El Tianguis

This was our 5th visit to El Tianguis (we live in Alpine so it's a bit of a drive to get food here) and our dinner was so delicious once again! We take food to-go and eat it at a brewery in North Park that serves gluten-reduced beers (Mike Hess Brewing) it's the perfect treat for my husband who has a gluten allergy. Finding a spot with a dedicated wheat-free fryer and options to enjoy rolled tacos and even french fries is a rare treat. There are many taco shops in San Diego--including some decent ones in Alpine but this is the only spot we know of to eat so deliciously and safely. This time I tried a chicken rice bowl which is a bit pricey but oh so good--puts Chipotle to shame! Love this spot and hope it sticks around because it is a rare gem in a sea of taquitos that is San Diego.

My friend and I visited here from out of town and this was one of our favorite spots. My friend has coeliac and was able to order gluten free with ease. That's always a huge breath of relief when the menu feels accessible, so well done on the gluten free department. The value of the food was great, we both left feeling full and not like our wallets were robbed. Taquitos were very tasty and the service was friendly. Ambience was fine, nothing spectacular, but I prefer that in my opinion. A lack of flashy interior means they likely aren't compensating for something. Would recommend.

Finally got a chance to try the rolled taco goodness of El Tianguis, but was especially surprised to realize that they've also got some great regular taco options. I ordered carne asada, adobada and chicken tacos along with some potato tacos that were loaded just the way I like them! Everything was delicious and tasty. I was surprised that 4 tacos and 3 taquitos cost close to $30. This felt a little steep for the amount of food, but it did taste good. They have a good selection and they provide you with verde and/or rojo salsa that are also tasty.

This place is really good and clean. The taquitos were fresh and so delicious. The restaurant is clean and the bathroom is also very clean. The people at the counter were nice and the food came out promptly. The prices are reasonable and the parking is easy.

Their food does live up to all the talk. I got 2 chicken and 2 beef rolled tacos and really liked the flavor of the beef ones. The shell wasn't all crazy thick which meant there could be an ample amount of meat in the taco. Really cute interior decor but parking can be hard due to the lot and parking spaces being small and tight.

El Tianguis specializes in rolled tacos and has flavors like beef, California, chicken, and potato. The prices are pretty affordable, especially because it comes with guac. Today I got a 4 taquitos combo, choosing 2 California and 2 chicken. Both were good. It's only $2 more to make it a combo with a side of rice and beans. Customer service is always friendly here and always clean, too. I'm giving it 4 stars because although it's good, I wouldn't say it's amazing.

I am so glad I found this place, I have been craving flauta style taquitos for so long. The taste was amazing, the presentation was perfect. The taquitos in a cup were a great grab and go idea! Colorful place, clean and nice service. I really enjoyed eating there and will be back. The only downside is parking! But there is street parking as always on El Cajon, it's to be expected. Fret not and come enjoy these taquitos!

The taquitos were perfectly crispy. The dining area has a nice ambiance. The young lady at the counter was very nice. As a bonus all food is gluten-free for those with gluten restrictions/allergies which is what led us here. We tried chicken, potato, and beef taquitos.

The food at this place is absolutely magical. The Beef and California Taquitos were my favorite, they were so delicious. The service is quick and the staff is friendly! The music is fun and relaxing at the same time and the ambience is great. If i could give 6 stars I would! my only complaint is that this place isn't where I live hahaha, because I would eat here all the time!

I've seen & heard great things about El Tianguis so I'm happy I finally got to try this spot.As someone that is gluten intolerant and sensitive, I've found many replacements for various dishes I loved - but it was a challenge to find one for Mexican food for a while; until today! After trying this spot, I feel relieved to have found this gem! It sucks that now this seems to be their only location left. The tacos were so flavorful - my favorite being the birria taco! Very juicy & addictive. I'm still thinking about it now 4 hours later I hope this place never closes because you have no idea how hard it is as a Mexican-American with gluten sensitivities to get your fix I'll come once a month if that's what it takes.
