I came here for takeout with my friend. I got the brisket and flank pho. Whereas the brisket was very good, the flank steak was 95% fat. I wish I was joking as I've never seen nor had flank with that much fat to it. I included a picture of it and that was only half of the "meat." I was picking the meat off the steak, but there was barely any meat to it. My friend got the house pho and said his flank was the same way. It's very unfortunate as I think the phone could have been much better if I didn't spend half the time I was eating it picking out so much fat from it.

While visiting San Diego for the weekend I was craving Pho and lucky me Flamin' Pho & Sushi Bar was a 7 min walk from my hotel. I was greeted and served by Sabrina she gave me thee best service. I truly enjoyed the big windows with street views it had excellent lighting as well very relaxing atmosphere. Thanks for the food and service Flamin' Pho & Sushi Bar!!!

This is an Asian fusion eatery on the southwest corner of Cedar St and Sixth Ave in downtown. The suite was nice and modern with a tall, two-story ceiling. The bar was off to the right when you walked in while most of the seating was right behind the hostess stand at the entrance. The menu had a combination of Vietnamese and Japanese dishes (e.g. pho, poke bowls, ramen, sushi, sashimi, etc) as indicated by the restaurant's name.I ordered some items from the separate, laminated two-page menu as opposed to the main one in a binder. I started with a Pho-rrito, something that I have only tried at the annual San Diego County Fair. It consisted of vermicelli noodles and sliced beef stuffed inside a burrito wrapper with a bowl of broth for dipping. Flaming hot sauce was an optional condiment, but I passed on that as the broth was sufficient. I felt like this was a take on a French dip sandwich in which I could dip into a bowl of au jus. After a few bites, the broth wasn't really needed.I also purchased two of the specialty sushi rolls, Chili Mango and Citrus Crazy. The first one was made up of spicy crab, cucumber, avocado, yellowtail, salmon, mango habanero sauce, yuzu tobiko, and micro greens. The second roll contained spicy tuna, asparagus, avocado, salmon, lemon slices, yuzu kosho, and rayu with sweet chili sauce, wonton chips, and micro cilantro. Both of them came as eight regular sized pieces. I liked the spicy crab better than the spicy tuna which meant the Chili Mango was the preferred roll. The service was fine as the restaurant wasn't too busy and actually had more take-out orders than sit-down customers during the time I was there. Some items on the menu were expensive while others looked reasonable. I am uncertain if the Cortez neighborhood has other dining options similar to this place so perhaps it has found a niche. I gave a rating between three and four stars for my dinner at Flamin' Pho & Sushi Bar.

May be closed when you get there.My wife and I were staying at the nearby Marriott Vacation Club and we looking forward to a quick bite to eatWe arrived at 8:24 pm Sunday evening and the sign said they were open.We were surprised when we entered the hostess said the restaurant was closed. As we waited for an Uber to go to another restaurant I suggested to the hostess that she should turn off the open sign off when the restaurant is closed.She did not seem to appreciate the suggestion and as we were leaving in our Uber 10 minutes later the open sign was still on as the hostess continued to prepare the restaurant for closing.It is very frustrating and disappointing when a business does not honor its operating hours, especially when patrons rely on online hours of operation.
