Farmhouse Cafe

This place was AMAZING!! The service is so friendly and fast and the food is SOOO good. It's a quaint little place by a strip mall and has all these cute decorations inside. It's definitely a "farmhouse". To start they brought out the rolls and cornbread with butter. They were fresh and warm. The cornbread might have been my favorite thing overall lol. It was moist and flaky without falling completely apart. We then had onion rings as our appetizer that were amazing as well. They weren't super greasy or salty, the crust stayed on them and wasn't too heavy. I had the loaded baked potato soup. It's a favorite of mine and fairly simple yet places seem to mess it up. Not Farmhouse. The soup was creamy, rich, and cheesy. It had just the right amount of toppings to get some in every bite without the soup being all toppings. My boyfriend ordered fried catfish and when the food came out it was shrimp. Our server promptly boxed up the WHOLE plate of food, brought out the correct order, and sent us home with a whole meal. I will say my boyfriend said his catfish was a bit fishy. We ended the meal with a slice of coconut cream pie. It was delicious yet unique. It had what I believe was a marshmallow cream drizzle and the merengue was slightly toasted. The customer service was impeccable. We were sat quickly, our waiter greeted us promptly, our food came out fast, and the one mistake was fixed perfectly. I 100% recommend stopping by!!

Big fan of southern restaurants with the farmhouse feels and good food. The decor was modern farmhouse - think Joanna Gaines, industrial yet old-fashioned. The chicken fried chicken was yummy - lightly breaded and juicy chicken, served with the quintessential white gravy. The seasoning was a bit light for my taste on the chicken, but with some extra pepper in the white gravy, I was content. The star here is the dessert - lemon icebox pie. Yum! Do not skip the dessert b/c they make the pies in-house and they are great. The kids enjoyed the mac and cheese and chicken as well. Service was also hospital. Friendly and accommodating. This is the perfect spot for someone looking for a seated meal between Houston and Dallas - not far from 45.

The food was so good. The service was impeccable and very welcoming. The restaurant was packed with a lot of locals who enjoyed good food. The ambiance was a good small town feel like you were at family's house.

I ordered the house salad ( 12.35) and added grilled chicken ( 3.15). This was possibly the worst salad I've had in my memory. The lettuce was anemic iceberg with a few grape tomatoes and a few pieces of purple onion. Most offensive was the water in the bottom of the bowl. My dining partners ate catfish and were very happy.

Service was great! Wow the bread is yummy. We were there for lunch and had Wednesday's specials my husband had chicken fried steak and he said it was really good. Fried okra was not premade it was really good breading.I had the chicken and dumplings...some of the best I've ever had!And the PIE wow...key lime is phenomenal, coconut cream and banana cream pie you will love them all.

Back camping at Huntsville SP again, and remembered how much we enjoyed this place- so, here we are!Perfectly timed for Sunday lunch, we got our name on the list then stepped over to the Farmhouse Coffee and Cream for a decaf flat white (with coconut- SUPER tasty!). Made the ~20 minute wait back over here at the restaurant seem quick.Ordering up a fav from last time (coconut shrimp) and trying a new app (southwest egg rolls); the cold chicken salad for me, hubs is having grilled chicken salad. (Which Colton, our server, took a few minutes to explain- it's not the normal bed of lettuce topped by a grilled chicken breast, but a Mexican style warm salad with zucchini and onions, the chicken sautéed in spicy sauce. Appreciated the heads up, and hubby is game for trying it) and we'll split a wedge salad between us. We're trying to keep it low carb and semi healthy b/c we know there's probably going to be pie (or sweet treats from the coffee shop) in our future. YUM!The coconut shrimp and orange marmalade is still a tropical delight- such an incredible combination. The southwest egg rolls are predictable, but tasty. Not a huge fan of the wedge salad, it's just a simple blue cheese dressing, but I will give kudos to the fact that they split the salad before bringing it out since hubby and I said we were sharing it. A very GENEROUS scoop of cold chicken salad for my entrée. Needed a little salt and pepper to bring the flavor out, but I'm impressed with how much shredded chicken it is (most places give you a larger ratio of the filler veggies (onions, celery, egg, etc) but the chicken really is the star here!)Hubby's salad came in a fried taco shell, with plenty of filling. Very tasty, spicy but no heat. He'd have it again (and mentioned again how glad we are for the heads up that it's not a lettuce based salad!)Hubs is having a (HUGE) slice of coconut cream pie; I'm opting for a few sweet treats out of the bakery case at the coffee shop. I'm not a big meringue fan, so he's given me little bits of just the coconut cream... and once again, the crust on these pies is cookie-delicious to-die-for!Another great meal, with great service (thanks Colton!) and we'll certainly be back again! --------- Y'all the team in here today is HUSTLING- seriously, most of the crew is moving at warp speed. Except for this one guy (we'll call him Hungover Hank). I kid you not, if it weren't for the front counter holding him up, I'm pretty sure he'd be on the floor asleep. If (and I mean IF) he's helping out to bus and clear a table, he's moved at a snail's pace in comparison to his colleagues) And normally, I wouldn't mention this in my reviews, but if the manager reads these, they need to know this kiddo at the host stand is a major turn-off when you first get here and he can barely stand up, open his eyes to greet you and acknowledge your presence. If you want southern comfort food in Huntsville, this is the place for you! I ordered chicken fried chicken, and it was delicious. The service was slow since I came during peak hours, which was understandable. It does have that farmhouse feel to it once you enter the establishment.

Dear family friends are facing the impending death of their matriarch. We live in SE Houston and they live in Huntsville. Farmhouse Cafe was our choice of restaurant to send a meal to our friends today and we are thankful!Even though DoorDash doesn't have the whole menu, we were able to send beautifully prepared comfort food complete with pie for dessert. It arrived on time and hot. We ordered CFC, mashed potatoes, green beans, mac & cheese, and buttermilk pie. According to them, Dad ate better than he's eaten for days! Praise God and thank you Farmhouse Cafe!

Great southern comfort food close to SHSU's campus. If I went to school at SHSU, I'd be here all the time. The rolls were perfect, the onion rings and chicken fried steak were breaded and cooked perfectly, and the sides were great. The strawberry cake and key lime pie were show stoppers. We'll be back!

This was our first time coming to the cafe & Taylor took awesome care of us. The blue plate specials were amazing. Food came out hot & quick. Service was amazing!!!! Seriously one of the best lunches that we've had in forever. Can't beat that blue plate special price!!! $12.55
