Our waitress was amazing her name is Alex! Highly recommend her as your server.Make sure to ask her for her recommendations (she's worked here a long time and has tried many items)We got a Salmon Shashimi, chicken fried rice, a Fiesta Salmon roll and khamakaze roll. My daughter and I both LOVED the khamakaze roll!

First time guest. My girlfriend and I sat at the bar. The hostess was kind enough to guide us. German was our bartender. Very friendly and made great recommendations. Definitely not your traditional sushi restaurant. Latin fusion would be the best way to describe it. We had the ceviche as an appetizer (pretty damn good) then we got the Lotus roll? It's a roll with baked crab meat on top (good, but different) comes on a fire wood plating. Inside, did a great job overall. Beautiful cherry tree as you walk in. I can see this being a cool date-night or special with large groups. I will be back to try their happy hour, Monday - Thursday. Cheers,

They have really great sushi, conventional as well as Mexican fusion. I had a roll that was baked and was something I had never had before. It was absolutely fantastic. Their dipping sauces are delicious. The service was quick and very attentive. This was our second time eating there, and we will definitely be back.

Stopped in with my family of 4 on Sunday around 1pm. They were completely dead. I'd guess maybe 2 or 3 tables inside that I couldn't see?. Parking lot was empty as well. We waited a few minutes for the hostess. She finally came up front and told us we would have to wait 10 minutes to be seated. We were so confused because the place was empty. She said they only had one server and we couldn't be seated. Instead of giving us a menu to look over, or have us sit with waters and wait, she wanted us to stand there or leave. Which then we left. Boo on your customer service. Having worked in the industry for over 20+ years, this could have been handled wayyy better. Felt like I was in the movie Idiocracy.

Q: Why did the sushi go to the beach? A: Because it wanted to become a California roll!CEO Jeremy Stoppelman beat me to the 1,400th review. I think it's a sign to write something already, and what better way to commemorate a milestone review than with sushi?I remember visiting their first location by the Cardinals Arena, and I wasn't impressed. I've had takeout from the Avondale location, and it was okay. But this Tempe location? I gotta say, I'm impressed. The JoJo Roll and Corden Bleu Roll were the winners (especially the sauce that comes with the Jojo Roll). The El Tataki Roll wasn't bad either. I also had some of my friend's yakimeshi fried rice and gueritos appetizers. Both were also very good. It's gorgeous inside. You wouldn't be able to tell that this place used to be a Sweet Tomatoes. Keep in mind that you're not getting an authentic Japanese experience. El Tataki is very much in the business of Mexican-Japanese fusion, and it's great! Itadakmasu!

Dined at El Tataki the first time at lunch. The atmosphere was very nice. Staff was friendly and service was good and food was good but a bit pricey compared to other sushi places. The menu has a huge selection of very interesting, delicious looking items. I decided to order the Shrimp Killer Roll. It was very good. However, it didn't come out as exactly described on menu. The menu said it was topped with eel sauce. However, Eel sauce was on bottom instead of top. The ingredients were fresh and good. I really enjoyed the dipping sauce that came on the side. I also ordered Eel Nigiri. 3 pieces came to an order. The price of the eel nigiri was actually very reasonable and cheaper than most sushi places in my opinion. Overall, good experience. I'd come back again.

Having visited El Tataki in Avondale I was happy to see one open on the East Side! The restaurant is gorgeous and gives the true Japanese feel especially with the cherry blossoms. The food is amazing as expected and the drinks were spot on. We went at a time of day when the restaurant wasn't packed so we were able to have a conversation and hear what the staff was saying to us. The only drawback is this can be a fairly pricey place to dine so bring your credit cards!!!

The sushi was absolutely delightful, especially the fried firecracker jalapeños as starters and the Mexican rolls. The guamuchilito roll and the sinaloco were outstanding. The michelada with modelo negra and mango lemonade were also fantastic. Tito, our server, provided excellent service. The restaurant is immaculate and has a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere.
