I am that annoying, errr well-informed, customer who asks if the corn tortillas are house made. It depends what you order here; the mulita and huarache tortillas are handmade. The soft tacos are not. I stuck with the what was more familiar to me, the mulita. They said that I couldn't go wrong with the carne asada or pollo asado because they grill everything a la minute (yes, I have been binging Top Chef). The pollo asada had nice grill marks and was tender. The tortillas were about a millimeter in thickness and were soft with a bit of chew. The cheese and guacamole made a complete meal. It was really good; I'll add this to my rotation of places that make a nice tortilla.

This is such a hole in a wall place. My husband and i was out watching the dip at the soda bar and looking for a late dinner. What caught my eye was that they cooked outside in a cart. I'm not sure if it's an everyday thing but it worked lol. I love seeing those taco carts. I ordered their pastor tacos and its wonderful..I also ordered the shrimp ceviche and honestly I've had better. I would save those for seafood places. I plan to come back.

El Toro Grille had a re-Opening by the original owner recently Mr Adolpho Castillo, they have renamed the Restaurant Adolpho's and will become official in the next few weeks. The best is that his Daughter Betty is taking over as Chef and bringing her 30 years of family training to your table. I was able to hear about their soft opening and they presented most of their menu to invited guests and family. The restaurant will be open Thursdays thru Sunday weekly from 8:00Am till Noon. The menu are tried and true family recipes so make sure you try everything in multiple visits. I saw orders of Barbacoa, the comment was it was to die for. Adovada plate really delicious, my favorite not on the menu was the New Mexico cheese Enchiladas with Hatch Red Chile and an egg on top. We also sampled carne Asada Nachos which were very fresh and well flavored. The Beef tamale , hand made with New Mexican Red Chile made my mouth salivate with pleasure. In the future look for the name change, same day menu surprise on the chalkboard and of course the best personal service. It was a 5 star morning, thank you Betty !

This place is fantastic. The tacos are delicious, and the Taco Tuesday $1.25 fish taco special is amazing. The food tastes fresh, and the folks who run Toro are really kind. We came in late one night, and they brought us out freshly grilled peppers and chipotle onions for our tacos. The carnitas and fish tacos were really crispy and tasty.

Stopped in this little hole in the wall a bit hungry from my excruciating wait at Firestone literally next door, steps away. I only ordered a Carne Asada Taco, but it was yummy and authentic. They were quick and kind. I walked in to see them cleaning which always brings a smile of relief! The prices could be a little lower, but it'll tie me over and subside my frustration with firestone. This isn't a place I would go out of my way for, but if you're in the area or next door, might as well swing by and enjoy some good Mexican food! I'm actually still waiting at firestone and contemplating on walking back for another taco...hmm.

Honestly I will not be coming back, food had no flavor!!! Menudo and pozole were blahhhhh.... I came here because my mom said when she ate here...the menudo was delicious! ! Amm when??? Sorry but I didn't enjoy the food... I'm giving 2 stars because the service was good, the lady was very attentive, making sure we had everything. If your looking for good Menudo or pozole? Look for the Britta place on Broadway in chula vista. I will be going to the same place, it's hard to find a good mexican place here where pozole and Menudo actually taste good!Sorry but noooooooo!!!
