Filippi's Pizza Grotto Chula Vista

We have come to this location several times over the years. It has remained consistent and their service and quality. Pizzas are super cheesy, the crust is thick, and full of chosen topics. Tomato based sauces have a hint of sweetness. We enjoy the lasagna, have had it with white sauce (so yummy). Their sourdough bread is buttery (comes with salad and pasta dishes)... their dishes are heavy on the sauces and cheese. This is family owned restaurant with a family atmosphere. Plenty of large tables for big groups and casual gatherings. Service can be a lil here n there. We did find ourselves waiting a bit longer than usual during one visit.

Our family has been loyal to this location since the mid 70's. I was so disappointed in my meal tonight. The garlic bread was lacking garlic and butter and had too much parsley. Antipasto salad is not what I remember and the meats were bland. Our lasagna lacked flavor. I would have been better off buying a frozen lasagna and garlic bread in the silver bag. We ordered online delivery. We asked for utensils, cheese, crushed peppers, napkins, got none of it. Food for thought: If the food is good, they will rush to your doors.

My daughter and I went here on a Saturday around 2:00pm was not busy (but started to pick up). Our server greeted us right as we sat so wait to be acknowledged was none and she had excellent customer service (I forgot her name). We ordered garlic bread, wings (buffalo) and a large pepperoni pizza... and as usually everything was perfect! I have been coming here since I was younger as my parents would treat my brother and I... and I will continue to go back and support.

Having frequented Filippi's since childhood, I held high expectations for Filippi's Pizza Grotto, particularly this location. However, my recent visit with an out-of-town friend left much to be desired.The restaurant is cutely decorated with a fitting Italian decor and awesome Italian feel. Upon arrival, we were directed to choose our seating, only to be abruptly informed that the section was closed, necessitating a move. Our server, Martha, was amiable but notably absent for the majority of our meal, detracting from the overall experience.The bread offered lacked freshness and was served with scant butter. Hoping for an improvement, I ordered garlic bread, yet found it equally dry and unsatisfying, essentially a variation of the initial offering.Disappointment persisted with the garlic cheese bread, which arrived as an unexpected fusion of pizza ingredients atop a French bread loaf, contrary to my order of simple garlic butter and cheese on sourdough.Even the mini pizza failed to salvage the culinary experience, with undercooked dough and lackluster flavor profile. The calzone, while passable, fell short of leaving a lasting impression.Regrettably, my visit to Filippi's failed to live up to the nostalgia and expectations associated with Filippi's. Despite moments of promise, the overall dining experience was marred by inconsistencies and disappointments.

I love Filippi's' ! It never disappoints! The ambiance is always the authentically on point. Service was great & priced appropriately!Food is great! Although a bit of a wait, but well worth it!

Filippi's pizza been really disappointing,our Chula Vista location ever since the remodel But we keep going back after last nights pizza with the pepperoni on top is the last straw it was near closing and didn't feel like waiting so I didn't say anything & left!!! But since when is the pepperoni on top‍

This Fillippi's Pizza Grotto is near and dear to my heart. I've been coming to this location for probably 25 years. There is a special taste to their pizza. That first smell when it reaches your table tickles the senses plus your first bite tells your brain you've just bit into one of the best tasting authentic Italian pizzas you can have.Gotta try the sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms and black olives pizza. So good! Also try the garlic bread, it's amazing. Soft inside but crunchy on the outside. Yum!Our family has tried several of their many locations and this one is one of my favorites because they have a large parking lot, good food and a consistent dining experience that allows us to enjoy the good food.The pizza is some of the best around. You're going to love it, too!

If you choose the family deal be aware. The lasagna ravioli and spaghetti are put in one little box on top of each other with no sauce on the spaghetti totally dry!!! Would not even feed one let alone four. Wonder how many people are falling for this stupid deal!

Filippis really came in clutch last night. We made spaghetti at home, but we wanted a couple of meatballs. Two meatballs with sauce and bread, and then we picked up an order of garlic bread as well. The food was absolutely delicious and just what we needed to make a complete dinner. I did notice that it was not that busy for a Sunday night. I know they have gone through a lot of changes since AL passed away and selling of the restaurant to a different family member but a handful of the cooks have been and staff have been there for more than 30 years. You shouldn't sleep on this place, and let's help support local businesses.
