Wine tasting party
Was recommended this Spanish Mencia. Haven't tried it yet, but no doubt it will be delicious!

To me they're the perfect neighborhood wine shop: carefully curated selection of the classics, a surprising variety of slightly off-beat wines to keep things fresh, and constant rotation of inventory. They are happy to walk you through a range of choices given your preferences, but lately we just ask Doug (and others) to pull together a case in our price range without saying much more. We haven't had a dud yet. Oh and their prices are fantastic, AND they sell Mama Lils, AND they're friendly and approachable. EVS is a well-deserved East Cap Hill institution. Go here.

This place completely stands up to it's reviews. Stopped by to pick up wine for a holiday party, walked out with 4 amazing bottles of wine for under $60. Quite the treasure in Cap Hill!

Great local wine shop. Owner is well informed. There is a bottle open for tasting and good conversation. We love the Chardonnay from there.

Puppy friendly wine shop. Small, local, adorable and friendly! Also, lots of tastings!!! I cannot get enough. Support local shop owners. I found a Malbec, really great quality for only $11. The owner is extremely knowledgeable. Why not support a small business vs. a chain. The price is right and the people are friendly. I felt like a neighborhood regular when I walked in!!

Love this place! I've been here two times now since moving nearby. Although Safeway and QFC are down the street, this is the place to go if you want top-tier, high-quality wines. They have sales on wine regularly and as I learned tonight, weekly tastings on Fridays and Saturdays! In addition, the owners/staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the wine and pairings..there is also a very cute dog that was hanging out in the shop the first time I was there. Always a good sign : ) they also carry a small collection of things to nibble on with wine, such as Mama Lil's Peppers. I also glimpsed $5 mini bottles of prosecco and wine glasses for sale. Go!

Was put in charge of gathering wines to pair with a French dish for a friend's dinner party. Came across this gem in 15th. When I lived in cap hill I would go to 15th all the time, was shocked I never stopped in or knew this place even existed! The woman said they've been around for over 20 years! It's a small shop, but don't let the size fool you, they have a more than diverse selection of wines. The woman was very friendly and took a lot of time to help me find what I needed (and then some). I live in magnolia but I'd gladly make the trek back here again!

One of our favorite places in the neighborhood. Great selection, helpful folks, and tastings every Saturday. Everyone needs a good book store and a good wine store...at least 15th still has the wine store. Shout out to the old Red & Black Books--gone but not forgotten.

The best wine shop in the city. Owners are so hospitable and will help you find the perfect wine to compliment dinners, brunch or gifts. They have an amazing selection and can help you with any budget. This place is no frills but if you care about good wine its your spot. I'll drive out of the way to support this place for all my wine.
