Fontano's Subs and Pizzeria

Excellent sandwiches and fast delivery. They use great ingredients. Very fresh. Try the "Wise Guy"!

I've only ever had Fontano's via Uber Eats; therefore I cannot comment on service or ambiance. The sandwiches are beasty, flavorful, fresh, and filling. They provide a lot of quantity for the price and their quality if slightly above average (considering Chicago's high standard). I would consider Fontano's to be slightly better than Jersey mikes, Jimmy John's and Subway; yet, not better than authentic delis like Conte Di Savoia, J.P Graziano, or D'Amato's.I highly recommend the American, Blockbuster, and the Meatball.

Fontana's Subs and Pizza on Michigan Ave was very busy when we had came. However, the didn't stop the amazing, hard working crew from showing us a smile. The interior: Was beautiful, it definitely had the classic Italian pizza joint feel to it. This location was quite small, but with it being in the city, that is to be expected. How can you experience the city without feeling cramped? Haha. The only thing I'd definitely say about the interior, is that the pizza and sub line was confusing, especially for us first timers at this establishment. The food: Was delicious and kept us full pretty much all day, even after walking around forever. The pizza was really big, and was already made (they're made daily in the kitchen). The sandwich was tasty too, however I wish it were toasted, or had melted cheese anyway. Over all opinion: This location felt like it would do well alongside the beach. It's a perfect bite for a lunch, in-between classes, or just if you're feeling a bit hungry.

I stopped by Fontano's to check out their breakfast sandwich I saw them advertising on their website.Because we were having an early dinner, I knew that having lunch would not be an option, so I figured a late breakfast would hold me and The Doctor until dinner.I ordered the breakfast sandwich, which was $9.50. It consisted of a two egg omelet with your choice of cheese (I got Cheddar) and choice of ham, bacon, or sausage....I went with Ham. There was also the option of the type of bread, so I went with ciabatta. You can also had additional items to the sandwich (lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, etc.) so I went with tomatoes. They also had fruit bowls for $5.00, which was a decent size container of cut fruit, but I didn't get that. Unfortunately I did not get a photo of the sandwich as The Doctor and I were chatting and just started eating. The sandwich was a decent size and we were able to each have half of one and were good to go until dinner. I would definitely go back here to get another one and may get one to go home with me once we check out of our hotel in a few days, it was that good.

Get the Giardiniera! In the mood for sandwiches and this place hit the spot. You can order in a variety of sizes. I went with the 8" Wise Guy, and added a mix of hot and mild peppers. It was the way to go. Another thing I miss from Chicago is good giardiniera and this place delivers. Tried a bite of the chicken parm sandwich and it was great too. In the back they have pizza, and you can get Chicago style by the slice. If I had seen this earlier I might have gone in a different direction, but I am very happy with my decision. Indoor and outdoor seating, and the staff is very friendly.

Yummy sandwiches, classic Chicago pizzeria vibe, friendly service, and surprisingly delicious cheesecake. Great spot for lunch downtown.

I recently stopped by Fontano's to check out their offerings.Aside from their famous submarine sandwiches, they also offer pizza by the slice (thin crust or deep dish) and house made giardiniera in a variety of sizes. They offer their giardiniera in either "hot" or "mild"-I opted for the small size in medium. It has to be one of my favorite new finds! I have put it on my bake at home supreme pizzas to my beef ravioli and the crunch, olive oil and medley of vegetables which includes mini pitted green olives is delightfully delicious!

What a marvelous restaurant with some fantastic food! My buddy and I came in hankering for a deep dish pizza, and although most of the staff had already left for the day, the owner and her husband were willing to make us their last pizza. The deep dish, veggie pizza was phenomenal and filling, and I had their spinach and blue cheese salad, and it was a perfect pairing. Everyone was incredibly generous and kind and fun, loving, and we will be back for sure.

We ordered subs for a work lunch and it was delicious and full of flavor. However, it was extremely oily to the point where the wrapper was soaked and leaking out of it. I ordered a veggie sandwich with hot peppers and would order it again. It was so good!!

Great service. Our orders were taken right after being welcomed. Subs made right in front of you. Great bread, meats & cheeses, quality ingredients. Pizza was good too. Had brownies that were to die for. I think I spent over 30.00 in brownies. I kept running back for them. Enjoyed our visit.
