We came to this place because it had a 5 star rating in Yelp. We are from OC and not familiar with all this restaurants. The food and drinks were de-licious and the service was fantastic. Our server was Alfredo and he was hustling and the sweetest. This place did not disappoint. I plan to visit again on my next visit to San Diego. Great job team!!

Went here with a small group on a Wednesday evening and sat on the patio. The ambiance was great and it looked like the decor inside was also cute and modern. Our server was nice but unfortunately seemed like the majority of the menu items weren't available. He said it was an old menu and they're waiting for the new ones to be delivered. That's fine, but they really should just print out accurate copies on paper in the meantime rather than have their waitstaff and customers have to deal with a totally different menu. They brought out chips and 4 different salsas after we ordered our meals, all of which were delicious. We ordered rolled tacos for the table which were also pretty good. 3 of us ordered the Al Pastor taco plates, which come with rice and beans. Mine was the only plate that had a green herb sauce on my tacos, it was missing on the others' plates. The thick corn tortillas of the tacos were great, the meat was good quality and flavored well. I have to say I was pretty disappointed by the skimping on the pineapple, each taco only had 1 or 2 tiny chunks. The waiter didn't really check in after our food was delivered, and we sat with empty water glasses for most of the meal. Overall it was alright, just your standard overpriced trendy fusion-type restaurant. The food was decent, but I think there are plenty of better dining options in San Diego.

Cute environment insideOutside full of fake plants but cute set up Food: elote was delishShrimp tostados blandHuerarchies- food was good Sopes on sweet side. Beef tastyFYI- Taco plates come with three tacos. No mix match. With beans and rice. Menu isn't explicit. The sushi options are only served after 4pm, which I would've liked to try. Bathroom is way too dark. Sinks are outside the bathroom and mirrors are too high for short people. The wait time to get our food was about 45 minutes to an hour. The place wasn't full and it wasn't during peak meal time. Our waitress was friendly but did not check on us again once we received our food. We had to chase down a bus staff to assist us. Parking is street or paid lot. Restaurant is just at the entrance of old town.

I percent recommend this place. I went for happy hour and the whole staff was super friendly and welcoming. Taylor served me the most delicious shots. I ordered 3 tacos and they were full of flavor. They were not stingy with their salsas or limes which I appreciated. My favorite taco was the fish one. The crispy cheese was fire. I recommend the Mexican candy shot and the a la verde shot. Can't wait to return.

I checked this place out on aSunday afternoon and there was no wait. We sat outside and weather was nice. You start with chips and 4 different salsas. I enjoyed two of them. We got elote, chicken flautas, a birria quesadilla, and the crispy rice. I kid you not everything was sooooo delicious 10/10. The quesadilla was huge. Margs were also very good. Check this place out.

El Sueño is a relatively new restaurant in Old Town. The restaurant interior is beautifully decorated and there's plenty of seating on the patio. Lindsey was our server. She was attentive and helpful. They bring you chips and 4 kinds of salsa. 2 are mild and 2 spicy. All were flavorful and distinct. We ordered Al Pastor Tacos and Queso Birria Tacos. The tacos were tasty, brimming with bright flavors. The Al Pastor tacos were topped with micro cilantro leaves. All the tacos were served piping hot. The only disappointment of the meal was the rice and beans which were not even lukewarm warm. They need to have better quality control over the basics. The quantity of food served was good. The menu is simple yet varied. We'll be back in the not too distant future to try other items.

Don't sleep on their happy hour! So glad I found this place today. Maile was my server and she was friendly, knowledgeable, intelligent, and charming. I had the Cadillac Margarita and Happy hour tacos. I had the fish, Al Pastor, and Pollo tacos all amazing, the Al Pastor were my favorite. For happy hour tacos these corn shells are hearty and they do not fall apart easily; they were very filling and equally delicious, in addition I also got a complementary bowl of house made chips and three different salsas all with unique, amazing flavor profiles, the charm of this restaurant is not to be missed. Their outdoor patio is gorgeous and welcoming. The music is house music, but not too loud. Did I mention Maile was amazing and needs a raise y'all!

El Sueno San Diego truly delivered a fantastic dining experience! From the moment we stepped in, the ambiance set the stage for a memorable evening. We indulged in not one, but two orders of their crispy rice, and each bite was a burst of flavor and texture. The guac was the perfect starter, fresh and creamy, while the carne asada tacos were cooked to perfection, showcasing the chef's expertise. The aguachile roll was a delightful twist, combining flavors in a unique and satisfying way. What truly elevated our experience was our server, Vito. His warm demeanor and attentiveness added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal. He guided us through the menu with enthusiasm, ensuring we made the most of our culinary journey.

Decided to go for drinks a few weekends ago and my girlfriend and I walked into this place and sat at the open bar. Our server Lindsay was amazing and she made us the best drinks. I believe it had chai in it which she recommended to us. I will definitely be coming back to El Sueno so Lindsay can be our bartender again. She was amazing and gave us the best service all around.
