I'm really tired of Houston restaurants making it impossible to park your own car. I do not want to use valet thank you. I do not want someone else driving my car and mistreating it. I see it all the time and NO thank you. Liked the service inside and ambiance but won't be returning. There were plenty of blocked off spaces for valet parking that were open but only 10 or so for self park.

Can you say Foodgasm? Some of the best food you will taste! Have to take a moment to brag about the octopus starter! It was so delicious and the flavors of the sweet potato and crema perfectly married each other. My boyfriend and I went for date night when it was raining hard so the lights went out and flickered a few times but that only added to the ambiance. Definitely recommend for date night!

The Ambiance - yes! I like that this restaurant is situated right in wooded area. It is surrounded by trees and a small pond, and all of the walls are glass. It's like sitting outside while sitting inside - which I like. The Food - it's ok. The dishes I have had there are good (except for the lamb chops - never again). I just wish the menu was broader. It needs more variety. Not pictured: Charred Octopus (my husband enjoyed this but ate it before I got a picture)

Hey, went out for brunch with my girls today and let me tell you, it was absolutely adorable! The dining area had these lovely windows all around, adding such a charming touch to the whole experience. And the brunch menu? Oh, it was fantastic! The dishes were so delicious and filling, and the drinks? They were simply out of this world! Okay, okay, I have to admit, the place was a bit crowded, so the service ended up being a tad slow. But you know what? None of that mattered because we had the best time together. Seriously, it was such a blast!

Intro: I have been to Flora twice: once on a date and once for an event. Located off of Allen Parkway, Flora shares a parking lot with Buffalo Bayou Park so parking spots are at a premium. If you don't find an open spot, you're likely stuck doing valet as there isn't street parking close by. This upscale restaurant is in the same space as Kitchen at the Dunlavy used to be. Ambiance (5/5): This is one of the areas where Flora shines. The main dining room contains a lovely assortment of chandeliers. The same chandeliers that Kitchen at The Dunlavy was known for. Combine the elegance of the interior of the restaurant with the beautiful views of the Bayou that you can see through the large windows and that creates quite the ambiance. If you want to maximize the scenic views, stop by at sunset. Service (4/5): The service each time I've visited has been friendly, consistent, and efficient. The only real complaints I have here are connected to logistics. The entrance to the restaurant is on the side of the property instead of the front. If it's your first time and you haven't been told where the entrance is located, you'll likely be confused at first. Second, Flora doesn't have a bathroom inside the restaurant. You have to walk outside to reach the restrooms.Drinks (4/5): Flora has a nice list of drinks. I've had several cocktails and beer over my two visits. One of the beers I tried was a Mexican beer that I had never seen anywhere else. The name is escaping me but the bottle was impressive (the labeling was like a work of art and the beer was tasty). I've also had several cocktails and they haven't disappointed. Since Flora is a Mexican restaurant, you'll see a focus on tequila and mezcal. With that being said, they have a lot outside of that too. Food (4/5): As an upscale restaurant, the food and the drinks aren't cheap. Nor are the portion sizes large. But, the food is quite good for the most part. I've had several appetizers (octopus and chips with queso/guac/salsa), entrees (tacos al pastor and barbacoa), and dessert (tres leches). The charred octopus and the barbacoa have been my favorites. Overall: If you're looking for an upscale meal with a beautiful backdrop, Flora makes for a solid choice.

Flora in Houston presents a culinary journey that, while mostly delightful, does veer into the realm of the unremarkable with its Pescado a la Talla. The $60 price tag set high expectations that were regrettably unmet--not only in flavor but also in the anticipation of a whole fish presentation. The baked oysters, unfortunately, echoed this sentiment, arriving notably underdone. However, it's not all that dimmed my enthusiasm. The Mushrooms al Ajillo were a triumph of taste, and the corn tortillas accompanying them were equally praiseworthy. Moreover, the Grenchae Rose Mexican wine was nothing short of phenomenal, leaving a lasting impression of finesse.Would a return visit be on the cards? The exemplary service led by Enrique and the charming attentiveness of Claudio suggest a "yes." His recommendation of the Shrimp Mojo de Ajo dish is a siren call I am inclined to heed. Here's hoping that on a subsequent visit, the kitchen's execution aligns with the service team's stellar performance.Menu items savored:- 1 GL Monte Xanic Rose- 1 Baked Oysters- 1 Pescado a la Talla- 1 Mushrooms al Ajillo- 1 Churros

Pictures.Do.No.Justice.Grab bae and run here as fast as you can! Sexy. Dreamy. Romantic. All of it. Also, make sure you or bae aren't short on coins because SOMEONES gonna pay!My party of 2 was seated immediately after walking in. NO WAIT on that busy Friday night! Charles was helpful, attentive, professional ; just perfect. I've dined at 5 star restaurants and the service was no different here at Flora. The portions are on the lighter side, but like I say in my reviews where I complain about portion sizes, I could lose a few. The queso and steak fajita nachos were outstanding. The chicken taquitos were chicken taquitos. The drinks were strong and depending on who you talk to, That's usually a plus! But boy this place is expensive. I don't mind paying a pretty penny for food, But when 2 people order 3 apps and 2 entrees, usually, somebody will need to get "wheeled" out, but that wasn't the case here! The ceviche was light and fresh while the skirt steak fajitas were tender and juicy. Overall, a beautiful restaurant and memorable evening! Did I mention expensive?

Service was very attentive and the drinks were great! Food was also really good I really enjoyed my time here and the vibes were good. The huevos ahogados were like drowned egg and tortilla in black beans and it was super yummy - definitely have to be a black beans fan to enjoy this because it's basically just black beans. I got the spritz drink and that was fantastic.
