we walked around, found the table and got seated to which we were now waiting for a waitress to come. When she came we had a few questions, we requested water for the table and started placing our order . . . And this is where the issue started. While we were waiting, we over heard the waitress at the other table mention mimosa specials, which was not offered to us. So when the waitress came back with a drink we asked about the specials. She took our order and didn't write it down so she came back a few times to confirm what we wanted. Still waiting for drinks and still no water. Another two drinks come to the table, so that's 3 but there are 6 of us. The same issue with the food where one person would get their food while the rest of us waited and still waiting on water and as more people are coming in I'm noticing there are only two waitresses. At this point most the food has come to the table, one person doesn't have utensils and we have to ask the owner who brought food out about the missing food. He tells us as the wrong table number is on the table it's likely sitting in the kitchen waiting to be dropped off. Food comes out and we see that her plate has an extra piece of fish to which the lady behind us asks why she got more fish than she did. My friend had asked that she get toppings on her fries however it didn't come that way and that next round of mimosas we asked for doesn't look like it's coming any time soon. The DJ was playing songs we all enjoyed up until the end where the tempo changed. The guy who walked around playing the clarinet and then coming around with his tip jar was something we could have done without. I asked the waitress about the check and she said she would bring it however she never came back around. Finally caught her at the bar in order to pay my check. They automatically add gratuity which has pros (making sure your staff gets compensated) and cons (regardless of the service they are getting compensation). I'm hoping that on any other day that service would be better however my fish needed more seasoning and my fries just were not good (undercooked). When I asked everyone else at best the consensus was "meh" but i expect more than "meh" when I'm spending my money.

So I came to 1504 because of an event a group was hosting called sundresses and mimosas. When I first got there, parking was a little bit of a challenge because there are multiple businesses and not a very big parking lot. Once we got inside, they had "assigned seating" due to the event. Once my party and I found our table, we started checking out the menu. I wish they had multiple menus on the table, but we had to pass around the menu to make our selections. They had a dj, and I don't know if that is regular or due to the event, but he played decent music most of the time. They also have a dance floor and some floks got out there and shook their tailfeathers. It was just a little loud, and it made it hard to order. When our waitress finally came around, I got the catfish platter and henny tini. Because there was a big crowd and only two waitresses, it took a long time to get food and drinks. When I did get it, it was good but a little pricey based on the amount of food. We also had to ask about the mimosas specials because that was specific to the event, and it didn't seem like all of the waitresses were educated the same about the specials. Also, because they got so busy, I had to chase the waitress down to close out my tab.Would I go back...maybe it definitely has potential they just weren't equipped to handle a large crowd.

Well, what can I say about 1540 Bar and grill...I'd recommend more work being done to improve service. I attended a mimosas and sundresses event and it was packed! Full of customers but limited number of staff. I'd say that the DJ, energy of fellow guests and the strong drinks helped to make this experience 2 stars, otherwise it would be 1/2( if possible). The server didn't have anything to document our orders and repeatedly forgot items. I ordered a catfish basket and wasn't too impressed with what I got. Our table asked several times for condiments and received individual ketchup and hot sauce packets. I'd recommend making sure that you're properly staffed to offer enough coverage for anticipated guests ( table was reserved). Consider getting condiment bottles and placing them on each table. Make sure that the servers have something to accurately take orders. Best of luck to the establishment!

The food was good everyone in my party order food and drinks. Our service was good thanks to Dee she was attentive to my party. The ambiance was great thanks to the DJ. It was my 55th birthday party and we all had a great time, My party we danced the entire night. Management came over to check on me and my party and I thank him for that, Thanks again and we will come back again soon.

The pork chops with fries are seasoned to perfection! Definitely my 'go to' from now on.

Went to check it out since it's by the house. We only had drinks and they were good. DJ was playing great music just a bit too loud. Next time I go I will try their food.
