We usually have a good time in the small dog park. However, had an unfortunate encounter with some horrible person who kept telling us that our dog is "large," harassing us, basically trying to make us leave the park. Our dog is 30 lbs and a playful pup that chased her dog for 30 seconds. I immediately stopped it, doing my part and thinking that another owner might be uncomfortable with this level of playfulness. One of this dog's owners came up to us, trying to make us leave. When we refused to leave the park, she became increasingly hostile, gave us the middle finger 5 times, was aggressively posturing at us, and then also called the police on us. The police came and left without even talking to us, knowing that her complaint is complete bogus. Not only is this incidence infuriating, it is also a complete abuse of tax payer resource. Lady, are you going to call the police any time your dog is chased in the park? Maybe staying home is your best option, maybe you need to stop interacting with and terrorizing others, because you clearly have shown no capacity to behave yourself in public. This neighborhood's people are indeed disappointing. Please come to this part at your own risk! We do not feel safe here. Watch out for this individual and be safe!

My dog loves to be brought here...and I have to agree with him too. I like how there are separate dog areas. One is for large dogs and the other is for small ones. The other is for both, maybe more active dogs. It's a bit upsetting when some dog owners bring in their large dogs into the small dog area. It happens a lot! I just move my dog away from them if possible. Some of the large dogs are too aggressive with my dog. He's a Chihuahua mix.My dog doesn't really like to be on a leash or wear a collar, meaning he doesn't really like going for walks. This dog park is a good alternative for dogs who don't like to go for walks. Most dogs love going for walks but mine doesn't, unfortunately. We bring him here instead. This way he gets to walk around and interact with other dogs. The last time we went, there were some tennis balls to throw around for the dogs. Both areas of the park are big and have grass. There's even shaded bench areas to sit down on. There's also a large playground for kids to play on outside of these gated areas. On the other side, there's a skate park. I haven't been to that area (nor to the recreation center). This review is only about the dog park area. If you live on another side of town, I say it's worth the drive to bring your furry loved ones here. It's good exercise for them and they might meet a new friend or two.

My little dog, Luciano, is very social but he does not get much interaction with other dogs at home. He is my only dog and I am the only dog owner in my cul de sac...so sad. When I utter the words "doggie park" Luciano comes running to have my put his leash on and his tail is wagging like crazy- he just loves this park. It is pretty nice for the dog owners also. There are separate fenced areas for different sized dogs. Each area has benches to sit on so you can watch your dog run around getting good exercise. When we get home Luciano is ready for bed or at least curls up peacefully next to me and I get to read and relax also.

I've been living on the west side of El Paso for close to 2 years, and although I LOVE my backyard, I have to admit it's tiny! I have 2 dogs (one large breed pit/lab mix- The Dude-, one small breed weiner dog-Cala) and they just don't get the space they need for activities and such. Neither are really the super playful type, but both love to just walk around, socializing with the human-folk, and sniffing things. Everyone one who frequents this park is extremely friendly and you can just tell they genuinely love their animals. No one ever (seemingly) minds a visit and a wet nose from my fur-babies.It's divided into three sections. One for the big guys, one for the little fellas, and one as a rotational area (mostly for the big dudes) to give the grass a break for when too much fun has been had in one of the other two. There are benches interspersed around the perimeter of each of the areas, some with shade, some without, for the human-folk to rest and whatnot, and outside the fences are water fountains for us as well as our furry friends (too bad mine are scared of them). Also, people are always donating balls, toys, and water bowls for all to use at the park.Sometimes my k9s feel exceptionally anti-social (Cala is always attracting unwanted attention from the studs who come around. The pugs really seem to love her, so sometimes she stays under my feet for "protection" and doesn't get the exercise she really needs). Luckily, the whole area is perfect for exploring and taking walks. We go around the playground, soccerfield, and skatepark, and head for the path that runs across the cliff and through the hills to get that additional exercise she and I both crave. I'm so grateful that when I first started house hunting my realtor happened to be a dog lover. She swung me by here, and I've made it a weekly stop ever since! My dogs love it!

This is definitely a crowded place but the scenery is amazing and the trail is great! You will definitely get a workout but it all depends on your level walking, running, or both. I made sure I got to the top of the highest point runnung and walking it the view was amazing.
