Saturday, January 25, 2025. The good: food was excellent. The appetizer of fish broth, always satisfying. The salad and chips and salsa also really good. I had the fish filet and shrimp with garlic delicious. The not so good: service stumbled at the beginning. It took them almost twenty minutes to tend to us. I asked several times and nobody seemed to know who our server was. I tried flagging people down and a couple of them literally looked and walked the other way, seemingly not wanting to deal with the situation. However, once our server arrived, things went smoothly. Ambiance is nice, the whole fisherman by the sea theme.

*Dined 3.23.24:Had the fried snapper and have had it here before with no issue however, on this day it was really over cooked which caused it to be dry. The mashed potatoes were good & I choose steam veggies vs the side of rice to minimize the carbs. Meals come with a side salad (a good portion) and come with fish soup however, there was no fish only small bites of onion carrots-tasted more like a veggie broth. It was good just not what was advertised. My aunt had lemon pepper salmon and my mom had tilapia filets and they both enjoyed their meals. We also received rolls w/ butter with the meal (not pictured). This visit wasn't that impressive but I'd return when I'm back in town to give the red snapper one more try as it is my favorite fish to eat.

So I gave Villa Del Mar another chance because I was CRAVING their soup, and hoping my last visit was a fluke! And it was apparently. Every thing from food to service was 180 degrees turnaround from my visit 2 months ago. My soup was full of fish pieces, tomato, celery and onion chunks. And perfectly seasoned. I'm keto so I added a side salad no carrots sun tomatoes and they obliged, no charge. With a few squeezes of fresh lime, it's a perfectly bright and delicious salad on a hot day. My grilled entre' comes with mashed potatoes and rice but since I'm let's I asked for steamed veggies instead, no carrots. Usually you get a mix of carrot, broccoli and Mexican squash. But they simply sent me PERFECTLY steamed broccoli. The fish and shrimp both were grilled to my liking. The shrimps were just done and still juicy with a crisp bite. And the fish was crispy outside and tender inside. I love mine with a splash or two of soy sauce and a little butter melted over it, I take from the bread basket as I skip the bread. I even called the manager to compliment how good the food was , and I never had to as for a tea refill or more salsa and chips, my waitperson was on her toes taking excellent care of me. So $11.99 for lunch, plus read and top and added salad had me at $23. A little steep for lunch I think, this used to be an $8.99 plate 2 years ago...but inflation has hit everywhere so I get it... I'm so glad the food was so good. And that fish soup, you gotta have that or you're missing out.

There is this specific waiter im not sure of his name that acts like he's just high on life--or maybe it's that meth he's huffing. Either way, he's serving attitude like it's the house special. If he spent half as much time in rehab as he does giving dirty looks, he might actually get a job that's not just about pouring drinks and snorting lines! The waiter is judging an innocent young lady like he's got a PhD in fashion faux pas, but let's be real--his own wardrobe screams 'I'm still figuring out if I prefer skinny jeans or skinny boys!'" And speaking of judging, maybe you should take a good look in the mirror before you start critiquing others. Is that a reflection or just a canceled check?

Hello everyone, i just wanted to state that me and my family went out to dinner and the place was OK and very nice server he was very fast and kind. although the food was horrible. we ordered the shrimp ceviche tostadas and they smelt and tasted like crap. they smelled like the shrimp came right out of a dump or a sewage. they weren't even able to apologize or give us a discount. also when we mentioned it to the manager she did not seem to care at all. and the food manager never came to apologize. so if you want to get your moneys worth of food please go some where else other than here. not only is it always packed and some what expensive the food is horrible and not worth the wait and price at all.
