Wild West Weaving

My three lessons at Wild West Weaving with Hosana were a great success. She taught me how to weave Rio Grande style on a standing loom and the dovetail weaving technique. Her technique, tips and sympathetic encouragement really helped me. I left with a piece I am proud of, and a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Wild West Weaving is an impressive fiber art studio in the heart of Silver City, NM. You are in for a treat when you enter the gallery and take in all the colorful, natural handwoven items (in every style, size and price range) created by the talented proprietor, Hosana Eilert and other local craftspeople she's selected to showcase, and whose creative contributions reflect the care and skill she shares with visitors and the art community. Ms. Eilert is a talented instructor in the ancient ways of weaving from the American Southwest and has been at it since the early 1990's. She offers classes, hand-dyed, hand-spun yarns, traditional and contemporary tapestries and all sorts of cool, unique handmade treasures, and is happy to custom make something special for you as well. Her friendly, welcoming approach makes it a fascinating experience and an irresistible place to visit time and again.

Yelp had me use Arts & Crafts and Jewelry as categories, but that doesn't even do this shop justice or describe their inventory.When you walk in, you are overwhelmed with magnificent woven products: rugs, wall hangings, placemats, etc. The proprietor (Hosana) is very welcoming and friendly. Her woven items are amazingly intricate and all are beautiful and reasonably priced. Hosana will happily share her process with you as her expertise is quite evident in the astounding array of woven pieces that she's created. Also, she is very well-versed in natural dyes that she typically uses for her yarns.Wild West Weaving also carries handmade jewelry, spectacular scarves and fingerless gloves, and sunglass cases, etc. It's hard to name all the unique and beautiful items this shop offers.If you are searching for truly unique gifts (or a present for yourself!), I highly recommend this locally-owned shop. It's one of the best shops in town and you'll come away with extraordinary and beautiful art pieces every time.
