This restaurant is great! The beans are vegan/made with vegetable oil and the chips are delicious and homemade. The salsas they bring with the chips are so flavorful and good. I had an avocado tostada, side of beans, guacamole and a margarita. I was so full afterwards and it was all so good! Our server was so nice and the restaurant was great! I will definitely be back!

Great to be back in Chicago, and finding out that one of my favorite restaurants is still in business, and great as ever. My daughter and I had lunch there and it was awesome to see everyone there, including Lorena and her family. Great food, family owned and operated, excellent service, and great people to be around with.Love it keep it up.

This is an update from my previous review. I recently ordered take out from here and was charged .25 cents for containers for fries and liquados (which came to a dollar for me). I said something and it looked like it was the owner who was there who was enforcing this. THIS IS TOTALLY RIDICULOUS. I asked the waitress if they charged for the liquado containers when I eat there because they come in the same ole' styrofoam, and she said she didn't think so. I don't even like to use styrofoam because of it's known toxins to environment and the amount of years (200 or something) to breakdown but have come to accept it as a necessary evil when eating Mexican. If the establishment wanted to charge me for containers that biodegrade, I might be more understanding. Also, the prices listed on yelp are totally outdated. The tortas were 5.50 (maybe more definitely not less) and I paid $11 for a dinner of chili rellanos which weren't the best I ever had. All in all, I still like this place for it reminds me of the family friendly and delicious Dos Amigos in my old gentrified neighborhood. Even if the duena is uptight, the waitress are always very friendly.

One of the more low-key and clean spots on this stretch. Figuratively, it won't blow any minds, but the sopes are piled high with fresh-ish ingredients and chips are free, plentiful and flanked by red and green salsa. Watch out for the jukebox--it goes off all possessed-style at every hour on the dot, and Shakira or Tigres del Norte at full blast will literally blow your mind.

oddly some of the best al pastor tacos i have ever had and the worst margaritas ever! you get 4 starts because i know how to make a margarita at home and i know what is really important are things i can not make myself. also the service was fantastic. the lady who waited on us was friendly and attentive.

It gets the job done. Their margaritas suck. I don't like that they freeze the barbacoa till ready to serve but it does taste okay I guess when served...I tend to like my barbacoa fresh.

Very satisfied with this local Mexican restaurant, a true gem in the city. The food is very tasty and flavorful of a true Mexican restaurant at fair prices for a meal, you will not leave here, disappointed or hungry
