El Trompo Taco Shop

Ok, I'm new here from (Bakersfield California) but I love Mexican food.So I'm exploring around and find this "gem" of a Mexican Restaurant right by my house!I must say, the food is great, full wet bar, good seating and small strip-mall parking (better get there early for "Taco Tuesday!" Metal beer buckets on tables to keep that beer ice-cold, great margarita's too!Big menu items, and I go for the "Chili-Verde" dinner combo which comes with rice, fantastic creamy beans (you'd be surprised how many Mexican restaurants over-cook their beans. It's real important to a foodie like me to get it right!) and your choice of flour or corn tortillas. It tasted so good. It's hard to make a good "tomatillo" (chili verde) sauce that has the right tanginess to it, but here, to me it's perfect!You get tortilla chips and hot sauce (squeeze-bottle).Add a few ice-cold beers and you're in heaven!The service is great too! I love the ease of the small "mom-and-pop" atmosphere and great home cooking. The only thing missing was a Mariachi band! lol It's near my house which I love too. Great food, great vibe, great people, price is $$ what you'd expect for food and drinks these days.

Awesome. Best in Hendersonville. I go twice a week. Owner is always there to help. Great service and cocktails. Fun atmosphere. Food is very authentic. Get the birria on the weekend. Only bad thing I can say is my favorite server and future ex wife moved back to Miami. Boo hoo

Had a delicious lunch here today. The service was great and the restaurant is comfortable. If you like authentic Mexican fare and reasonable prices this place is great. We enjoyed enchiladas, tacos, guacamole and chips and the California burrito. I particularly enjoyed the guacamole and the sauces. I opted for the regular and hot. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

The food is so good! The service is great and the margs are good as well! We have tried all the Mexican restaurants in Hendersonville and this is one of our favorites!

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Hendersonville or anywhere. The family is fantastic, and the food matches. Big fan of the Gusano burrito with carne asada. Big fan. Love the carnitas tacos too. Can't wait to see them again.

I've eaten here a few times and it was good but nothing super special. Good place to grab a quick meal, and the chilaquiles are my favorite. Last time I went the table was kind of sticky and once my food was on the table the server never came back until I flagged someone down for the check. All in all a good place to grab Mexican food takeout.

Amazing with Mexican cuisine! The food at El Trompo will leave you stuffed and satisfied -that's what she said! Oh all jokes aside the food at El Trompo really does have flavor and soul. Most recently they added birria & quesibirria tacos on the weekends (Saturday and Sunday only). The tacos IMHO are priced but worth every penny. The ingredients are always fresh and the quality never lacks. The service is always great, my family has been coming here since 2018 and its been great to see them go from a small minimal seating hole in a wall to the expanded seating area and bar Hendersonville staple they are today. The service is consistent and the menu is larger but the quality doesn't change.

I've always enjoyed their street tacos and fish dishes. I was extremely disappointed my last time there that they now charge for chips and salsa.

Tasty Al Pastor tacos. The sauces are great also. Nice little place that is a hidden gem. I was truly impressed with the flavor of the meat.

Our first visit here was outstanding. Salsa was fresh and definitely handmade. My wife had the chicken flautas and she said they were among the best ever. I tried the Gringas with Carnitas and they were amazing. Can't wait to go back.
