So they're open Late night on weeknights, which is till about 1:00 or so. When I work late I appreciate stuff like this. Maybe you would expect it to be a little dreary or they're winding down at 12:15 at night, but no not necessarily. This spot was still very lively. It's very brightly covered so the environment and the ambience are very pleasing. It's bigger than you think it is though, you have a initial area where you can sit and then you have a duck off around the corner, and there were plenty of people there at 12:30 at night so apparently this is one of those spots to where people stop in on a late night tip on a regularChips and salsa - they were good Just the right amount of spicy. I wasn't in the mood for it but I appreciated the taste because I hate when you put things in front of me like chips and salsa and there's no real taste to them, this had a little bit of a kick.Steak quesadilla - So the steak quesadilla was good, they cut it in two instead of at fours which was fine, it just made a little bit bigger to handle. Not a big deal. It was pretty greasy though. You hold one side of it to eat the other side is definitely dripping out. That was notice but flavor-wise it was still pretty good.Carna asada - The tacos were good as well. I had to at least try taco if I'm going to go to a spot that is taco in the name!Pollo taco - again, the tacos were generally pretty good. Nothing ever shattering but solid taco work.Tinga quesadilla - Now this joint was amazing! Well it was really really really good. It was a little greasy, but the flavor was out there! I got the quesadilla with cheese and I was thoroughly pleased. And it's actually a pretty good size so you don't need to get a lot of other stuff because it's fairly filling. One of the times that I went when I get off of work, it was late, or early, and they were out of a lot of things. But it wasn't communicated that they were out. Now see I can't hold them fully accountable because it ended the day I did come 30 minutes before closing. But if I order something, I feel like you probably shouldn't wait over 10 minutes to tell me you don't have it, because I'm assuming that it's being prepared. That isn't a make or break situation for me because of the timing. I understand, I work in the service industry, so I know that you can't have everything all the time, especially when people are ready to close and they've been working all day and some specific ingredients maybe out.I would go back here if it was a late night situation again, they were close to closing but they still said they would seat me and I appreciated that. The food was good and it was for a really decent price too.

I visited El Rey on a Tuesday evening, and it's a gem on Buford Highway. Be prepared to circle the parking lot a few times, as it's small and shared with a number of other businesses. El Rey is typically pretty busy, so expect a wait - but the food is well worth it.The salsa is spicy and flavorful, a great start to the meal. You can't go wrong with anything you order here. Personally, I love the burrito with rice and beans. The flavors are authentic and satisfying. The service is always attentive and nice, making the experience even better. Overall, El Rey is a great choice for Mexican food. Highly recommended!

The tacos here are always so good! Love the fish ones and pulpo. We also got the mini tacos of Al pastor and steak. The Al pastor is definitely on the sweeter side. I still prefer the fish ones though. Their sauces are my favorite part of coming here! Both red and green are so good! The red is definitely spicier. The mango agua fresca is so good too! Not too sweet and their large is very large!!!!! The service is very friendly and they are always packed in here .

Bumping my review rating down because I do feel the quality of the tacos has gone down. There's better on Buford Highway for cheaper. Service is ok but can be slow.

This place always hits the spot! Service is quick, food is fresh, delicious and authentic, and prices are decent! Today we had lunch here and tried Al Pastor, Carne Asada and Camarón con Cebolla tacos. All super delicious with hand made tortilla. Something about their sauces is amazing too. Not extremely spicy but with a kick. The Chips & Salsa they serve in the beginning is so good too. You can tell the chips are freshly made in house. Portions are huge. Service was super friendly and helped me with all the questions I had. There's also so much parking around it. We came in for a quick lunch so we only had their tacos but I will definitely be back and try the tortas!

Hands down one of the best mexican restaurants in OTP!It gets busy during weekend. Expect 20 to 30mins wait. (They do have a queue system with text updates). They changed the menu since i have last been here. Now serving tacos, quesadilla, fajitas and lots of sea food options. The chips and salsa are one of the best IMO. The food is outstanding. We got to try the tacos and mini quesadillas. Highly recommend the mini ones which are made with in house corn tortilla. (They are about the size of tacos - check pic for reference).Cant beat the prices! Very affordable. Parking can be tight. Park in the nearby complex (Google maps set to Arepa or Cuckoos cafe).

Authentic and affordable Mexican food. This place stays open pretty late, and it is always packed which tells you about the popularity. I have tried the steak quesadilla and the green sauce is truly the winner. When you are seated, you get a generous portion of chips and salsa. The food always comes out super quick, and the servers do a great job refilling your drinks and salsa. El Rey is amazing and I am always eager to come back to get my Mexican fix.

El rey del taco is located in Buford hwy and known in atlanta for being a taco and margarita spot! They do have free parking but it is always crowded in the plaza so be aware. This time we noticed they had really nice renovations and it was brighter and pretty inside. I will say maybe we need to try seafood next time because we didn't love our meal. I got Al pastor tacos and barbacoa and both did not taste fresh and were dry. I also got guacamole and that was good
